2013-2014 Saint Louis University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is the first school to give me the name of the interviewer. Seems like a recipe for anxious pre-meds to cyberstalk. Is there anything to read in the decision between admissions people and faculty?

I have an upcoming interviewe in December and am trying to make my travel arrangements. My itinerary has the lunch, tour, and interview on it. Are there any other activities, presentations, etc that happen on interview day? Thanks!

Before the tour, they give a brief overview over the curriculum and what the school is all about. After the tour, they give a brief talk about financial aid/scholarships/paying for school. This all fits in with the time schedule on your itinerary. Good luck with your interview!

I also just received the acceptance email!!! Interviewed back on 9/23, so if you interviewed a while ago, don't lose hope!! This was a really pleasant surprise because I thought it was one of my worse interviews, but thankfully the interviewer thought differently!!

Congratulations. I also PM you. Could you spare some time to get back to me. thanks

Can someone explain how the deposit works? Do I fill out the form and mail it in with $100? This would mean I can hold my acceptance and if I do pick a different school, I can just ask them for my money back? The phrasing of the sentence in their letter kinda makes it seem like I'm already accepting to go to SLU so I was unsure.

Yes, that's exactly how it works. It's non-binding until May.

I received my acceptance email last Wednesday morning (11/27). I interviewed, was wait listed, and ultimately did not get in during the 2012-2013 cycle. I reapplied this year and was accepted!

Congrats! If you don't mind sharing, when is your interview scheduled? Just want to have an idea of their timeline.

I have scheduled it yet online. But the earliest available date seems to be January 6th. Then interviews continue on every monday and tuesday. Right now i dont see dates in february.

Early January dates still available doesn't sound too bad! Maybe they are just trickling out slowly this year. Would love to get an invite!!

II. Was complete early July so people who haven't heard back and were complete early-there's still hope!

got an interview invite today also. completed late july. im just a regular average applicant. im pretty psyched to get invited to interview

II today, via email. Complete since late July as well. 3.7/33 OOS. Really psyched to have an interview here!

Received an II yesterday, as well. Same exact stats, OOS, complete early November (I'm a late bloomer). Also excited to interview!

Does anyone know when they stop interviewing here?

Someone in the admission office told me they interview until March. So you can reasonably expect interview invitations to go out up to February. Hope this helps

oop, looks like I might've been passed over. Time to send in an update here.

i literally left my interview so defeated. i gave up on SLU until I got my acceptance! congrats!!!

Unfortunately I missed my interview due to terrible weather and cancelled flights. They've kindly invited me to reschedule, but the day I was supposed to interview I got an acceptance from my glorious state school so I'll be withdrawing. It's too bad, everyone has such lovely things to say about SLU!

Congrats to all those recently accepted!! I have an interview this week and any advice would be really appreciated! Are the questions mostly general and based on our primary? Are there ethical questions or anything else to prepare for? Thank you sooooo much! 🙂

my interviewer asked me about my personal statement and my application a lot. Other than that, they just seemed interested in getting to know me-my hobbies and stuff outside medical school. It was incredibly low stress. Just make sure you research the school thoroughly so you can answer the "why SLU?" question. Good luck!

I had the same experience. Don't think I was asked any ethical questions. Just be yourself and talk about why SLU/St. Louis would be a nice place to spend four years! And, as always, have meaningful questions for the interviewer.
