Honestly I highly doubt there is any sort of concrete information to be obtained from the patterns of these emails. I completely understand the paranoia and have engaged in it myself at times but you’re likely much better off if you unplug from it. None of us here have any answers

Sorry to add to the speculation, but did anyone who got waitlisted also get the travel award?

There have likely been over 100 acceptances given out at this point.
Given the class is roughly 130 students there is a big possibility that none of the older interviewees will hear back until May, when everyone is required to drop all but one acceptance.

I apologize that our schools keeps you all in the dark. Our admissions process is less than ideal, mainly because as much as everyone complains, the students still come to our school and we never have a problem filling spots.

I hope I’m wrong, and that the email you all received is truthful and accurate.

In the holiday email they stated that they will be out of the office for the holidays after the end of the business day yesterday. So I’m almost sure that means no A’s R’s or WL’s until they return after the new year!

Thanks UCLA for making me anticipate that I'll hear back by today. The past two weeks were pure torture. Those update emails are god awful for the well-being of your prospective students if they aren't truthful.

I for one think it is kind of the admissions team to try to share updates with applicants throughout the cycle, even if timelines do get delayed. I'm sure it must be incredibly challenging to review >10K applications in a fair and timely manner, and with spots being accepted/turned down constantly, I understand if dates get bumped. At most other schools, I've had virtually zero communication before or after interviewing--so a nice "hang in there" email doesn't seem so bad to me!
