Anyone have an idea of when the first acceptance release date will be? I remember them saying mid/late November?

Last year the first acceptance post was on 11/19 through a status page change. From what I've gathered, the first round should be around that time or possibly a bit later this year.

Any reason why it might be a bit later?

If there's an MSTP applicant that has already interviewed, they can tell you the exact day you should hear. When they interview, they are told that they'll get a decision on a specific Friday. MD decisions go out the day after that (12 AM on Saturday).

Oh I see.

ANY MSTP applicant out there?

For those who have arranged interviews already, did you get a confirmation after you select your date on "visit arrangement" page? I chose a day a while ago and I never got a confirmation. Thanks.

I received an e-mail confirmation the morning after I selected an interview day. Check your spam folder? Or maybe contact them if you can't find it.

Can any WashU people give me an estimate of my interview chances? I have a 4.0/37, but the 37 was on an MCAT re-take, good research experience, good shadowing experience, summer camp counselor, zero healthcare volunteer hours, and not a ton of school involvement. I submitted 9/4, but the new mcat didnt get in until 9/25... Still haven't heard back and I'm getting antsy!

Got my schedule for my interview Monday: interviewing with a dentist and the financial aid director. Lolz @ no MDs.

I'm sure they have multiple students who interview with a dentist and the fin. aid director on Monday, and I'm sure they don't ever look at this thread to see your reaction. 😕

Shh, this is WashU, they'd never interview someone who wasn't bright enough to not provide personal information on the interwebs 😉

Oh, I don't have any sort of problem with it. I just found it interesting.

Hey! Does anyone who goes/went there recently want to share some info on the drinking culture at the school? My undergrad was in a bit of a bubble where alcohol wasn't a really big deal, but then I met a girl on an interview who put getting wasted every single weekend as a high priority. I don't think I'd be socially comfortable at a school with an overwhelming drinking culture and was wondering if it's something I'd have to worry about at WashU?

You will not be pressured to drink. People won't look down upon you for choosing not to drink. This isn't a frat or even a reputedly fratty med school like Columbia. These are people who on average have a 37 MCAT. However, most (but not all) social events organized by the class social chairs will involve alcohol. Socializing in these contexts requires you to stand people who are drinking. That said, a sizable minority of each class doesn't socialize in these contexts. They can be fine socially.

Thanks! I figured it would be unlikely but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Drinking doesn't bother me, and I partake myself sometimes, I just don't enjoy alcohol-obsessed weekenders.

So according to my research, on Saturday 12 AM CST, MD decisions will go out.
Its unknown if it will be this Saturday or the next. Supposedly, however, the MSTP candidates already know.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for an acceptance, I can tell you I don't have any. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long premedical career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let me know right now which date the acceptances go out, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

Note to Adcoms who may be secretly reading this: That was a joke. I am totally normal IRL. I love people. And science. Helping people with science, that's me.

Congrats!!! When did you interview?

Early October.
They said they're sending out acceptances in the mail...is that something new? Just being really neurotic since I don't have anything like an email to confirm lol.

Commence epic freak out that I did not receive that phone call today. :scared:

Did your status online change?

II 11/16/12. Complete 9/26/12. I can't decide on which smilie face icon to use to express my excitement! Good luck to everyone who is waiting to hear back from this school!

Phone call or status page or both?

I shall spell this out in detail to hopefully calm you people down. 😛

This is how it has worked for the past 4 years, at least:

MD: The admissions office decides on a certain Saturday every month-ish to send out acceptances. If your interviewer feels particularly nice or has some downtime, they may call an accepted student on the Thursday or Friday prior to the decided upon Saturday. All accepted students (for that round) will have a status change at 12:00 AM on Friday night/Saturday morning (even those who already got a phone call).

If you don't hear anything all that means is that you haven't been accepted yet. For MD, WashU does not reject or waitlist until the spring. They reconsider all interviewed students for each acceptance round so you can interview in October and get accepted in January.

MSTP: While at the interview, the MSTP people tell you a Friday on which you will hear a decision (accepted, waitlisted, rejected). You will hear then... easy enough. This is not coincidentally the day before the acceptances go out for the MD students.

I highly doubt this has changed much. IIRC, they have always mailed something to accepted students, the status change just comes first.

For reference the status change was to something like "Congratulations. Pay us $XX to hold your spot in the class." on the main page of the WUMSApply thing.

Keep in mind that this could have changed from last year, but our admissions process is pretty set, so I doubt big changes have happened. If so, hopefully someone from the adcom will read my false info and email me how it's actually working so I don't stress you people out more than you already do yourselves. 🙂

:luck:

Thanks for your kindness. XD I guess I'll be eagerly awaiting 12am tonight. Good luck to everyone who interviewed! :luck: Let's hope for some good news.

Accepted via status update! Good luck to everyone!

Interviewed mid-October 🙂

No news for me :scared:. I also interviewed mid-October. This finger crossing thing has really not been working for me lately.

Does anyone know how long we have to give them the deposit?

It'll probably say in the acceptance packet. I wouldn't worry about it though, they're not going to take your spot away. I just went ahead and paid mine though.

Does anyone know if Wash U accepts AP credit for their pre-med requirements?

Is WashU still handing out interview invites?? I submitted 9/4, but didn't have my new MCAT in until 9/25. should I be concerned???

i looked around but couldnt really find the answer :/ but i was wondering if anyone had an idea of the average time between completion and interview for mstp? if you're waitlisted for an interview, do they tell you?

So after being complete since July I randomly decided to check my status today and noticed that it said interview offer 12/4/12. No email update yet, but I can access the calendar and schedule an interview. Has this happened to anyone else?

I also noticed my interview offer on the status page before receiving any sort of official update. In fact, I don't think I ever did receive any official update, perhaps because I immediately scheduled my interview.
