maybe someone's already mentioned this on the thread, but are anyone else's eyebrows raising at the 75% post-II acceptance rate here? Is that cuz they have low yield so they have to keep pulling from their waitlist as people turn down the acceptance? seems weirdly high

hmm unsure about that. If I recall correctly with NUPSP and HPME it’s only like 10-15 students top entering in a new class? Someone correct me if I’m wrong

From last years thread: To correct my math for HPME (24 people) and NUPSP (11 people), 498/656 = 75.9%, so still near 77% lol

According to MSAR, Northwestern only has ~20 people in its BS/MD program compared to ~60 from Brown. Considering Northwestern also interviews almost twice as many applicants as Brown, I don't think it makes as big of a difference. If you take away the 16 OOS BS/MD from MSAR and subtract that from the total number of accepted, the post II acceptance rate drops down to about 65%, which is lower but still pretty high

Most schools suggest after your initial decision if you end up on the waitlist, although I know a few (both Mayo campuses) suggest you send them one whenever. I don't remember Feinberg's policy.

Similar question. What would be a good time to send a letter of interest? Just had my interview last Wednesday, and Dr. Kundu said they appreciate letters of continued interest.

Unfortunately does not fit on a scale of nature publication to nobel prize. I included a few minor things- abstract accepted to conference, paper submitted to low-IF journal, new clinical experience/job over winter break.

Probably not worth it if you don't have any substantial updates. I sent one and submitted early Sep, but I had a publication get accepted.

FWIW: the kind of behavior described actually does happen every so often on SDN. We’re all a little bit neurotic and I think this is all just a misunderstanding. Let’s all hope we’re classmates this year :^)
