2019-2020 Indiana

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am so happy that I bailed on the SCP program early so I was able to get my acceptance on Oct 15th. I would be beside myself with anxiety if I only had silence from IU at this point (they were my only A). Hang in there guys!

Maybe next year they will come up with a different way of handling SCP applicants. Making you all wait this long seems less than ideal, and could honestly be a big disincentive for people considering the program.

Does anyone know if Indiana is receptive to post interview updates? If so where do we send them?

Have people that interviewed 10/9 heard back yet? If I haven't, same to assume R or WL?
I got the email about being complete and ready to go before committee at the beginning of November (the 9th I think), so I'm assuming a few of us from 10/9 interview day may here back this month

Any other accepted people get an email "Indiana University Scholarship Opportunities Available"? I have to log in to One.IU.edu to look at whatever it is and I can't figure out how to do so. Not sure I actually have access to that website yet.

You need a university ID. Contact admissions if you do not remember it.

I got that email too but I don’t think we have access to the website as yet.

Sent from my iPhone using SDN

Is that the same as the 10 digit number "graduate CAS application ID" that I got when I made an account to pay the graduate application fee? I tried using that to create an account and it didn't work. If that isn't the right number then I think I just haven't been sent an ID number yet.

I did email admissions as well, so we will see what they say.

Just got an email, placed on the alternate list for the SCP program. It says I'm still under consideration for the regular program

would there be an acceptance to regular admission before they take you off the alternate list for scp?

You should call and ask! This is the first year they are doing the program so no body would know...

Like someone else said, I’m sure admissions would know! But I have a feeling they would go ahead and make your regular admissions decision and not wait for the SCP spots. Should a spot in your concentration open up you would be given the option to take that instead. That’s how I’m assuming it works but it never hurts to clarify with someone that might actually know!

There's a link on one.iu where you can look up student IDs, if you've got one in the system, you could try there.

For those that received alternate SCP emails today, what campuses did you apply to? Were you all northwest? I’m curious if they are sending out decisions by campus or all at once?

Congrats on getting an alternate position by the way, to all of you!! I know it might not have been what you hoped for but it’s still a great place to be in. It means IU thinks you’re competitive enough to deserve a spot in the SCP program so your chances of a regular MD acceptance are super high, I think!

Mine was for South Bend

I think those who got accepted are going to get a letter so they most likely don't know yet. Is there anyone who has not heard back yet?
Applied to SB SCP, interviewed Oct, haven't heard anything whatsoever.

I haven’t heard anything either, October SB SCP interview. Has anyone been rejected? I imagine they will do rejections via email as well.

I have a feeling they won't reject anyone until late Spring. They'll either accept or WL us by Dec 15.

If your stats were high enough for SCP, I can't imagine them rejecting you this early on since IU is known for waiting until last minute for Rs/WLs, but we will see! This is just my theory

Right! I just meant rejection from the program (as in, sorry you are no longer in consideration from the SCP/are being put in the regular decision pool). They have to let all the SCP people know a decision in December, and that would include those who were not accepted or an alternate.

For all the SCP people:

One of my interviewers was the SCP director for the campus I interviewed at (Evansville). I was a regular MD applicant, but she told me that if I was interested in the SCP of the campus I was assigned to that they were also allowing regular MD students to apply to the SCP program during the beginning of their MS1 year. So if you are relegated from the SCP pool into the regular MD pool and receive an acceptance, you might consider ranking the campus of the SCP you are interested in as your top choice for campus assignment and essentially reapplying to the SCP once school starts in August.

Ah, gotcha! I still wouldn't be shocked if they didn't really "reject" people (from SCP) and only either accepted or "waitlisted". They seem to want to keep everyone around as an option until the very end and it doesn't seem like they're exactly on top of decisions right now :/ maybe I'm just being cynical though lol

@pre_med505 Thanks for sharing that IU ID lookup webpage! It looks like I don't have one of those yet, so I don't think accepted/admitted students actually have access to the site at this point. Guess they just jumped the gun with that scholarship email.

Is this school done giving out interviews/secondaries? I havent heard from them whatsoever and I submitted in late August.

Does anyone know if IU is sending out regular acceptances in December too, or only SCP? I interviewed back in September and am really hoping I don’t have to wait another month!

I cant say for sure. But they are most likely doing both! Im assuming they sent out SCP early so they can send out regular decision on the 15th!

Definitely not done giving out interviews- I submitted late August as well and got one last week.

Wednesdays

Thanks for looking out!

I just remembered that last year we got to choose the site for our interview before receiving the official date but I did not do that this year upon receipt of supplemental portal following interview invitation.

Am I correct or did forget something??

They assign you a location and are adamant on you attending at that specific time and location.

Thank you for clarifying that. It sounds like there's a possibility I will be flying and interviewing outside of Indianapolis? I wonder why they changed it from last year's preference.

Kind of a dumb question. This is my only current interview and it is in early January but do you all think that makes me more likely for a wait list?

Re-Applicant with Interview last cycle. OOS.

Interview Invite for this cycle received 11/14/19.

Official Interview Date received today for 1/15/2020. Indy!

Anyone down to meet up for dinner the night before?

They say that they hold spots open the whole cycle and your chances of admission dont go down later in the cycle since they dont do a true "rolling" admissions process, so hopefully that is accurate!

This is also what I believe. But also, you can't do anything about your interview date, so try your best not to create additional anxiety from factors outside of your control, especially minute factors such as interview date. They offered you an interview, so they are clearly interested in you.

Question for those of you who had an afternoon interview at the Indianapolis location- the application portal says the interview would end at around 4:00pm, did yours end around this time? If so, do you guys think catching a 6:30pm flight would be possible? Thanks!

Mine ended right at 4!

Thanks you're right, it was just something that popped into my head the other day.
