I have a few questions about this school

How many weeks from invitation do you find out who u are interviewing with?

the COA is like 70k but on MSAR the average debt is like 170k, does this school provide plenty of financial aid in terms of scholarships?

Also what is percentage of candidates who get accepted after interview?

Did anyone interview with Dr. Chamberland? I have an upcoming interview with her in early October. Any information or help on how to prepare would be appreciated. 🙂
It really doesn't matter who is interviewing you in SLU, just make sure you know every single detail on your AMCAS application

Hi everyone! I have a huge favor to ask of you all. I recently received an interview invitation and would love to interview on October 19th (currently scheduled for October 20th) because I live a plane flight away and am already going to be in St. Louis the weekend of October 15-17. The main reason that Monday would be significant better than Tuesday is that I already have another plane flight booked out of my hometown early Wednesday morning for an interview in a different portion of the country. If anyone would be willing to trade dates, please please let me know!! 🙂 I'm willing to potentially incentivize the deal if anyone is interested because it would be more convenient for me.

So I had to check with work , funds, family, and professors before scheduling an interview date to ensure I was free for the dates dates they had provided. The one problem being there are now no longer dates available. I'm assuming that they will add a few more dates in the near future and, if so, when you think they add dates? I appreciate any help. So happy to have an II!

I called the admissions office about trying to change my interview date and, even though they could not switch it, the lady was helpful and friendly! If you call the office, they can likely tell you if/when they plan to release additional dates.

I just interviewed here. I have to say I loved the laid back attitude of the students and the down to earth Dean and admissions committee. Definitely going to be difficult to choose a school. :heckyeah::joyful:

EDIT: assuming I get accepted :xf:

Just don't bash any specialty that doesn't really deal with patients as much (radiology and pathology), or say anything about preferring MD professors over PhD professors or something - not that you would!. She is the director of the microbiology lab in the clinical pathology division, and has a PhD not an MD.

Personally I'd take a look at her research interests, antimicrobial resistance bacteria, and spend some time just reviewing general information. Maybe the issues with pharmaceutical companies putting new antibiotics on the back burner compared to better "paying" medications like cholesterol meds. Just so if she asks you some questions in that area you will be somewhat informed. Some researchers like to talk about their research too - if you had prepared before hand you could maybe fire back some informed questions and come off really well.

Hey guys, Im M4 student and moving out. I have a single at the flats at 374 in s grand. really close to the som. no roommate. furnished. new. nice view. let me know if youre interested to take it for the whole year!

Any tips for Dr. Westermann? I'm interviewing with him in October. Thanks!

is 700 words too much for the secondary comments? It's a why slu/diversity essay

I kept my additional comments to 2,000 characters. Some of the other folks on here float at around that level, others don't submit any info at all. From around SDN, I get the sense that brevity is exceptional when paired with clear thoughts.

Yup! A few days after I set up my interview date, they let me know who's interviewing me that day. Seems like they match interviewers and applicants based on common ground and similarities. Dr. Westermann has a WashU MBA and I'm a business major.

Anyone interview here recently and want to share their experiences? Just curious because I'm very interested in the school!

I interviewed recently. I stayed with a student host and got to meet several of the M1s the night before my interview. All the students emphasized how much they LOVE the true pass/fail curriculum and other efforts the faculty have put in to improve the mental health of SLU medical students. They get every other Wednesday completely off for electives, and pass/fail just gives you more time to do stuff you want to do besides study--whether it be extracurriculars or exercise and hobbies (not that you can't do those things at other schools--it just seems really doable at SLU).

Some students had their interviews in the morning before the lunch/tour, and others had theirs afterwards. The interview itself was very relaxed and pretty conversational. I'm not sure if all interviews are like this, but my interviewer essentially just had my AMCAS application and went through each of my experiences and asked me to elaborate. They're just trying to get to know you better 🙂

Thanks for sharing! I am really praying for an interview! I love this school. It is my top choice!!

Good luck to you!

Overall would you say you enjoyed it?

