2021-2022 Tulane

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I decided to email them. At this point rather send an email then wait until it's too late.
i mean i emailed them a few weeks ago a nice “hey just wanted to make sure there’s nothing else you need for my application!” that was after completing the secondary though and i mostly checked because i’d had an issue at another school with an LOR. they responded kindly that my app was all in order. i feel like that’s kind of a different tone than sending a “why haven’t i gotten a secondary or under review” yet email. so i think it’s just depends on your tone. obviously they’ve had issues and we all know that. and small batching. like wysdoc said it’s still really early. i think it’s SUPER EASY to see a couple people get II’s and fall prey to the scarcity mindset. which i get its scarce to get an II at tulane, but we all can’t forget it’s early. i’m a reapp so it’s def get its tough though!

As a current incoming T1 student, I can say that ED applications are reviewed and given II first. The rest will follow, so try to stay patient.

TUSOM is also managing Orientation this week. We also had a power outage last week, so can explain why we are "slower".

I'll try to check these forums as much as I can to try to settle some nerves!

Would anyone mind dropping the exact email address that sent you the secondary for Tulane? I really want to make sure I haven't missed it, because I've had their secondary written for months

Me, who sent that email almost 3 hrs ago, still waiting on a secondary :,)

For anyone who hasn't received a secondary, just got this email back:

"
We are currently experiencing some delays in our system that is delaying sending out secondary applications to our applicants. This delay will not affect your application review as the committee has not begun the review process of any applications and will not start the process until this matter is corrected. We are hoping to have this issue corrected this week. We thank you for your patience and wish you well with your application.
"

Definitely just a copy-paste answer but I'm sure they're getting a lot of these. Hope this helps.

Secondary received today after being verified on July 21. Definitely took longer than expected but it definitely means there are plenty more secondaries to send out! Good luck everyone!

Aaaaaaaaaaand, just like that, I received my secondary.

Might've hit a record in turnaround time, definitely created my profile, pasted my essays, and paid $125 in less than 10min.
App anxiety do be hitting different

I also sent an email but I got a reply that they are working through issues and won't look at any apps until it is solved. Did you also get that email and then a secondary email later?

Yes, the secondary invite came separate from my inquiry to the admissions office

Same here. I emailed them and 15 min after they replied I received it.

I got this after submitting:
We would like to inform you that your application is complete. Your portal will have a red exclamation point stating you are in progress and this will remain until you are assigned to a screener. Once assigned, the checkmark will turn green and your application is now considered under review. You will receive another email once a decision is made on your application. We thank you for your continued patience with the application process and we wish you success.

I see all green checkmarks under the status does that mean I am good? Also, there is no Casper section that I see. Is it like that for everyone?

Sounds about right. So, you will now either receive an interview, put on WL or be rejected (last option is the least common). As for when you hear back, that is almost impossible to determine.

CASPer is not required for your TUSOM application. To quote their page (CASPer Test),

"The information CASPer provides will be of additional benefit to the Admissions Committee when reviewing applications. You are able to submit your application to TUSOM as soon as it is complete."

What does the under review email look like?

Dear (deleted so i don’t doxx myself):

We would like to inform you that your application is complete and under review. You will receive another email once a decision is made on your application. We thank you for your continued patience with the application process and we wish you success.

If you would like submit additional items to your application, you can upload those items to your application portal under, the "User Profile" tab. From there you will select "Document Upload". All items must be in a PDF format. This will be the only way to provide updates to your application.

Sincerely,

As a re-app, the note about the green exclamation point I think is left over from last year when they used a different portal and you literally got a picture of a green exclamation point when you were under review. I’ve had all green checks for a couple weeks and just went under review today. Could be wrong but I think all green checks just means they’ve gotten all your stuff not that you’re necessarily under review.

this just proves that them sending it late means people who got it early have an advantage

I thought they are not going to review people until they fix the secondary issue, but the people who got their secondary early are going under review for II already? This scares me TBH .....🙁

I got and completed my secondary today and also went under review today, so maybe today was the final secondary batch and they started reviewing today?

Does anyone know if this exclamation point is a separate line from the "application complete" line under the application status? I do not have a red exclamation point, so not entirely sure where the green checkmark will be!

Edit: Submitted 07/29

i really don't think it exists this cycle. last year they used a different system and there was a literal green exclamation point that came up (in place of a red x) when you went under review. last years portal was totally different, and i feel like they just forgot to delete that line when they switched. i don't think you're under review until you get an under review email. green checks just mean they have that item.

Any other OOS not receive a secondary yet? Verified 6/18 and nothing yet :/

OOS received 7/30

For question #4 "Please list your hobbies and major non-academic interests. (150 words)", what are your thoughts on how to answer this? Would you just list them, or write a paragraph and say something about them? Thanks!

I always think a little bit of narrative for context is a good idea. Doesn't have to be much (obviously, with a 150-word limit).

I listed them and then wrote a little blurb about the ones I didn't mention in my primary app or had a little story behind them

OOS, verified 7/15, received secondary today.

For extra information, I also sent them an email about 30 minutes prior, so you do what you want with that info. I think it's likely they were about to send it to me anyway.
