Hate to ask but anyone from 11/20 interview hear back today? I know it's still really early, especially with Thanksgiving and the snow.
 
Has everyone heard back regarding IS vs OOS tuition? I haven't heard anything and I submitted 7/24...

I heard back relatively soon after submitting (within 3 weeks) that I was approved for in-state tuition. I'm not a current MA resident, but I grew up there, so I qualified under special circumstances. I believe their criteria are that you have to have lived in MA for at least 7 consecutive years.
 
Have they sent any OOS IIs recently? I know they try to keep OOS students on the front end and tail end of the season to avoid winter related travel issues but just wondering!
 
Is active consideration the same as waitlist here? I just received the email and it seemed to be phrased as a waitlist email without explicitly saying it.

No, it means they're still considering where to put you. I don't know if anyone's been waitlisted yet, but active consideration means they haven't resolved your application to an A/R/W yet.
 
Does anybody know the IS interview invite rate? Is it like, they interview a lot and accept few or is it the other way around? Just extremely curious. I am IS.
 
HI All. Submitted 10.18.19 and got an R this morning, 12.6.19. Kind of a reach for me but still shot at it. OOS, URM, with average MCAT. Good luck to the rest of y'all!

I'm trying not to catastrophize now....like what if I tank my Computing II/ Calc II classes that I'm taking this semester, to upgrade my biology degree to bio info? It would make almost no difference in my overall GPA because I already have 122 credits, but it may look like a stark drop.

I just can't believe they gave me an invite! All the other amazing MA candidates...this might sound weird but it's like...what did they see in me?

So, I can't seem to find this on the website- does anybody know what UMASS's curriculum looks like? Do they offer TBL/PBL, or is it just lecture-based?
I'd like to know before going in for the interview, but since I don't know how the interview day is structured, I don't know if we'll be told what the curriculum setup/ options are before the MMI.

You’ll find out on the morning of your interview whether you are in the morning MMI or the afternoon. I happened to be in the afternoon group, so we had info sessions, tours, and lunch before the MMI, so I did know what the curriculum was like before the interview. However, the MMI didn’t cover any info that would require prior knowledge of UMass or its curriculum, so either morning or afternoon groups are fine.

Okay, fair enough. So nothing to worry about.
However- what is the curriculum like? Is there PBL/TBL?( for my own info)

I just found that after I posted my question. It looks like there is no PBL track, just a little integrated into some courses. Hm. I may like that more than all PBL and def sounds better than ALL lecture.
 
Has anyone who interviewed 10/29 received a status update besides 'active consideration' at around two weeks post-interview?

Sigh.. been complete since 7/15 and complete radio silence. IS and not applying for PURCH. Is this essentially a silent rejection?
 
Does anyone know which hotels offer the UMass Med discount? Trying to find the closest/cheapest place to stay

Congratulations! Did you find out via phone call, portal, or email? I interviewed mid November, and I'm anxious to hear back!

Hm no I did not. My AAMC/MCAT stuff was linked to my normal email. I know some schools recruit using information from MCAT/AAMC so I really did not want to cause confusion. I was very surprised about the mmi and discovered it from spam 2 days later because it was sent on a Friday (thankfully UMass schedules for you, so I didn't miss out on any dates) all my other secondaries/II came through fine my normal email. I did start meticulously checking spam for IIs after this haha. The portal also has a "check" next to the interview box so if anything was missed that should provide some information as well.
 
Anybody else interviewing in Jan? Hopefully, there are still seats in the class:prof:
 
Anybody know how many students in the accepted students group?
