So I crunched some numbers, RFU offers around 759 II (I forget the exact number), and has 189 spots. Thus, chances of an immediate acceptance post II is around 1 in 4 (the admissions people told me they don't over-accept like other schools). Assuming 1/2 of the accepted people and 1/3 of the waitlisted people decide against going to RFU (which seems to be the norm for lower stat MD schools), your total chance of admittance waitlist or otherwise appears to be 1 in 2.

I would like to add that a good 25% of our class comes from the BMS program. So I would say its more like 189 minus something like 45ish people that come from that program. For all other interviewees, you're probably looking at a lower percent acceptance and for less spots because of that

Did anyone else get a call today from Mr. Rowe to answer questions regarding your relations to the relatives/alumni reported in the secondary?

shoot didn't even think about the BMS program, and now I'm low-key freaking out now that I realize my odds have dropped haha

Just got placed on the alternate list, which I accepted. Interviewed in mid-November. I'm really bummed about this because I felt the interview went really well. LM 72 from an elite university. Not sure what went wrong.

Just got placed on the alternate list through email 🙁
Completed interview 11/12.

+1 alternate list. Damn that's a lot of us just here in this obscure part of the interwebs. I am now convinced that I must be #800 in line.

Wow, they are really rolling out their decisions. Haven't gotten an email yet. Interviewed 12/3. Do they send a generic email for alternate list or is it more specific to the individual?

Very generic, you don't get feedback or anything. If you don't have a W in your inbox rn, you're probably safe for the time-being.

+1 alternate list.... Interviewed 12/3.

EDIT: Does anybody have any idea on alternate list stats?

So many alts! Does this mean they’re just interviewing for the waitlist now? Is that a thing schools do?

Good luck to you all I hope there’s lots of waitlist movement!

what are the chances of getting accepted off the alternate list? I was placed on the list a few days ago and am freaking out coz I really felt like this was my best (out of 2) interview 🙁

I'm literally in the exact same situation. 2 interviews, thought this was the better one. LM 72. Good to know there are others in the same stressful situation lol

Placed on alternate list last Friday. Interviewed 10/3... will however not be accepting! Good luck all!

I sent this in a PM to an applicant. I figured I'd post here for all to see too

They (Chicago Medical School) dont overaccept students like most schools apparently. So, they never have more than ~189 acceptances out at a given time. So they waitlist a lot of people. And they slowly fill their class using the waitlist after the cycle is over and people drop their acceptance.

I'd say at least half the class was on the waitlist before getting an acceptance in May - July

Thanks for sharing! Also placed oN the WL, so will everyone on the WL get a number? Is it necessary to send an email to restate my interest or send updates after being waitlisted?

The waitlist isnt ranked. Not necessary to email the school. But, if it's been 3 months since your interview I think emailing at that point would be fine.

The school does not accept updates though

Thanks for this! Question -- do they pull people off of the waitlist periodically throughout the cycle or should we not expect to hear back before May? Their email said, "the Admissions Committee will revisit the alternate list beginning on or after December 20, 2019" if that makes any difference.

Uh for those of us who haven't heard back after 6 weeks (waitlist or otherwise), is this a soft R?

They said they revisit the alternate list after 12/20, pretty straight forward

No

Hi all! Thought I’d post as well to try to bring some holiday cheer. I’m a current 4th year student (so much free time currently ) and will say that I was waitlisted in December and then taken off the WL 2 weeks later. And similar thing with my class-where we had many students (who went on to do amazingly at CMs) who were pulled off the waitlist.

Great, thanks! So when you say half of your class was taken off of the waitlist between May-July, it doesn't include others that may have gotten off of it earlier in the cycle?
Apologies for the nitpicky questions, just trying to get a sense of what this alternate list really means.

Maybe half the class was waitlisted at some point. I believe most that were waitlisted came off after April 30th (like me), but that's a guess based on some talks with some classmates

Does anyone know the Admitted Student Visit Days this year? I remember there being three of them listed somewhere and I'm having trouble finding where I saw this. Won't be able to make the Feb 22nd one.

Does this school accept update letters? I haven't received an interview but was wondering if I should send in an update...

Pre-II rejection today. Knew it was a long-shot since I'm out of state and have lower scores for MD schools, so not very surprised.
But to answer @uRosINVo, I would assume this means they are still sending interviews, but not 100% sure.

Did it say status update or you got the rejection in the email?
