do you guys think any more calls are coming out today?
It seems like they tend to call on Thursdays?

But I'm feeling a little down about not getting a call either. For some reason, I had a really good feeling about it this week. But good luck to all still waiting!

admittedly i only interviewed this past monday so getting a call today was wishful thinking lol. do they meet every thursday or every other thursday?

Forgive me if this was brought up earlier in the thread, but did anyone else get two faculty interviews AND an MS4? Or is the first faculty member host at 9:15 am doing a presentation for all the interviewees? I'm crossing my fingers I don't have three interviews...

The MS4 on the schedule is your tour guide. Everyone my day had 2 interviews (1 long open file, and 1 short closed)

If this helps, I interviewed in early January and was told that the MD adcom is meeting on the 28th (they only meet once a month). They might not get to everyone and the next date after that is Feb 25. Not sure how soon after the meetings they send out letters. Good luck everyone, I'm hoping to hear back soon as well!
I guess I'm unlikely to hear until end of Feb 🙁

Ok so has anyone from the South been accepted?

Hey guys, anyone from November still not here back yet? Also, for those already accepted, how many are in the facebook group? Thanks!

I interviewed in October and haven't heard back

I also interviewed in early November and haven't heard anything. But to be honest, I don't think I have a good chance here.

Anyway, I'm still really confused about this regional acceptance idea. Can those of you who heard about it please explain it?

For those who have been accepted, what states were you from?

This regional bias thing seems to be something that only came up on one person's interview day. It certainly didn't come up on mine and people who were accepted around the same time I was were not from the same part of the country. I'm not trying to be rude or undermine what that person heard, but I wonder if there was a misunderstanding on their part. I certainly don't know how it was worded to them, but I can imagine several unclear statements about where a student is from in terms of when they interviewed that could account for their thinking it had to do with geography.

For what it's worth, my dean's wrap-up talked about the decision process as being related to who your interviewer was and when they had the chance to discuss you at the meeting. So, my interpretation was that a lot of the acceptance movement had to do with when your file was discussed at the committee.

For what its worth, during my interview day, I also dont recall hearing anything about regional acceptances. The only thing that I remember Dr. Ratts mentioning about admissions decisions is that most decisions would be released towards the end of the cycle. From my understanding, it also meant that most acceptances would come at that time.

Thanks for the response, this seems very logical to me.

I actually remember it being mentioned that the admissions decisions were split into regional groups and there being different committees for the different regions. Also, this is from a bio of someone on the admissions team which specifically states there being committees for different regions. How the timing of these committees making decisions lines up with other regions, I am not sure.

Wow that's interesting. I'm actually fascinated by how these admissions processes work. Was your sense that committees review applications for interviews, or post-interview decisions?

I was under the impression that they handle both II and final decisions, but at this point it seems like it's anyone's guess and I could easily be wrong haha. Although, just based off that bio snippet I posted, it sounds like the subcommittees only do primary apps.

Yup, no word and I interviewed towards the end of November

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted or received a II recently! I honestly stay up at night thinking about how much I want to go to this school. When I designated this school on AMCAS, in my head I was like, "LOL who do you think you are? Please, don't embarrass yourself." My application does not stand out at all and I wasn't even complete until December. I have no idea what the adcom saw in me that they even invited me for an interview. I still think it was a mistake and I somehow slipped through the cracks. The fact that I might have taken a more qualified applicant's interview spot actually makes me feel a little guilty.

I felt similarly, but ended up accepted! Don't sell yourself short, clearly the adcom saw something in your app they liked!

I am doing interview reviews of schools I interviewed at.

For WashU: Nice people, nice interviewers, great food for interviewees, great research. Iffy about Saint Louis, but great program nonetheless.

Keeping things brief.

Grade: A

I have felt really similar! It's a bad feeling, and you're probably selling yourself short. Seriously, if you haven't already, look up imposter syndrome and read about it. You deserved your II.

You guys are great! This is my first application cycle and as an international applicant, I kind of almost have no idea what I'm doing, so I've just had a really hard time not comparing myself to other applicants and focusing on where I fall short.

They need to admit more to account for yield.

True, I don't know exactly how many acceptances are given out, but they do give out more than 123. Personally, I can't see why anyone would want to go elsewhere though 😉

I feel like on their website they say how many people they accepted last year? I may be wrong, though.

Edit: after a quick glance, I may be wrong haha

Does anyone know when merit scholarships start going out?
