2015-2016 Tufts University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know if Tufts sends out rejections alongside interviews, or if they wait until a later date to send out mass rejections?

Doesn't look like anyone answered you. You only receive notification of an II. They wait until the end of the year to send out rejections. Toward the late winter and spring they do send out some people were complete earlier in the year.

Take a look at http://www.medicalschoolsinusa.com/medical-school-rankings/

Good Luck!

EDIT: This is Tufts Specific Data from the Site above
Fall 2012-2013 Admissions Statistics
Total admissions data
7319 applied, 1068 interviewed, 590 were accepted, 201 enrolled

In-state admissions data
700 applied, 204 interviewed, 108 were accepted, 48 enrolled

Out-of-state admissions data
6619 applied, 864 interviewed, 482 were accepted, 153 enrolled

Women’s admissions data
3502 applied, 490 interviewed, 286 were accepted, 93 enrolled
Minority admissions data
3031 applied, 393 interviewed, 241 were accepted, 57 enrolled

International admissions data
216 applied, 1 interviewed, 0 were accepted, 0 enrolled

It's worth noting, none of those acceptances came off the waitlist.

interesting stuff but the Minority data appears to be off when compared with MSAR and others stats

Any word on interview invites since the last invites were sent out?

Do you mind if I ask if you are from New England area? do they favor certain OOSers more than others for the Maine track?

I am not originally from the New England area, but I've lived in Boston for the past year and I have significant ties to Maine.

For the non-Maine Track applicants who received IIs, what were the earliest available dates for interview? Thank you!

Edit: Earliest regular track date was September 17 if memory serves! Good luck!

Sorry, I'm so messed up on dates. My interview is September 22 and the earliest available to me was September 17

*an. AN English...Seen it several times, and it's getting to me (and that's coming from an "ESL", as they say...)
That sounds ridiculous when I read it out loud...I would argue completing a Bachelor's degree in a English speaking university is far from competent enough to become a physician in the U.S.

When you are an ESL, you actually STUDY English and its grammar. My pet peeve: One doesn't "Bring" things with them, they "Take" things with them. Like in, "I am going to bring/take my backpack with me"

I like you. Plus we are both Cal Gals. [are] You ESL too or did you pay attention in class? I admittedly suck at many things, but I'd be remiss if I didn't admit I have a few "English pet peeves", including the "there/they're/ their" and "your/you're " fiasco(s). It was hard enough figuring that crap out whilst not understanding wtf else was going on (and thus I'd much appreciate it if native speakers figure the crap I slaved so hard to understand out already). Blah. It's Saturday and I just want to sleep.... I'm lame and cranky. Sorry fellow sufferers of med school apps...Such is life, working, studying, applying...(and taking the pooches out so they don't pee in my tiny apt. More wine anyone?).

^^^^^ Not an ESL. Good thing we are not AdComms.

Hahahhaa good point. I'd reject me... So here's to hoping they are more flexible! (I kid, sort of. I've got some striking weaknesses, and also a few exceptional strengths.... But many, many weaknesses).

Anyone complete on 7/10 hear back? Seems like they went from people complete on 7/8-9 to 7/17

@hopeful418 @ryval @y123 @maximus_the_1 and really just anybody who has any information... What time does the interview day end? I'm trying to fit it in-between 2 other interviews to save money, but I need to make sure flights will work out before I confirm the date, and I can't find any information about the interview day.

Or all the applications submitted that week/ week and a half went to one reviewer who's slower than the other reviewers. Maybe they're also teaching the new MS1s, maybe they went on a vacation, or maybe their dog died and they just couldn't get through apps without thinking of Scruffy (the dogs name obv). We'll never know, RIP Scruffy!

Congrats guys, that's awesome! Approximately when are the interview dates offered?

Just got a Maine Track II!

Interviewing for Regular Track on 9/22, and Maine Track 10/16. Thrilled to have two shots at one of my top choices. Best of luck all!

10/16 was the first available date for MT.

Any of you applying to the MPH program as well? Do you need to submit your MPH essay before II consideration?

I am! I finished/submitted the entire application at the same time

For those of you ready to have your mind blown:

The "ft" in the "Tufts" logo looks like an elephant. Tufts' mascot is Jumbo..the elephant.

Bravo, Tufts.:claps:

Can I have my II now?
"What do you like about our school?" "Well, mainly it's just the way you managed to sneak an elephant into your logo." 😛

II? I think that qualifies for an automatic acceptance. LOL.
