If i was waitlisted, when is usually the best chance of coming off that list. They won't tell you where you are on the list will they?

Best chance is after May 15th. They won't tell you where you are on the list, even relative position. There was a mention last year that they'd tell you your position if you didn't get in at all after the entire cycle was over, but nobody reported whether or not they took SLU up on that.

They were saying into July that the list was moving, but the most reported movement was in early June.

how many ppl total do you think SLU puts on the waitlist in a year? ~1000 interviews, they eventually accept near 500 (including waitlist). but how many are in the waitlist pool?

Everyone else that interviewed but wasn't accepted. I believe the SLU students who post here have said post-interview rejections are extremely rare.

Interview invite today!
I can't even open the status page. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe they do maintenance on their site on Friday nights or something..

congrats - did you apply later in the season? i snuck my application the last day and im wondering if thats why no ii for me.. yet?

Got my alternate list email today. It says
The Committee wishes to emphasize that you were chosen as an alternate over numerous able competitors.
Does that mean much or is just supposed to make me feel a bit more encouraged?

I haven't seen anyone post that they've been accepted lately. Could it be that the class is full and these late interviews are only for spots on the alternate list?

Interview 1/17,,,,still no news...anxiously waiting.....

On my interview a few weeks ago, my interviewer said that while spots in the class are currently limited, if your committee score is high enough you can still be admitted.

by a few weeks ago, you mean....?

Interviewed at SLU on Monday and loved it! The school and students were really impressive...Definitely my favorite interview so far!

Withdrew from here Thursday. Good luck everyone; I hope someone from here gets my spot.

There is still hope! When did you get the email?

Friday. Coincidentally I also received my first acceptance on the same day. I will most likely be withdrawing my application.

Rejected 3/3 after months of pre-interview silence. Good luck to everyone else.

rejected today via email 🙁 good luck and congrats to everyone else

do they even send out post-interview rejections?

From what I gathered on my interview date, no, unless you really raise a red flag or bomb your interview. Movement on the waitlist is probably going to be rough..

the waitlist does move after may 15 but do to the competitiveness, there list does not move very much. good luck. If anyone has questions about SLU I would be glad to answer them.

Can you explain what you mean by 'the competitiveness'? Do you mean that few acceptees turn down an offer at SLU? Or do you mean there are a lot of really really good candidates on the waitlist that are more likely to be promoted before us? Or something else?

I'll provide a really rough back of napkin guestimation of how much the waitlist will move.

Assumption: 1000 interview for around 180 spots in class, slu generally offers 570 acceptances throughout season.

a few weeks ago it was reported that 318 have been accepted which means about 290 or so have already been waitlisted. The number of acceptances has obviously increased since this number was a little old so say that now they are between 350-400 acceptances (obviously not all active). They still have around 170 or so acceptances to offer between the last 300 interviews and after May 15th waitlist movement. My guess is that anywhere from 80-90 or so are after may 15th, and the rest are accepted before May 15th (say (80-90)/300 interviews, so odds of direct acceptance are obviously pretty bad at this point). Since around 500 will be waitlisted, just under 20% of the waitlist will move if these
assumptions are correct (obviously a lot of assumptions, so i'd definitely take this with a
grain of salt).

Also, note that the last few batches haven't produced any acceptances on student doc. This might indicate that they are currently at their max for the number of acceptances they will offer at one time which would make the previous calculation pretty much irrelevant. They probably have a couple withdraw that they have to fill up every week or so, but this is probably too small of a number to be represented on student doc. If this is the case. There will probably be more waitlist movement than I guessed previously. Anyway, competitive sums this situation up pretty well if you ask me.

Thanks for the stats breakdown on acceptance from waitlist.
Waitlisted this morning. :-/

Out of curiosity, when did you interview?

Also, for the benefit of people placed on the WL, does SLU report relative standing (hard rankings, which "stratus" of the WL you're on, etc.) or no? I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find anything using the "search thread" function.

Still hanging around pre-interview, application was marked as finalized by the school in October.

An interview would be nice, but I hope not just a courtesy because I have a parent that graduated/taught here. I would absolutely love to visit and attend though, its hard to see all the great things the school is doing in my parent's alumni newsletters and not even get a shot!

So for those of us still waiting pre-interview, don't feel bad if you don't get one because even my connections didn't work! Hang tight! :xf:

Not sure about the accuracy of those numbers, but in general, they seem reasonable. However, 20% waitlist movement seems pretty good...I doubt it's that high at most other schools.

Unfortunately they won't tell you a thing. Even if you call, even if it's into the summer. 🙁

Had my interview on 2/7, still waiting (understandably). This is brutal. As someone from St. Louis who attended SLU for grad school, this is most assuredly my first choice; hoping for some good news in the next week or so!
