Haha thank you 🙂 how is your cycle going?

At least the two of us don't have to eat a poop hot dog...

I'd gladly eat a poop hot dog if it gets me into SLU.

Next year I'm going to try and be a student adcom and I'm going to ask all of my interviewees if they are familiar with the poop hot dog story 🙂

Dude, I was so going to try to get on the interview committee and ask that question, too! Can you imagine the looks we'd get!? And especially if they were indeed familiar with that thread: They'd probably laugh their butts off at the mere question! Hahaha

Haha yea. It's the perfect ice breaker for an SDNer. Maybe not for a non-SDNer

Stupid question: How do you know where you're interviewing (e.g. St. Mary's, ABI...)?
I got an II yesterday and signed up for the first one available on 2/5 without checking where it is. Guess I was too excited  My itinerary doesn't say anything specific so should I assume it's at the school?

Nah. I've given up on Loyola. I doubt they'll have any wait list movement 🙁

How easy is it to find research opportunities during the first two years. I know that students can do clinical research during there elective slot during this time. Are most students that want to do this able to do so? Any insight into ophtho specific experiences? Thanks!

just to let you guys know, i called yesterday and they told me the committee would be meeting today. they said to expect to hear back sometime at the end of this week..

yes. no idea about optho. several of my friends did match optho just a few days ago, though, in some desirable spots.

Did they mention making decisions from a specific batch of interview dates?

Any late Nov. interviewers panicking with me?

:scared::scared::scared:

Ok turns out there is someone (only 1 that I know of) at SLUSOM currently who interviewed in March! They were not accepted off the wait list.

Wait, I don't get it. How can he/she be a medical student at SLU, but was not accepted off the waitlist ... 😕

I think the poster means that the student was accepted without ever being put on the waitlist. The student was accepted after his interview in the regular fashion.

No acceptances today, I see. I was a Dec. 11 interviewee, told to wait "4 to 6 weeks". I hope that holds true, the wait is killing me.

Note that "4 to 6 weeks" for a December interview really means "7 to 9 weeks" for schools because of the three week holiday break. Although they could play 'catch up' to get back sooner, I would expect early January would be a fairer estimate. Sorry 🙁

I'm 11/26 and I still haven't heard back. I think decisions will be coming out tomorrow though.

I thought someone said earlier yesterday that the committee met wednesday.... So no one has heard back today? And are you just guessing about hearing tomorrow, or did you ask? Thanks! interviewed 12/4

I interviewed on 12/4 too, and haven't heard anything back yet.

For everyone anxious to hear back, read JDOC13's posts.

The committee meets every Wednesday during interview season, and applicants reviewed that day usually get their decisions the next day.

The amount of time you wait post-interview hinges entirely on when your interviewer provides the committee with their feedback. The amount of time post-interview isn't a reflection of your interview performance.

Hey man, I just joined SDN...I interviewed 12/11 also. Glad to see I'm not the only one who is antsy.

From what I've seen on this thread, it looks like they come out on Fridays on some weeks. But no, I didn't ask, it's just me neurotically trying to predict the future. 😛

I think someone mentioned earlier that preclinical grades are no longer considered for AOA. Can anyone confirm this. If so, what factors are used? Thanks 🙂

they didn't mention specific interview dates, but i provided my name and the person in the office told me that i was on the agenda for wednesday's meeting. if it helps, i interviewed late november. however, i feel that it really is dependent on how busy your interviewer is/when they get back to the committee..

i hope we all get good news tomorrow 🙂

I interviewed at the very end of Oct and was accepted Jan 2 - which I'm guessing is when they came back from Christmas break. So, it took over 8 weeks.

Thanks. I had noticed tha the dates were slanting later than 4 to 6 weeks in general, and that explains why.

Yep. this has been said repeatedly, which is why although many November interviewees are still waiting to hear, I know there's a chance I could get news on any given Thursday.

Well, good luck everyone. I had an interview at a back-up school set for early Feb. that I was planning to cancel if I got the good word from SLU, but I may have to go ahead and do that one after all. Oh well, there are worse problems. 🙂

interviewed in December...just received an email that I was placed on the alternate list

Alternate list. Interviewed in early December as well.

Alternate list here, too. Interviewed 12/4.
I be sad 🙁

Alternate list here and interviewed on 12/4 too...

Does SLU send out rejections? Or they put everyone that's not accepted right away on alternate list?

Everyone not accepted right away gets put on the alternate list. No rejections post interview yet from my understanding.

Actually had a dream last night that I got accepted, but haven't heard anything yet 😛. Hope to hear good news soon though!! Mid-December interview.

Had a similar dream the night before BU decisions were supposed to come out. Actually it was the morning of that day as I drifted in and out of sleep. First it was a rejection. Then I woke up and was sad. Then I fell back asleep and had a dream I was wait listed. Woke up and was less sad. Then I got wait listed ("deferred" in BUSM terms) 2 days later 😉

Man, well I hope my dream was similarly predictive... 😳... glad your first dream was wrong!
