Hey guys! Does anybody remember the term Dr. James Willmore used during his talk to interviewees during the interview day? He mentioned 2 concepts: 1)"_______ professionalism" talking about how doctors are being hindered by the need to act a certain cookie cutter way 2) the feeling some students have of not being good enough to be attending med school. Im trying to remember the ____ word but it's slipped my mind and nagging me!!!

I believe one of them that you are referring to is impostor syndrome, not sure though!
He also said something about maladaptive perfectionism I believe!

No problem! 🙂 Were you at the 10/27 interview or does he give a similar speech at each interview day lol?!

I was on 10/13! Seems like he does LMFAO. Oh well, the fact that I'm still contemplating maladaptive professionalism gives his speech some merit I suppose!!

How'd y'all feel about your interview with Willmore? I interviewed with him and hoping I didn't screw up lol. I constantly keep thinking about my answers...interviewed about three weeks ago.

dang I probably will get the alternate list as well then. I didn't like my interview with him. I don't know if he felt the same way though lol. Did you get a bad vibe from him?

Anyone know why the post-interview process here is so ridiculously long?
How does a school need over 2 months post-interview to decide whether or not they are going to accept someone?...

I don't think it's that unsusual this time of year. I interviewed at a school last month and they said it would take 10 weeks for them to make a decision. The waiting sucks though....

Maybe it depends on the interviewer's schedule, or maybe they do silent deferrals. I interviewed Oct 26 and was accepted Dec 4, so a 5-6 week turnaround even with Thanksgiving.

SLU didn't have a long turnaround for me (interviewed 10/13, heard back 11/23) but there are schools that make you wait till March regardless of when you interviewed and med school admissions are high volume, determined by many factors, and done by busy people who may only have one or two days a week to meet in a committee, so all things considered, it's not THAT long. Just be patient, SLU involves many doctors in their interviewing process rather than just a handful of people involved with admissions, it'll come.

Does anyone know if there's a Facebook page yet for accepted students?

Is SLU just behind in reviewing applications? I have been complete since 10/15 and haven't heard anything since.

That's what I'm thinking, since I was also complete months ago and haven't heard anything...they're also not on the "schools that have sent out rejections" list. I'm pretty much assuming that any school I applied to that I haven't heard back from that are not on that list I'll probably be silently rejected from...but who knows! This process is so crazy and unpredictable...

Does SLU do silent rejections? Complete in July and no communication since.
SLU waited until pretty much the end of the season to reject me last year. Pretty much a silent rejection because by the time I got it, I already knew the ship had sailed.

I haven't received any rejections from any of the 16 schools that are silent. so literally zero communication, no hold no rejections AT ALL. How is that possible. I have applied before and I feel like this is wrong.

I agree - I have a ton of silences still also (20). I know about half have rejected people, so I'm not sure why it's taking so long this year.

In the same boat as you guys. Complete in July and have had no communication with them so far.

How do we update them with grades? Do we send our transcripts again, or do an update in the portal?

Is there an admitted student facebook page yet? 🙂

does anyone know the average step 1 score for SLU?

Has anyone from early November heard yet? I was early December and could use some good news right about now.
