Call

I sent my secondary in the beginning of July and was not marked complete until I called about a week ago; the lady on the phone did it on the spot

Congrats on the invites!

I submitted sometime in mid-July and check was cashed end July but no complete email yet. If they are going by ABC (last or first name) then I wont hear back from them for a long time anyway. What a silly way to review apps =p

The invite was by email. We are then supposed to respond by email, ranking our top 3 preferred interview dates out of four given.

Btw, I dont think they rank by name. What i have noticed from other schools makes me believe that they rank by MCAT and GPA, and then accept/reject high scoring students, then accept/reject low scoring students, and eventually focus on the middle. It seems to me the Rosalind Franklin does not follow the same trend though, because they started with the middle, but I highly doubt that they do it by alphabetical ranking.

I really don't think they go after high, low, then middle. They go after the best/ most interesting applicants at the time. As the top dwindles down, they look at the rest.

Complete 8/17, my name is Ryan Young. Not sure if they are doing it by first name or last, it must be first if it's alpha order

wow that's the first time I've seen someone on SDN post their name... unless you just posted a fake name with your initials

Did I miss something? is there some reason we think it's going in some other order besides complete date?

i was told by an admissions representative here that applications are reviewed in ABC order!

can those of you with invites please tell us the initial of your first AND last name? if you dont feel comfortable doing so, can you just tell us if you are towards the beginning of the alphabet? thanks so much!

Who knows if it's true... the first several invites posted here seemed to follow the trend, but the "rule" soon broke down. I would be surprised, and annoyed, if any school handed out invites in alphabetical order.

interesting secondary.. I wrote like 300 characters and I need a break already

How long did it take you to get the secondary, Teen? I submitted my primary there Aug 22nd and still have yet to hear anything...

does anyone know the number they interview and the number the accept, or at least percentages?

got small pooled today! im so excited my first small pool 😀 lolll

I got small pooled as well haha. For those of you who received interviews, did you ever get an email about passing the first screen? Just wondering where I'm sitting right now. Thanks👍

does this school screen? i have yet to recieve a secondary 😕

I never got "small pooled." Just got confirmed for an October 5 interview a couple days ago. I'm not sure of the stats as far as interviews and acceptances go; I left my MSAR at home. Anyone else know?

Nothing about a small pool

I got an interview on 9/4 and didn't receive a 'small pool' e-mail.

what is a small pool email? I got a "complete" email. Is that the same?

For those of you got an interview invite, have they responded back at all?

Yes, they responded back to me yesterday. Interview on Sept 29!

did you receive a small pool email? I was complete here a long time ago and I have received anything. Is there a status page that lets you guys know this?

I received an email yesterday stating that I've been placed in the group from which they pick to interview.

they do email you, there is no status page as far as i know! but dont worry people who got interviews here didnt get small pooled so i dont know what to get out of that 😕

No it's for sure a good thing. I think there are three categories. People who got an instant interview, then the small pool people, then the people who haven't heard anything. I'm assuming it's like the VCU's system of very interested, may, further or something. Basically you have a good shot at an interview later on...Congrats!!!

I am still not even complete. When did you send in your app?

I sent in my app about 3 days after the secondary was available (early July?). You should try calling the office...the very nice lady will mark you complete on the phone. That's how I got the complete status.

Hey Bizlove,
Enough with this nonsense. There is so much misinformation and disinformation about RFUMS and it is time to put an end to it. I am a pround M3 student at the chicago medical school. I had multiple acceptances but choose RFUMS because I was impressed with how well they preprate their students. It paid off as I did very well on the boards and so did the rest of my class. We do not know the average yet, but many of my friends got scores in the 250's and 260's. I am currently doing my clinical rotations and we are rotating with students from UIC, CCOM and other school. We are doing pretty darn good compared to other students. When you get to the wards you will notice that medicine is a team work. You will not find one student, one resident or one attending who knows it all, and everyone for the most part work together to teach each other. That is the beauty of this field. Now I am not sure who was the M4 you talked to, but I am pretty sure you will find bitter students at all medical schools. God knows I met few of them on rotations, so stop these stupid comments that higthen your ignorance about what we know and what we do not know.
Good luck to all of you who are appyling.

well said!

I just tried calling and they sent me to an automated system telling me to e-mail them. I hope this makes me complete. Been waiting awhile like all of you.

do I have to give them a passport photograph or a casual one? I do not like to send my photos (or even take them) so I am trying to avoid the optional ones even though they say "it is very helpful." So am I killing my chances by not being "very helpful" by NOT sending the optional photos?

ok so I cannot post more than 2500 characters in the box while it says the max is 3000!!

If I open the pdf file in the browser by clicking on the SUpplemental Application link, then I can copy/paste by 2999 character text but if I save the .pdf file and open in Adobe Acrobat and then paste it in, I fit in only 2500 characters and the rest disappears .... wth.

What are you talking about? I don't think there was a character limit for the Rosalind Franklin application. There was just a box and you can fill many lines in it.

if you take your cursor onto the box, a pop up comes up showing the minimum and maximum limit of characters. My concern is this: I cannot post 3000 characters in that box.

the character limit was what you can fit into the box. make it fit into the box.

Does anyone know how many interview vs. how many get accepted?

Even though the boxes on the pdf look small they can fit about 2400-3000 characters in them because when you type/paste your response in them the font is much smaller than what you would expect.

My essays were closer to the upper limit. Hope this helps!

That is impossible. I filled the box in and copy pasted to word and counted the characters. They barely reach 2200. Smallness of the font is irrelevant to the characters being used, DUH.

That's not even close to true. Depending on WHICH characters you used to fill that box (e.g. m takes up a lot more space than i) it could be much closer to either end of the character limit. The character "limits" were a range that they suggested and by no means absolute, so everyone who has told you that whatever fits is the limit is correct. And, regardless, you can't readily modify the box so unless you want to jump through several program hoops you will just have to change your essay.

I have never seen character limits based on the character used. Inherent in the idea of character limits is the idea that one character regardless of the character used is still deemed one character (outside of a Kanji character in Japanese text, I'm not sure if that count as only one character).

It is advisable to copy your statement from word to notepad, then copy it from notepad to the essay box. This helps to eliminate code that could possibly add unseen characters. 😉

True, but they give you however big the box is, and suggest a range of characters that will fit in that area. If you type however many lines of "iiii" it'll fit a lot more characters in than "mmm". It's not based on the # of characters (otherwise they'd just give the upper limit of 3000 characters, not 2400-3000).

I think the best way to make sure it fits is to type it directly into the box. But I wouldn't like that either.

They have a space limit, not a character limit, so if you use a font which does not have every character occupying the same amount of space, then depending on which characters you use a lot, you'll get different character limits.

Anyone gotten an invite from them lately? Or has there just been one batch.

Ahhh, gotcha. I haven't seen the box, because I never got the secondary... It was probably an email issue, but I decided not to apply there to cut back on application dollars. Good luck to you guys though. 😉

Still not complete... they cashed my check on 8/4 or 8/6 don't remember. Anyway that was more than a month ago!!! Seriously they take my money and don't even consider my app?
