2014-2015 Washington University in St. Louis Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yep...Interviewed way back in December and haven't heard anything yet.
Yes, but WashU has a history of significant waitlist movement. It draws from the top tier folks, and sometimes those who are not from the Midwest are (unaccountably! 😉) not eager to dwell in America's Heartland. From what I have been told by current students and can gather from last year's sdn posts, there is waitlist movement (or has been) even into June. No guarantees, of course, and I am trying not to be foolishly optimistic, but it is (I gather) too soon to give up hope here. The lingering hope, though, does make choosing among options more challenging!

Has anyone who interviewed the last week of February heard back about decisions yet, whether good or bad (or WL)?

Waitlisted 🙁 Just received email a sec ago. Interviewed late January. Looks like I'll be going to Columbia 🙂 Good luck all!

Waitlisted just now.. interviewed back in November. Was really hoping for that magical call by Dean Ratts-- she's like my idol 😛

Wait listed. Interviewed back in January... *sigh*

Waitlisted as well, interviewed mid Feb. Anyone figure out how to actually get to the waitlist link?

Waitlisted and the link doesn't work. Emailed them about it.

The waitlist is unranked, fyi.

Waitlisted, interviewed mid-November.

WL today. 🙂/🙁

It's surprising to me how I don't really know how I feel about the schools I applied to.
I didn't leave WashU feeling super in love, but the WL felt like a punch in the stomach.
I guess I more hopeful than my brain was letting on. It's nice to still be on the maybe list, though.

waitlisted here too. any get rejected post interview? or just everyone get bumped to waitlist?

One poster said he got rejected a few pages back. I didn't see any rejections in last years thread so I'm not too sure though.

You still have hope then! Maybe Dr. Ratts will call you later today 😉
Honestly I'm kinda just assuming that the rejections are going out tomorrow but if you're right I'm gonna buy you a puppy.

Wait... That really happened to you or is this a joke? Cause if so, that is just terrible.

Made me so nervous after seeing the waitlist email in the middle of biochem lab that I knocked the spectrophotometer open while it was running.

Acceptance phone call yesterday. Email this morning inviting me to Second Look. And email this afternoon informing me that I'm being waitlisted.

I don't have a single thing in writing yet saying explicitly that I'm accepted. So I wondered if they found out something about me at the last second and decided to rescind the acceptance before sending out the acceptance packet.

I gotta say, though, that's a pretty funny April Fool's prank (I'm choosing to believe it was intentional because it's funnier that way). Not too bad to toy around with admitted students. Can you imagine getting an acceptance email that they later took back as a mistake?

FYI - waitlist link doesn't work on phones, even with desktop website mode activated..... I got it to work when I directly clicked the link via an actual computer.

Necessary to put anything in the comments section or fine to leave it blank? The link is working now btw

Everybody knows that you are awesome, @GameOfBones. Anything short of admission does not feel good, though.

Same here lol I Dk what to think now. Even if it's April fools it seems a little unprofessional to me.

So far it seems like it was only those accepted this week, right?

I'll bet we haven't been officially switched over to "accepted" in the database just yet. And when they triggered the waitlist email it automatically went out to everyone who hadn't been marked accepted or rejected yet.

Pretty weird though. I've never heard of this kind of mixup happening before with any med school. I'm even more surprised that we haven't gotten any followup email or call letting us know that email was a mistake. They definitely knew about the mistake after @yummyoatmeal21 called, right?

Yeah the admissions office was definitely aware of the problem when I called

I vote that no serious correspondence go out on April 1st.... (That may just be the traumatized duke applicant in me talking though lol )

I like this theory though, I would hope it was unintentional ! lol

Pardon my ignorance, but would someone please give me some insight into the waitlist procedure?

I already submitted my "yes, please put me on the waitlist". I'm just wondering, what happens next? Is there a certain time frame that we will get accepted/rejected? or would they notify us anywhere from now until August when school begins?

The reason that I am really wondering is because I haven't gotten accepted or waitlisted anywhere else. If I don't get in to WUSM, I'll have to reapply for next year. Could I/Should I apply again if I still haven't heard back from WUSM by June or July?

I would prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Start getting your new app in order. Take assessment of what weaknesses you had and take action to correct them. (My bet is you didn't apply broadly enough. If you interviewed at WashU, you must be academically qualified.)

My guess is WL movement begins in May and winds down through June.

Here's to hoping you hear some good news in May and can avoid this crazy process for a second time. Best of luck !! I'm rooting for you!

Waitlist movement should begin just before/after April 30th.. according to new AAMC traffic rules 🙂 so there's that going for us!

After filling out the waitlist inquiry form, I noticed that the wait list inquiry is still active in the secondary application page. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? I just want to make sure that my response was definitely recorded as yes after submitting, and that my application is not accidentally withdrawn.

WL, interviewed last week of Feb, and I can't be more excited honestly. Wash U does not rank, Dean Ratts is open to updates, and as it has been stated multiple times, Wash U's less-than-Harvard yield is good news for those of us still waiting.

I've been in the application process for over a year now. But, my application was strong enough to interview at Wash U, I will only improve it in the coming year, and with wiser application choices I will find somewhere great that accepts me. Not knowing yet sucks, but if I'm really set on a career in medicine, the hardest thing I ever accomplish isn't going to happen when I'm 22.

Best of luck to everyone else!

Has anyone else who interviewed not heard anything at all yet?
