2020-2021 UC Riverside

When I talked to admissions awhile back they told me they don't care what your exact numbers are, but rather that you can take a test. For example, if you scored high in Chem/Phys or Bio on the MCAT but bombed the CARS section (like me), they would be relatively okay with this. Same follows with the GPA and the trend.

That is interesting.

I do know that UCR is more of a “fit” school since they want primary care physicians for specifically the Inland Empire.

So UCR cares more about individual scores than the overall number? I wonder if this is how they determined who gets secondaries as well...since they apparently screen.

XX

I did email UCR and apparently they didn't make a decision on my application yet. They apparently end interviewing in March...and they make some sort of decision in March.

The admissions committee will decide by the end of March which applicants will get an invitation.

Wonder if this means a II or an acceptance...if I do get a II in between now and March?

I would love to come here, but I know my chances are getting slimmer as the days tick on.

Thank you for sharing the update. If this is their wording, it seems like all interview invitations will be sent out by the end of March.
I think this is also true because UC Davis is interviewing through April and Riverside got an even later start. I can't see how they would start later than other schools, but also be able to send out all acceptances by the end of March.

Hmmmmm...so that means that they’ll be interviewing past March if they’re offering invitations in March?

The wording was kind of oddball and I’m not eager to bother them about it. They seem busy.

I would love to go here for school though, which is why I’ve been perusing it carefully.

That's really interesting, thanks for sharing their response to you on this. Fingers crossed for you and everyone waiting on an invitation!

Interviewed mid-November and no word since. Anyone else in the same boat?

Does anyone know where they are in terms of interview process? Are they still even sending out IIs?

They might send one last round of IIs for March (March is also the last month they interview). I'm scheduled for February as well as a bunch of others. I wouldn't be surprised if all of February has been booked already.

does anyone know if they accept updates/ letters of interest

I still haven't received any response so far from the school. I just hope there's still a chance. Does anyone know if the UC's follow the same timeline? I just heard back from UC Davis but nothing from this school.

Same. I'm having an internal battle with myself wondering if a pre-II LOInterest would do anything, but also afraid it might hurt my chances. I look towards the east side of my window every morning and just sigh in sadness wondering if UCR notices me. LOL.

Note: IE resident.

I don't know honestly. I mean for me, had I not emailed admissions about my secondary I would have never received one. The silence kills lol

I'm contemplating the same thing as well.

Also an IE resident.

I requested an application update. I was interviewed in early November. This is what they said to me:

“Hello [redacted],
We accept applicants on a rolling basis, and we plan to fill our class completely by August. So, the latest you could hear back about a decision would be August.

We thank you for your patience as we continue to communicate decisions to applicants.

Best wishes,
Sydnee Larson | Admissions Coordinator”

Wow that's much later than I would've expected. Isn't August when classes start!?

I recently had an interview with UCR and can confirm this. They told us this verbally during the interview day.

Damn they really are holding interviewees’ lives hostage lol

I think most schools pull people as late as August because people will drop right before classes start if they get off the WL to a school they prefer a lot more. While it probably doesn't happen often, I could see it causing a chain reaction across schools. So to cover themselves, schools will say they can pull people as late as August because it does happen with last second WL movement.
