2015-2016 Washington University in St. Louis Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
currently 245 in fb group for those who don't mind disappointment like me....

I think there's still a fair number of current students in the group, but they probably have their minimum now I assume.

Does Wash U re-review applicants post interview as the year goes on, or do they give each applicant the equivalent of one committee meeting appearance before they make an accept/reject/wait list decision? Some schools are pretty up front if they re-review, but I just can't remember what Wash U said because I was there a while ago.

Would be curious to know, because I was also there a while ago (October 1) and they didn't really reveal much information about the decision making process in general.

I wonder if they have always been this vague about their admissions process or if Dean Ratts has been implementing some changes and is being vague because of that.

I guess they have no incentive to share too much about their process. More transparency tends to = less flexibility, and who knows how much tweaking Dean Ratts still wants to do with her process. I know I also shouldn't be so impatient. It's just hard to be waiting on my last answer from a school I would give some organs to go to.

Are people sending letters of intent directly to Dean Ratts or going through the general admissions email? Would really love to end up here and am considering writing a letter.

how come there are new members being added to fb group this week (and last week)? Does that mean they are constantly offering acceptances or ppl just don't check their fb?

Fyi, second time applicant here, waitlisted last year. Had interviewed in November 2014 and didn't hear anything til I was waitlisted on 4/1/2015, and this wasn't "out of the ordinary." I fully expect the same trajectory this year. Hopefully this will help those with their conjecture-- this kind of lengthy process isn't new.

It's just as likely that new people were admitted as people who were previously admitted just joined (or just made an fb to join). I know a lot of people who don't join a school's accepted group as soon as they're in; instead some wait to join a single group until they're confident that's the school they'll be starting at. I think the Facebook group numbers will be more useful after 4/30, personally.

Best of luck to all of us still waiting for Dean Ratts's magical phone call!

It's worth noting that match day is this week. I wouldn't be surprised if much of the adcom has overlapping duties with that and are thus unable to deal with us temporarily. Or not...who knows.

Interesting...just received an email about the Med Shadow program for second look even though 1) I haven't been accepted yet and 2) have received no correspondence about second look!

Hopefully good news soon lolz?
Very interesting. I received a response to an email I sent a couple weeks ago asking about when I might hear wherein it was said that the school is rolling and many students are accepted in April and May from the waitlist. Wondering if I'm indirectly being told I'm waitlisted, Or if it's just a generic response.

LOL GUESS NAH HAHAHA

So this is my first post and no I'm not trolling, but I just got accepted via phone call around half an hour ago. I interviewed in January.

Congrats. Could you elaborate approximately when in January, and was the call from Dean Ratts or someone else? Thx

It was a physician on the admissions committee. I don't remember who. Extremely nice though. And it was the second week of January.

Did anyone who sent an update to Dean Ratts get a response back?

In the past, yes.
Dang, maybe I'll wait another week before confirming she got it. I lost her card she gave us on interview day so I sent it to the email listed on the admissions website. Not sure if that's the right one...

I sent it to the one on the website and I received a confirmation email from the Office of Admissions. Should we send them to Dean Ratts?

260 in the facebook group right now.. seems like there's about 56 current WUSM students (if you look at affiliations, which might be an overestimate).

Anyone know which Dean/person would be most responsible for merit-based scholarship?

Anyone know when we can expect financial aid decisions to come out?

Did anyone forget to send a dean certification in and get accepted? I interviewed back in like October but totally forgot about the certification. It's currently on its way via slow mail...:cigar:

See if you can get it faxed or emailed in. I got my Dean's Certification checked off the same day I sent it in that way.

That's a bummer. I'd say give them a call and let them know it's on it's way. In my experience, they try to be helpful and they can go look for something and put it into your file pretty quickly if you tell the office it arrived. So call them now and then call them back once it was supposed to arrive to ensure they got it. Nobody will blame you for checking! I hope it works out for you man.
