Unfortunately they won't tell you a thing. Even if you call, even if it's into the summer. 🙁

Hrmm, that's a huge bummer. And thanks for answering... I just now saw the post at the top of the last page in which you already addressed this issue.

On an unrelated note, I'm getting incredibly anxious. It seems like people are receiving decision notices on all different days of the week, and it's been an uncomfortably long time since any outright acceptances. The unpredictability is killing me.

No problem. If it helps keep you sane at all, expect a waitlist. There were only like one or two outright acceptances compared to dozens of waitlists last year during the second half of the cycle.

Interviewed 2/20. Definitely expecting a waitlist. I'm starting to plan how I'm going to attack it with updates/letters of rec. It's going to be a rough ride, but I'm hopeful.

Not sure about the accuracy of those numbers, but in general, they seem reasonable. However, 20% waitlist movement seems pretty good...I doubt it's that high at most other schools.

I've been to a few schools that have claimed 50% of the class comes from the waitlist. I did not see their numbers to verify, but it seems reasonable as the all stars tend to have multiple acceptances until late into the season (may). 50% at some schools is around 100 which is reasonably close to 20% for Slu. Med schools gamble on the all stars early and fill in with realistic candidates. I have heard of some schools accepting the top 3rd of their waitlist, and some schools barely use the waitlist.

I interviewed 2/13 and was also waitlisted today FYI. I think variation in hearing back is due to when your interviewer presents, so no reason to fret. I suspect anyone who interviewed after early Jan was interviewing for a waitlist spot.

I interviewed on 2/7 and still waiting, *sigh*. Interviewed with Willmore, too, and he was said to be quick with the turnaround. Hoping that they have had a difficult time deliberating and are waiting for a drop so they can outright accept me. Dreams are wonderful, heh. I am by no means an all-star candidate, so I doubt my fantasy will come true.

Interviewed 1/30, received the "alternate list" email just a couple of minutes ago.

I can't speak to the accuracy of any of those numbers/percentages, but there are a few things for everyone to keep in mind...accepting 50% of the waitlisted applicants means something totally different than 50% of the class coming from the waitlist. Also, you may have already hinted at this, but I don't think SLU rejects post-interview (at least, not right away), so the waitlist is quite long. Which means that if they accept 20% off the waitlist, then that's a lot of applicants.

Alternate listed today as well. Does this statement mean anything or is it just a buffer that everyone gets?

The Committee has voted and selected you as a member of the alternate list of students applying to enter in August 2012. The Committee wishes to emphasize that you were chosen as an alternate over numerous able competitors.

Hey all. I'm a MS-4 here at SLU. Wanted to put a quick plug in for the school. I'm very happy that I ended up here. I chose SLU over several other medical schools in the midwest, and I haven't been disappointed. The administration really cares about student well being, and the medical training is top notch. We're systems based here, with one test every 3-4 weeks during the modules and only one class at a time. We typically do very well on boards. I have several classmates who scored in the 260's on Step I and 270's on Step II, and we traditionally match students into very competitive programs in most every specialties--MGH, Duke, Hopkins, Penn, etc. The clinical experience 3rd year is really solid as well. We're a big trauma center and SLU serves as the de facto city hospital for St. Louis, so we see a lot of the indigent with multiple, poorly managed comorbidities. We also rotate out at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis county, another level 1 trauma center with a huge critical care presence. Theres a ton of flexibility in the 3rd and 4th year to make time for electives, and every specialty is really very well-represented. If you all have any questions, PM me. And congrats to all of you who have been accepted!

Hi,
Does anyone know whether the first module in the curriculum is the cell biology/biochemistry module or the anatomy module. Not that it matters much, but on the website it says the first module is the metabolism/biochemistry but on the pamphlet they gave us it says the anatomy module is first, just curious.

From what I remember from Dr. Wilmore during interview day, the anatomy module is not the first segment covered. This is to allow students to adjust to a new environment before tackling the beast that is anatomy. 😛

It is now metabolism/biochemistry first. It used to be anatomy (you may have gotten the old pamphlets accidentally), but they switched it last year. It's made a big difference--100% pass rate for the course this year.

Got the same thing. It's just something that they send to every alternate listed applicant.

Got put on the alternate list today.

Interviewed 1/22.

Still hoping.

I got alternate listed today. I interviewed on 1/31.

bleh it seems like they are just putting people on the alternate lists now... 🙁

They can't be accepting people until those with multiple acceptances start declining. Hang tight until May 15th.

Thanks for the helpful post! 🙂

No problem! This is still my top choice. I am really attached to this city. Hopefully we all receive good news in May. Any numbers I posted are just guesstimates, but some schools that waitlist many applicants have reported similar stats.

Rejected. Never interviewed. The associate dean gives me his best wishes for success though... I wish him likewise!

EDIT: Rejection was via email. My SLU application "status" page never changed.

First one to call DIBS can have my SLU acceptance if CU accepts me tomorrow! :xf:

I wonder why they haven't sent out pre-interview rejections to everyone yet. Does this mean they're still handing out interview invites? Who knows....

As far as I can tell, the last interview day was March 6th. But I'm not sure why the rest of the pre-interview rejections haven't gone out.

do you know how many acceptances have been sent by any chance?

No idea. That information is shared in the dean's letter. The last one was sent out at the end of last semester. I guess we'll get another letter at the end of this semester.

Guys I interviewed late October and was accepted early December, and I am pretty sure that I will be withdrawing my acceptance pretty soon, so hang in there!!

I just withdrew my acceptance today, so hopefully one of you alternate list'ers on here will get it! Good luck! :xf:

I don't know if it will be posted publicly online. Usually it's posted in the student affairs website which you can only access with a SLU account. If you guys are interested in any particular field I can tell you where they matched.

Hi everyone,

I just called over to find out if there was any news on my status, and they said they expect to have decisions out in the next 3 weeks!

I interviewed 2/21 if that helps anyone.
