Anyone know when merit scholarships go out? And whether there is any correlation between money offered and date of acceptance?

Good luck to those waiting on an admissions decision.

Merit scholarships go out after financial aid applications are in, so at least after January? I would think scholarships go out after a good number of decisions have been made. And no, I don't think there is any correlation between money offered and date of acceptance. I remember someone posting here saying last year, there were a string of people with late acceptances that got merit scholarships.

Cool thanks for the information. Didn't they say at the interview though that financial aid materials aren't necessary to receive merit scholarships?

Ok, for everyone wondering when the acceptances seem to trickle in, I was checking the old WashU thread from last year, and it seems like a decent number of people get acceptances around December 18th. Maybe they want to chuck out some acceptances right before winter break starts.

I don't think they are. But I think they won't start sorting out anything pertaining to finances (merit scholarships, aid etc.) until a good number of acceptances have been given out/when they get a better sense of the makeup of the class?

My eyes don't shed tears, but boy they pour when I'm thinkin' 'bout WashU, oh no, no, no, I've been thinkin' 'bout WashU, you know, know, know. Do they think about me still, do they? Do they? Or do they not think so far, aheaaaad? Cause I been thinkin' 'bout foreverrrr...

When I scheduled my interview, I asked the woman on the phone if there was an advantage to interviewing early and she said absolutely not. This makes little sense to me because they are handing out spots as we speak. Does anyone understand this?

She's saying that they give applicants the same consideration regardless of the date of their interview. Most schools will tell you the exact same thing. That being said, some schools might interview more of their top applicants early on in the process, which might explain higher acceptance rates from earlier interviews. This is not something I'd worry over.

This may seem silly, but for those who attended the pizza party the night prior to their interview, what was the attire? I'm assuming it's casual but I don't want to underestimate anything.

Totally casual! I just wore jeans and that was fine.

I went there in my PJ

They are handing out spots, but very limited # of spots compared to the offers that will be made later in the season

Can we meet with certain student groups during our interview day? I thought I read this somewhere but now I can't find the info anywhere.

I don't remember there being any opportunity for this, but maybe after interviews finish? We were all on different interview schedules, kind of all over campus, so it seems like planning something like that would be difficult. Still, I remember leaving at around 2:30/3, so there would be time at the end of the day I bet. If it's important to you, maybe ask admissions and they could give you a better answer.

It's Thursday again boys!

Any II recently? I've been complete since 9/7 and still heard nothing

How many weeks after an interview have people been getting acceptance calls?

Hey guys,

Haven't really been following the thread but what is the typical timeline for hearing decisions post-IA. Searched the thread and see the Thursday thing but unclear on which interview group falls on a specific Thursday. Is there a ball park on how many weeks post IA?

Almost everyone will hear decisions in march. very few will hear before that on thursdays. this is what i've gathered.

How do we know decisions only come out on Thursdays?

Last year they gave out some acceptances on Dec 18th, the Friday before Christmas - so we may hear back today. OR they might give some out on the 18th. OR none of us got in so we should just stay put in a perpetual cycle of premed bliss.

Word on the street is that the timing around this part of the year changes based on WashU undergrad's finals week - the rumor is that they try not to release decisions in the middle of finals because it would be disruptive to a lot of the Seniors.

WashU finals week goes until Weds the 21st so I'd think the 22nd-23rd might see some activity.

Though as already said above I think only a minority of people hear back before March

Wow a call in the middle of the day is unusual!

Congrats!
Thanks guys! Yeah, I actually just got back from my last final, dumped my stuff on the ground, was eating lunch when I heard my phone buzz. My heart leapt out of my chest when I saw that it was from St. Louis 😀 😀

I wonder if their quota for trumpet players is full now? 😢
Have they accepted others? If so, can we get together and jam? Also, if I ultimately decide to go here, I'd be super psyched to play in the pit orchestra for the musical 😀

Seems pretty likely that we'll be classmates, looking at what schools you've gotten II's at in your post history. Brass quintet and chill?

I tap dance, so I'll be your percussionist. :zip:

And I interviewed 10/11 for those curious!
