2020-2021 Stanford

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
An interview tab appeared for me under 'Stanford Supplemental Application.' The 'schedule interview' page was one of the sub-tabs under that tab.
Thanks for letting me know! And thanks for telling us that you also got the II email from Stanford. I will be on the lookout for that email *fingers crossed*.

Congratulations on your II!! 😀

I haven't yet. I have 2 weeks from now.

So what I'm gathering is that just now you got a VITA invite AND an actual II that showed up on the portal, even though you haven't completed VITA yet. Is that correct? Sorry I'm just trying to figure out where I stand cuz I was NOT expecting this lol.

Did you also just receive the VITA status update, or did you get this before?
Stanford was my first VITA school. I actually got the whole AAMC VITA emails after an email from Stanford saying I had an II. I think emails about VITA only go out on Thursdays and Stanford told me yesterday.

Yep.

who wants to bite the bullet and call the adcoms?
Just check your supplemental admissions portal website. If you see the option for Interviews, then you got it. If not, I guess just hang in there. Stanford sent me a message too saying I was selected, I did not just hear from VITA.

I had already completed the VITA portion earlier for another school. Do you just get an update from VITA if you get an II from Stanford as well?

So you also got an email from AAMC at 1PM PST saying that Stanford was added to your VITA list? But you also got an II email? Is that bad news for the rest of us that didn't get an II email?

It seems that almost all of us have no II email and no option to schedule an interview with Stanford on the portal.

And +1 to anyone want to be the hero we don't deserve and call/email admissions about if an II email should follow a VITA invitation?

Have a bad feeling that VITA invite does not equal II. They may just be using it as another factor to screen our apps (like GPA or MCAT), and thus the VITA request. Who knows

I got my AAMC VITA confirmation today at 8 am EST. Stanford Admissions also emailed me saying I was selected yesterday afternoon.

This is what I suspect as well.

Hate to ask, but did anyone who is applying and has been complete for a while NOT receive a notification that Stanford was added to their VITA list? If a large number of people didn't get it, it's definitely a good sign for those that do.

If someone got an II and then the VITA request, wouldn't that suggest that it's not a pre-screen? It seems strange that they would use it as a pre-screen for some and a part of the actual interview process for others.

did anyone who has already gotten an II from Stanford regular MD also get Stanford added to their VITA list? now im wondering if anyone just got the II without having to do VITA lol
Hey! Did you end up getting an II from Stanford after they sent you a VITA request?

In Stanford's II, they said that I had to take the VITA as well, and I should look out for it on Thursdays.

That's what I'm referencing, since you got the II before you had done the VITA! You're kinda proof that it's not a pre-screen imo haha but also I know nothing sooo

Got VITA invite this morning at 8am EST, but no email from Stanford... I read that people who got VITA this morning also got email from Stanford yesterday. Slightly worried it gets my hopes up but I'm not getting an II lol

It will be great if whoever received II already could share your timeline of getting VITA invite/schoollist update and the actual II!

how do you guys know the VITA is from Stanford??? I just got one too at the exact same time as everyone!!!

Is there anyone who got VITA on 10/15 still waiting for an II?

No one found out about VITA on 10/22, so hopefully it's II in bi-weekly batches instead of some pre-II supplement (which would likely be on rolling basis)

Yeah I'm leaning towards thinking these are actual IIs. for one, IIs have been kinda trickling in over the past couple of weeks with no big way. Also, the prior messages showed that people usually got VITA invite and then (after a few days) the formal II. Ofc, this is 100% confirmation bias 🙂

Has anyone who applied for Knight-Hennessy gotten a VITA invite or II? Was wondering if they are considering KH applicants later in the cycle when the KH committee reviews them too.

People who got VITA on 10/15 but didn't get II would be the most anxious and likely to post a lot on this thread. The lack of those people suggests everyone who got VITA on 10/15 ended up getting an II, though it took 10 days for someone to receive II after getting VITA. Either way I think the II odds looking good for people who got VITA today

I think this is highly unlikely. I think I remember hearing in a KH webinar that the reviews are independent of each other until a point in December when the KH program sends the graduate degree programs a list of who they're still seriously considering and they compare notes if that makes sense. But then again, what do I know I haven't gotten a II or even a VITA invite from Stanford lol

I applied to KH and got an VITA invite today. But no email from stanford yet

oops I accidentally sent you $6, can you send me $1 back @SorryIDidntReadAll9PagesOfThisThread
That $1 is mine. I'm going to use it to bribe Stanford into adding me to that VITA list.
I'm sorry, I must have missed that. All I have seen so far is conjecture. Did you read something official from Stanford?
Nothing official, but the folks that got the VITA thing were later sent official IIs. These same folks also had difficulties with scheduling. Someone contacted admissions and it fixed the error and spots opened up. Best course of action, call the office of admissions. @brobamacare will also pay you $5 for your troubles. 😉

Complete 7/23 received VITA invitation today (already completed) but no II (yet, hopefully). Also applied PSTP

Hi guys, my gf got an AAMC Vita interview invitation from Stanford but isn't sure what that means in terms of her application. Are all applicants to Stanford required to do a Vita interview, or does receiving an invitation mean she got through a preliminary hurdle in the cycle?

Not everyone who applies is required to do VITA. Currently, it seems that anyone who receives the VITA update with Stanford is going to receive an II from Stanford within the next 10 days. There's been a lot of discussion on this, so I would scroll through the last few pages of this thread to get more clarity. Hope this helps.

Since Stanford is mcat blind until after interviews and my mcat is pretty low for matriculants, is it worth it to retake it? My interview is pretty soon though so I'm not sure what's the best approach. Seems kind of dumb they would take the time to interview someone just to reject them later because of a stat they could've used as a weed out early on
Don't retake just for the sake of one school. If your MCAT is in range for a lot of the other schools you applied to, then I personally wouldn't retake it.

pls do not retake an mcat for this reason. If they gave you an interview they like you and will consider you. Y'all wont believe in holistic admissions until after you matriculate but they exist.

Did everyone who got a VITA update including Stanford also get an email from them confirming the II? Just wondering because I just got the VITA update, but no email from Stanford yet!
+1. Only got the VITA interview invite
