ugh post-interview hold does not sound like fun... brings back memories of last year's waitlist...

keep up the hope! :xf:

i was wondering how many students were accepted after being on hold for more than three months. so far, i came across two applicants from this thread: phosphorosylide and coookiecrisp1...

are there any other applicants who may have gotten an acceptance after more than three months???

really hoping i could go to med school.......🙁

i wish i knew how exactly an applicant can get accepted.. i dont know if sending a letter of interest or any updates really helps.. i tried it and seem to always get the same email about being on hold... and im keeping up the hope, hopefully the committee accepts us......:xf:

I interviewed 3 weeks ago, so I'm not in that category... but I don't think I'd worry too much about the time frame. Just because you have been on hold for 3 months, doesn't mean that you're number isn't coming up soon.

Most of the remaining RFU spots will open up this week until the 15th, so it makes sense that you'd wait this long anyway. Plus the adcom is probably going to review the late interviewed applicants (like me) before they make a final call on your file...

so in conclusion, don't worry about yet, just keep up your hope and see what happens in the next few months. Whatever's gona happen is gona happen, so don't beat yourself up over it 🙂

yeah, honestly all that post interview letters of interest and all that is kind of a load. There's no evidence that it matters either way. If it does matter, you have to figure that GPA & MCAT, LOR, Experiences, and Interview greatly out weigh it.

No one gets into med school because they wrote a letter, no one gets rejected because they didn't.. it's just one of those things that makes you feel better

since you interviewed pretty recently, i dont think that you will get a hold. rather they will probably give you an acceptance, a rejection, or put you in the waitlist. lets hope to hear some good news in the upcoming weeks.🙂

Hey guys, I just withdrew from RF, I hope one of you SDNers get my spot, it was a good place. Good luck for all of you that are still waiting to hear. :xf:

@sweetness34 I hope you hear some good news soon!

i guess most likely we will hear something near the end of the month probably??

also, does anyone know how many BMS students have been accepted to CMS??

someone mentioned that about 30-40 students get accepted to the school..

i wonder if the spots that are open go to the BMS students.....

thanks starlight, i wish you well in med school!

thanks sweetness34! I thought the school was ok...the match list is similar to most schools, but the cost would have been alot though.. The avg cost would have been about $70,000 for me.

good luck buddy, and hope you hear something good!! :xf:

good luck ziggydoc and starlight to whereever you go!

Anyone know the total stats for this school (Number of total applicants vs total seats). I had heard it was around 6000 applicants yearly for 300 seats or something.

We interviewed 677 applicants this year. Last year there were about 10,000 applicants (per Dean Ross)

Oh yeah, interviews are over...So now we wait for this month's acceptances and then the waitlist.

Hey all!

Looks like I'll be staying in Canada for my medical education. I withdrew my acceptance this morning and wish you all the best of luck! Hoping one of you gets my spot!

Oh wow, that must have been some decision to make. Have fun in medical school!

hey mattng I'm not sure, but I think you were the tour guide on my interview day... unless there are multiple matts from maryland at RFU 😀

So what happens if an applicant does not choose 1 med school by the May 15th deadline? Does he/she lose out completely? What's the penalty?

The schools may drop their acceptances, although I think in practice they'd warn them first.

For a Canadian resident, choosing a Canadian school over an American one is pretty much a no-brainer. Tuition in Canada is a fraction of what it is here, especially at a non-state school like CMS.

That means that they have access to info about schools that their applicants have been accepted to? Do they know the particular schools or just the number of schools?

I heard that once you're accepted at a school that info is available to any school you applied to via AMCAS. So if I'm not mistaken they know where you applied, and where you've been accepted.

I didn't mean it as extreme as it sounds, and neither did Dean Ross I think, I apologize for the confusion. From what I heard from some friends at RFU is that a large portion of the students are from IL, then a large chunk from CA, and then the rest is made of students all over, and this is just because of the number of people applying, not because of admission's preferences. But from what I said before, Dean Ross mentioned that between an Illinois applicant and CA applicant who have similar stats, they would take the IL applicant. Both my interviewers also asked if I intended to stay in IL after medical school or residency, they just would like to keep their graduating MDs in the Midwest.
ah I got ya. I think I was just confused? No worries.

I was sent an e-mail where NYMC asked me if I would like to be placed on the wait list. They asked me to reply back with my response and to include my phone number. I replied back to the email stating that i would like to be placed on the wait list. however, they never sent me a confirmation that I have been
placed on the wait list. Has anyone else replied to this email with no response?

Hi,

I withdrew this afternoon. Got into Wake Forest a couple days ago 😍
Good luck all!

Maybe check the NYMC threat, or call them 🙂 I got rejected there a couple weeks ago.

@ hereigoagain - congrats 👍 😀

Congrats to all the acceptances and enjoy med school... to all of us waiting, hope we hear good news this month!!

I'm surprised that we didn't get an update before 5/15. Oh well, I bet we're be receiving news of all kinds from them next week. Keep those fingers crossed kids.

Yep, last year they received notifications on the 20th and the 28th. I'm hoping for news by Friday next week, but if not, the 28th is not that far.

hey

I am withdrawing my acceptance.

Hope you guys hear good news soon! 👍

:luck:

Withdrawing tomorrow.

I'm probably the one. Not that many from Maryland...

It will be at the end of the month I'm pretty sure about that. The want to assess how many spots they have open now so they can fill them accordingly. But good luck!

@ mattng - cool, yeah it was a good tour, definitely got me excited to attend (hopefully)
