there are two forms you have to sign and date. One is a us citizenship form and the other is a two sheet form (i forgot what was on it).

If you're going to leave a check with your roommate: Make it out to suny stony brook (i'm pretty sure) for $100. Also, leave them a (signed) letter expressing your interest in accepting stony brook's offer.

You have 14 days to respond upon receiving the acceptance package. Good luck and have a great trip. I hope you return to good news.

Ohhh.... And you also have to send them a photocopy of your passport or your birth certificate (or some equivalent) to prove your citizenship.

thanks! And thanks Mcgyver

Hey, I called them and they said despite the fact that I never received a "complete" email, I am indeed complete there and that my file is still being processed. Do I have a chance at an interview here or am I pretty much out of the running for Stony Brook at this point? Also I was wondering if they had a policy of only attending to out of state applicants (which I am) after a certain point in the cycle or something.

Hi Spaceman and to all that have had interviewed on or before 10/30

I have not heard anything yet so what does it mean a rejection ? Did anyone else hear anything else and have interviewed 10/30 or before ?

I was not scared until I read this site😕😕😕
I interviewed in september, and still no decision. I have called a few times, they said my file has been reviewed, but they haven't made a decision. They assured me this wasn't a bad thing (i think it is) and couldn't tell me when they would make a decision.

Hmmm.... I wish they'd make a decision on a few of us, ya know? Waiting is killing me 🙁

i dont think you should consider the fact that they are late to mean you are rejected. Sometimes they take a while to review certain applicants mayb because they feel they need more time to review you or because they just havent reviewed your post-interview app yet. Mayb the person that interviewed you hasnt completed your evaluation, not sure if thats possible. If you are really concerned, you should give them a call, and i advice you not to sound frustrated, but patient & interested about your status.

Best of luck to you.

I completely agree, esp with this whole interview process being random and such, so you never quite know the inner-workings of their minds.

i think they interview until march so u should still have a chance.
i dont think they have any policy for out of state students except that tuition will be higher for them. in state and out of state students will have a chance until the end of the interview process. However, since it is a SUNY, a state school, they will prefer students from ny. im not sure what the statistic is but more than half students accepted are from in state.

good luck

When I interviewed, they said that out-of-staters can apply for in-state tuition, but overall tuition will be increased across the board starting spring 2009.

yea i think i heard that too during my interview. the financial consultant told us that their tuition cost has been the same for a couple of years now but that she was almost certain that it was goign to increase at least 2k for next year students.
happy new years to everyone.

Wow man, I'm feeling you. I was looking at your profile... hang in there man!

Anyone heard anything from SB yet after they have interviewed? I called and they said no decision has been made, what does that supposed to mean it has been 2 months going into 3rd ?

I interviewed 9/18 and was accepted 10/31. That's a bout a month and a half and i interviewed early. They're probably even more backed up now because of the holidays. so hang in there!

dont lose hope, it just prolly means they need more time to review your app and it doesnt necessarily mean that u r rejected.

best of luck to you and everyone else

ya bro, i remember we waited for our decisions together. did you call recently to ask what's going on?
Yup I did, they said basically they have reviewed my file, but no decision has been made, and they can't tell me when one will be made. They said not to worry and this didn't mean it was necessarily a bad thing. I guess it is kinda of like a post-interview hold..

not hearing better than being put on the waiting list?
What % of ppl get in on the waiting list anyway?

Got the letter via fedex. I interviewed on 12/09. Nice school and facilities

Interviewed 12/3

Haha thanks! We should lol

I'm extremely relieved and thankful. I was definitely impressed with Stony Brook. I'm going to send my deposit ASAP.

Officially wait listed (post interview). I'm a bit disappointed, but it's better than being rejected.

sigh

i was waitlisted too. I remember hearing they accept a large number of applicants off the waitlist so we are still in the running. good luck man.

hey just wondering for those of you who were waitlisted, how did they contact you?

thanks

I just interviewed here and loved it, everything about it. The students, of whom I swear I met close to 20, were all very happy and positive they were at the right spot. Seems the classes are very close knit, collegial, and laid back. The facilities are great, brand new, state of the art sim labs in addition to beautiful exam rooms for standardized pt. visits. In addition, there are mountains of clinical experience in the first couple years before moving into the clinical years done at great facilities.

Being given the opportunity to attend here would truly be a privilege, an opportunity I would likely jump on as after today this school has definitely moved to the top of my wish list.

Congrats to all those holding acceptances, I hope to join ya!

Just received the overnight fed ex letter this morning. Interviewed 12/18. I'm THRILLED! I absolutely loved this school....i will most likely be attending.

Yeah... I'd imagine so. They accept ~ 300 applicants / yr for a class size of 120, so I imagine there is huge wait list movement.

*crosses fingers* 😀

Hey guys,

what's the interview day like at Stony Brook? Is there a presentation, lunch with medical students, medical school tour? I got an e-mail from admissions today confirming my interview appointment, but there were no interview day agenda attached...

Oh, and is interview day really over by 2:30? Or does is usually/sometimes take longer?

Big congrats!

thanks! here's to hoping you get off the waitlist and i see you there in august! good luck!

you'll have one or two interviews in the morning then lunch with students then the tour with students and finally a presentation from the admissions staff. Finally if you had only one interview in the morning you'll have your second in the afternoon but if not then you're done. You should most likely be out of there by 3pm...they are super efficient and they ask you to come in 15 minutes before your first interview (i think either 10:15am or 11:15am).

So that was you at the Rochester interview? I thought the person told me their SDN name was this but I may have been mistaken. But everything is just fine, thanks you? I interviewed 12/29 and heard back 12/10.

For everyone's reference and to clear the air, if you check the 2008-2009 Acceptance thread, soccerdoc interviewed on 10/29, not 12/29, and heard back 12/10 for SUNY Downstate.

You're half right. His first date is wrong, but the second date is correct.

As per your MDapps, there are not even any dates to go by.

For those who have interviewed, what is the schedule like on the interview day? ALSO, to what extent did interviewers use your secondary essays? Did they ask on what you wrote?

to answer your first question i wrote this earlier:

to answer the second part....neither of my interviewers mentioned any of the topics in my secondary essays

You may have 1-2 interviews and the times vary depending on your interviewer, but lunch is at noon, followed by a 30 min tour of the campus, a financial aid talk, and a brief Q&A with the assistant dean of admissions.

As far as secondary essays, my interviewers didn't ask about it.

Good luCk. :luck::luck:

When you arrive in the morning at the time they indicated in your invitation email, they'll give you a folder with when your interview's at. I had my first interview around 11 and had another one after the lunch/tour/Q&A. I didn't get out till 4ish.
As for the second part, apparently my essay on contemporary medical issue in health care struck a cord and both of my interviewer asked about it. The student interviewer asked me to elaborate and the professor I interviewed with asked me what could be a consequence of my suggestions in my essay. Overall, I suggest you know your essays very well
