Where are you getting this 200 number from. Inquiring minds want to know
See, there is this theory that only a small to average number of candidates has been accepted. There is nothing to substantiate it. In reality who really knows what’s going on. I’m just waiting for Marty Makary tonwrite a book on transparency in Medical Schools admissions 🙂

There have likely been over 100 acceptances given out at this point.
Given the class is roughly 130 students there is a big possibility that none of the older interviewees will hear back until May, when everyone is required to drop all but one acceptance.

I apologize that our schools keeps you all in the dark. Our admissions process is less than ideal, mainly because as much as everyone complains, the students still come to our school and we never have a problem filling spots.

I hope I’m wrong, and that the email you all received is truthful and accurate.

Thanks for letting us know. This just cements the fact that some institutions could care less about having decency towards their applicants who have poured their hearts and souls into their applications and interviews. And they can get away with this because we're all on our knees. On US news 122/182 IS accepted people matriculate.. they know we all want to go there.

Oh well!

Oh well 🙂 we’re done then. Happy Holidays! 🙂

Wow I didn’t know this was the only school that didn’t have a problem filling spots. Truly one of the most pretentious things I’ve read on this site. I’m out

I appreciate you trying to ease the situation. However, I don't think it helps to speculate even more than what other posters here have been doing these past few weeks (especially since people here probably think you have more merit due to your status as a UCLA student).

In reality, no one really knows what the adcomm is planning on doing, and the more theories that are thrown into the pile, the more anxious and frustrated everyone will be. In reality, we should all just forget we interviewed here until the decision comes (easier said than done of course, but it's possible). As an old applicant waiting since August, I have realized that coming up with new theories daily (and hourly lol) only eats away at your sanity.

I apologize if it seems like I’m speculating. I actually have good reason, being a student and hearing things, to believe that majority of the acceptances have been released. However, there absolutely are some that will be released within the next 2 months. I just don’t know who they will he for. During my cycle this also happened, except there was radio silence and people from Aug and sept didn’t hear anything until March. Given how many things are changing at the admissions level it is contributing to this chaos and it sucks that you all have to suffer.

I just want you all to prepare for the absolute worst, because then it may not sting as much, and if it’s an acceptance then you won’t even care.

As I've said a while ago: Let's set a good example for next year's cycle, who will most likely experience a delay similar to this!

Also, this isnt exclusive to UCLA, Its almost every school.

Dammit and I thought interviewing early was supposed to be a good sign. I wonder why this is for the August and September folks.

This all makes sense, except then whats the point of UCLA continuously telling us we “will hear in the coming weeks and to rest assured we will get a decision shortly”?

Edit: re read your earlier post, saw you are already aware of these silly messages. Thanks for the info anywayss

there’s the assumption that everyone in the admissions office communicates with one another. That’s not necessarily true, also, the person/s writing these emails may be doing them in good faith, but not realizing that they are giving false expectations and they’re not wrong btw, some people have gotten an acceptance. But not all have gotten a final decisions lol, so they are very silly email and kind of cruel in my opinion.

Everyone, take a second and think. There is absolutely no way that all/almost all of the acceptances were given to those who interviewed in the first two months Maybe the majority(>50%) but certainly not all. That makes no sense. The medical school is always going to act in its best interest. By that logic, why the F would they waste their money on the rest of us and why would they not instead compare everyone to everyone else before making a final decision? I would assume they want the best of the best. Therefore it makes zero sense to assume that we’re screwed. Even if the majority of acceptances have been given out the actual acceptance rate shouldn’t vary significantly. I know a lot of ppl still haven’t heard back. But how many is “a lot”. Like 200? Okay let’s assume it’s 200ppl and 120 acceptances have been given. Then the amount of acceptances left to give should be about 100, totaling, 220 acceptances.( I believe this number is decently close to the actual number). Therefore about half of us should get in. Notice how the hypothetical scenario above shows the acceptance rate is about 50% even though most of the acceptances have been given out( 120 given and 100 left for 200 people). Hope this calms everyone. I know this process takes a toll on people’s minds It’s unrealistic to not think about it. My advice is to always ask yourself what you would do if you were given the responsibility of running admissions. This mindset has helped me cope without all the neuroticism, paranoia, anxiety, etc . These are all valid feelings and they deserved to be addressed rather than contained. I highly recommend you try this if you’re stressing.

From your knowledge, how many total acceptances are typically given out?
