2019-2020 Jefferson (Kimmel)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is there a premed advisor or committee at your school who can review LOR? I was worried about one of mine and mentioned it to my premed advisor, but she told me she read it and I should use it
Hello and sorry but does your profile pic have anything to do with The Bachelorette? 😍🤣

is it me or did last years thread have more ii action around this time of year?

they definitely did - I don't imagine their policies have changed - maybe just fewer SDNers were in their first wave??

I feel like maybe the new traffic rules of the last cycle has lead to a situation where the last cycle is bleeding into this one a bit more than usual? So adcoms may still be busy finalizing their class? I was on the phone w an MD/PhD adcom from a different school and they offhandedly made a comment to this extent.

it could be - I believe their orientation started this week so they'll probably be up to full speed review again soon

do you guys think it's too late to add this school? also, have they sent out IIs yet?
I was looking to potentially add Jefferson - saw your post and pulled the trigger this morning. Immediately sent off my secondary this afternoon after they gave me a secondary. Not too late if you're already verified just turn around that secondary!!

so only two people so far now? bit odd that they are sending it out so slowly, either that or people just haven't responded to the thread

OOS, submitted 7/18/19 and currently under review.

Jefferson doesn't have a hard 2-week deadline does it? I just noticed this on their secondary "To activate your application, please complete and return this form with your activation fee within two (2)weeks.".

Hopefully not cause I'd be 2 days late. Oops.

see a few posts above

Considering adding this school! 1. Do yall think I'm too late? 2. Has anyone posted the secondary prompts? Figured I should look at those before deciding...

Current 2nd year here, lmk if you guys have any questions

Does anyone else's application status say "Application is under review" ?

Hey, how do you like living in Philly, what is the housing situation like. Is it easy to find housing near campus?

Love philly. Everything you need to within walking distance: groceries, bars, restaurants, target, etc. Its best to find a few other classmates and live off campus. Its cheaper and you have more freedom. Perhaps living on campus for first year isn't all that bad, it was really convenient when I did it. You can try websites such as apartments . com or zillow. Also upper years post on the class facebook to look for roommates.

Thanks!! Do they have Trader Joe’s in Philly?

Uhh I havent been to the trader joes here, but people told me it isnt too far away, but you definitely need some type of transportation to get there. Not as walk-friendly haha

Philly is honestly one of the most under-rated cities. Great food & stuff to do - and if you every somehow get bored you can just hop on a bus/train to NYC/DC/Baltimore and be there pretty quickly. Lots of great stuff within 1 hr of Philly too

Within the city limits? I'm not sure but I know there are plenty of Costcos, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, etc. within 1 hr so I would imagine so

There's a Trader Joe's on 22nd and Market - which is probably about a 25-30 minute walk form campus, I'd guess

My LORs didn't meet their requirements (missing a physics letter) and I never sent them any message or anything asking for an exception. I still got an II but do you guys think I should still send that exception request email?

You could just tell them (i.e. casually mention) at the interview, but I think they figured it out.

I know lots of people that got As that were told to just not worry about it - it seems like they make exceptions often enough that it's really not a big deal
