awww sooo good to hear that...i have an interview next friday =) any details on how the day goes?
I can only speak from my own interview experience, but here it is.
If you're driving and unfamiliar with Stony Brook's Hospital, leave good and early. Traffic can be bad, parking is tricky, and its a bit of a windy trek through the hospital to the Admissions Office. There is a Starbucks in the main lobby; I definitely utilized that resource
🙂
I hung out with a few other applicants in a little board room until my first interviewer was ready. Both interviews went the full hour and were back to back (phew!). They were very conversational and generally pretty easy going. I'm sure this experience varies depending on who your interviewer is, but it doesn't seem like they have any questions they are required to ask so its pretty informal. They really just want to get to know you and figure out whether or not you are a good fit for Stony Brook. I was asked some questions about my courses, the infamous, "Why do you want to be a doctor?", to describe my research, other schools I had interviews at, where I saw myself in ten years, but mostly just had interesting conversations.
At noon, we had lunch with several M2's and were able to ask questions for about a half hour. Afterwards, we had a fairly quick tour of the facilities and saw the anatomy lab, lecture hall, student lounge, library, and most importantly, a ping pong table. Had a quick financial aid talk and a talk from Dean Agnetti. All I really remember from that was her estimate that they had 4700 applicants for c/o 2015. Overall, it was a very good day and a good length (not to long, not to short).
Anyway, that's all I got. Have a good time, and don't stress! Best of luck!
