2014-2015 Saint Louis University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats on your acceptances. It appears you posted 12 times in a 15 minute period yesterday of your various interviews and acceptances. What date did you receive your acceptance notification from SLU? Trying to determine if they sent out their weekly batch of acceptances yet this week.

Sorry, imnola89. I don't know what happened. This was directed at countrydoc12, who went on a posting spree yesterday. Thanks for the response, though!
Hi Clever user name. I got the acceptance email nov. 6th.

Just got the alternate list. Anyone know the chances of getting accepted after this?

I know my host and a couple of the people I ate dinner with the night before the interview were on the alternate list before they got in (they're current medical students there now! )

II today, complete 9/6. 3.9, 34. OOS.

For those of you that interviewed, when did your day end and how far is it to the airport?

The day ends after you're done with the school presentation/tour (~10:40 am - 1 pm) and your interview which could be in the morning or in the afternoon as late as 3 pm.

Congrats! Not sure why, but I was pulling for you specifically...maybe its the combination of your picture and username, haha.
Hahaha thank you!!! I like to think that I'm witty....but then I always realize I use too many lame puns 🙂

Hey, so I know someone asked this a week or two ago, but nobody really responded. I'm like 95% sure I'll end up at SLU unless I get into a state school where it'd be cheaper. Anyone else who was accepted pretty sure they're going here next year?

Complete on 08/31st. Interview Invite on 11/18. Stats: 3.7 cumulative, 3.85 science, 33 MCAT.

How important is clinical experience? I don't have much... I've got >100 hours of volunteering at the hospital, I volunteer as a patient sitter/liason at a behavioral clinic, and I currently work as a patient transporter...

There is a strong possibility that I will end up here. I still have more interviews and need to see what the financials will look like before I can even begin to make a decision.

Which interview dates were open for you to pick?

Complete 7/23 and haven't heard back yet at all; is this alright? Still a chance of getting that II?
Possibly. I was complete 7/16 and got II 3 days ago after not hearing back. I did send 1 short update a week before the II came, tho.

I submitted my secondary on September 4th and I've heard nothing but silence from SLU. I am wanting to send some type of update to the school, but I don't really have grades or new activities to inform them of (I'm in a gap year working the same job that I mentioned in my AMCAS). I sent a pre-interview letter of interest a couple weeks ago, so I'm guessing I shouldn't send another one...How else can I emphasize my interest in SLU? I want an interview here so BADLYYYYYYY! :arghh:

I really liked SLU so I definitely would consider it strongly! If I end up with another acceptance I will try and figure out which is the best fit!

I know right. How are we feeling? Anyone got good vibes? Bad vibes? Oh man, I've totally lost it.

I'm about 98% sure I'll be at SLU, and I've cancelled my other interviews so it's almost a sure thing now.

Is anyone else waiting 6 or more weeks after their interview and still not heard back? Should I call? They said 4 weeks at the interview...

I waited 6 weeks on the dot from my interview date. The acceptance email came around 1:30pm. Hang in there!!! 🙂

Congrats everyone!! I'm hoping for the best in 6 weeks!! They said it would be about that long until my group hears back. Hopefully I'll start the new year off with good news

I stayed with a M1 so I was able to meet a bunch of the students who were all super nice and chill. They kept talking about how they felt that SLU did a good job of preparing them for USMLE and clinical skills while also not being too stressed out all the time. The campus is beautiful...also I was born in STL so that's a factor. Overall, I got the impression that I would be able to get a good education and not hate my life for the next four years. I also attended lecture and the first anatomy lab and the professors seemed cool too.

Did anybody have Nora Porter as their interviewer? If so, I would love to know what she is like in person. Thank you!

Apologies for the double post, but for those who got accepted, what kind of clinical experience do you all have?

Kind of similar to yours. ~200 hours in the hospital, ~100 hours shadowing. I had a lot of other types of ECs though

Does anyone know if posting an update on the portal would cause a re-evaluation of one's application? I did see @Ace Khalifa say that he got an II soon after posting an update...
