I took the shuttle from the medical school to Grand and the metrolink from Grand to the airport. It was really quick, cheap, and easy. (It actually ended up being free because I forgot to pay and nobody checked for tickets...whoops).

Just be wary about that area. There are muggings or shootings at least twice a week - usually around dusk though.

So I interviewd exactly four weeks ago at SLU and they said that it would take them a maximum of four weeks before they let us know about our standing. As of right now, I've heard nothing.

What would you do in this situation? I think that tomorrow I'm going to give them a call and see what's the hold up. Anyone else in this same boat? Do you think a little call would affect my status in any way?

They told me 2 weeks later than they said they would. Relax and wait it out.

I grew up in StL, and its no better or worse than any other large city.

It was the most dangerous city in america a couple years ago. Still top 5 I think. The campus is just in a bad part but its not a horrible surrounding overall.

Pretty much. SLU is definitely in a rougher part of the city, but it's not like they leave the students to fend for themselves and have no security measures. My mom went to PA school there, and while there were a few incidents during her years there, she never felt particularly unsafe. You just have to be aware of your surroundings. Plus, St. Louis isn't a tough city to commute in if you don't want to live in that part of the city while going to school.

Two weeks later? I really hope it doesn't take that long for me. So, if you don't mind me asking, did the delayed response bring good news or bad news?

just got the acceptance email!!! Interviewed Oct 19. Good luck everyone! Man it's tough business getting into medical school!

For those of you that have interviewed already....

My itinerary says that I'll be interviewing from 1:30-2:15pm and then I have nothing after that. If I schedule a plane departing at 4:55pm, would that be enough time? If the itinerary has nothing else listed after my interview, that means I'm free to go right?

yah for sure. my interview was about 25 minutes long. there's nothing else to do after the interview, except fill out this short feedback form. Good luck!!

mine was more like 45 minutes, but you'd still have plenty of time because I was free to go after my afternoon interview.

Accepted 11/4, interviewed 10/27. Talk about fast turnaround!

Has anybody else from the 10/27 interview heard back yet? I'm mildly nervous because I haven't...at the same time, if you review previous thread entries, it looks like some people who interviewed on the same day heard acceptances at different times...?

I heard after some people from my interview day (and even after some people who interviewed after me), and was accepted. Try not to worry about the timing! 😉

I also interviewed 10/27 and haven't hear back yet.

I was complete on 9/19...anybody else around that time heard anything?

Ok, so i have a question for this forum:

If one of you were accepted at UMiami Miller, would you still go for an interview at SLU a week later? any thoughts on how these schools compare to one another?

I think i want to go and check slu out, but flying is expensive...

Thanks!

This is a simple question only you can answer. IF accepted to SLU would you attend there over miami? If not dont waste your time. If you would then by all means check it out. If money is an issue and you are on the fence about SLU just stick with miami if you have no overall desire to attend slu over miami.

I've been lurking for a while, and I just got accepted 11/12 (interviewed 10/26)! First acceptance! Yay! :woot:

I haven't heard anything back from SLU and I was complete late August...should I call and ask my status or wait a little longer?

Withdrew my acceptance yesterday. Hopefully they will send it to someone nice 🙂

Anyone else interviewing here on Monday? I'm excited. 🙂 Even though it's supposed to be raining there that day.

I'm interviewing on Monday! I'm excited too. I really want to go here.

Finally got an interview invitation today! I scheduled it for Nov. 24. Hopefully more people will be hearing good news!

I was complete mid July and just got an interview for next week today. So I would definitely not give up hope! Doesn't hurt to call or email though. I'd recommend it.

awesome to know they still have such early dates available...were there a lot of nov days there? Or was this more just someone cancelled so you fill their spot? I was compelte in july and hoping 🙂

Interviews are only given on Mon and Tues, and there looked to be nothing but open dates when I saw the calendar for Nov. and Dec.

Good luck man! Hang in there, good stuff can still happen.

I have a morning interview, and the itinerary makes it seem like my day is done after 1 pm. Is this accurate? I don't have any possible afternoon interviews that they haven't scheduled yet? Can I book a cheap afternoon flight out of St. Louis?

There's only one interview. If yours is in the morning you can leave after lunch/financial program deal which should end around 1pm (the exact time I'm not too sure of). You can definitely get an afternoon flight.

Interview invite by email a few minutes ago! I've been complete since 7/29 and had heard nothing since!

OOS/3.6/35

Wow, that's awesome! Congrats. I've been complete without any word for a long time too. That gives me hope!

Damn, today must be the day they decided to clear out some of us who have been waiting on them for a long time. I was complete 7/9 (the first day their secondary came out), which is OVER four months ago now. I thought I had a silent rejection for sure. Anyhow, to those of you who have been waiting forever, don't be discouraged. They're probably just taking their time.

OOS/3.8/35 (maybe they don't like the number 35?)

Interview invite this morning (11/18/09) as well. I have been complete for a really long time just like the other above me.

OOS/3.7/36

I scheduled it for December 21st when I won't have to miss any class. Unfortunately the med students probably won't be in class either so there will be fewer to talk to, but I have missed too much class already for interviews.

Yay! Invite received today. Secondary submitted mid-September (OOS).

Well that's potentially reassuring. I've been complete since 7/10 and assumed silent rejection. Hopefully I get one.

Yay!! Acceptance email!! Interviewed on 10/27. I didn't expect much from my interview day, but I ended up loving my interviewer and the class atmosphere seemed perfect. Don't know if this is where I'll be next year, but very excited nonetheless :-D