I agree with all of this! My host emphasized the mental health of the students. Everyone I spoke with seemed genuinely happy and stress-free. One tip for the interview day -- bring comfortable shoes! This was one of the longest tours I've been on, we really roamed all over the campus and into the hospital. My feet were not happy at the end of the day. There will be plenty of time to change into flats or something if you want to wear heels at the interview, and they provide a secure room to store stuff you don't want to carry on the tour.

I didn't put anything in the "comments" section thinking it was for explaining any gaps in education and all of that like.. will it affect my chances for a II significantly? I submitted it way back in July but my app was only complete late August after my score came back. STL is my hometown and I'd love to go back there (being a Cardinals fan in Chicago isn't exactly the best hahahahaha)

Well, I interviewed here today! Absolutely loved it. I hope they love me back 🙂

if you can convince the St Louis University SOM Adcoms to accept me, I'll take whatever you want off of your hands 😛

Any current applicants/current SLU students know how long it usually takes them to get back to you after an interview? I interviewed this Tuesday.

Also, is it acceptable to send a thank you note/letter to your interviewer via email?

Thank you for the help!

For those who interview in Sep, I think they will let you know within 4 weeks (I looked at last year's forum). Those who interview later in the cycle it takes 6-8 weeks. I have no idea about the thank you letter though

Before the holidays, they try to turn around decisions within 4 weeks. The exact time frame will be predicated on when your interviewer presents you to the ADCOM.

It is acceptable to send a thank you note, though it will not affect the outcome of the decision.

Hi all. I just received an email from this school about being a prospective applicant. Does anyone know who receives these emails? I'm assuming they received my email address from taking the MCAT, but I just wanted to know if this is fairly common/automated based on MCAT scores. Thanks!

Still, it is a great school and if you want to apply, then do.

It is acceptable to write an email, and I believe someone told me that whatever is written will just be put in your folder when they present you to the adcom. The turnaround for about 4 weeks is correct for before the holidays, I was told they meet on fridays, and decisions are sent out mondays.

Does anyone know about Margaret Cooper as an interviewer? Any advice about interviewing with her will be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys. I was complete about 2 weeks ago. I was wondering when I should expect for my app to be reviewed. And do they send II through email or give phone call?

Email, in my personal experience.

I was complete mid-August and received an II about 2 weeks after, but some people who were complete earlier and with higher stats had a longer wait, so I don't endorse any particular timeline expectations. They do seem to be on the ball with reviewing apps though, better than a lot of other schools this cycle.

Hello everyone,
I'm an international student from Canada and I'm interested in applying to st.louis in the future after I finish my Masters. I heard about it because my friend got in 2 years ago and she tells me she's having a great time there! I was just wondering if an MCAT score of 513 but a verbal of 124 would be worth trying to apply for this school? I read through a couple of forums from last year and this year - most of the time people post overall scores so I wasn't too sure if St. Louis had a verbal cutoff or not.

Thank you and good luck to everyone here!

Does anyone know exactly where we need to meet for our interview? I received the address for my specific interviewer, but the email did not mention the location of check-in

Hey guys! I got an Interview conformation email a while back when I first booked my interview and today I received another one with a different Interviewer (who I relate considerably less to). Did anybody else also get 2 confirmations? The latest email was identical to the previous one minus the name change, so it didn't specifically state that the previous confirmation was canceled. I guess my question is if there is a consensus on if I should call and see if I can get the previous interviewer or not!

You can't switch your interviewer. The change means your first interviewer has a conflict and is unable to conduct the interview.

I got this too and when I emailed them, they said to go with the most recent email/interviewer!

I interviewed here a couple weeks ago and had a similar struggle. If you go to the secondary portal, they provide you with some links with maps and such. Where you will want to go is in the learning resource center. There is a main entrance that is a connecting hallway with big glass windows between the center and the main medical school. I entered on the north side directly facing their shiny new research building. There was a fountain here as well. You will give your name to the security guard at the desk inside the doors, and they will point you to the admissions office about 10 feet away down this hallway.

You will check in with someone in the office, and they will direct you. They have a lovely info session/tour/lunch that starts around 10:30 and runs until 1 that I would highly recommend. If you are driving you can park in Hickory East Garage on campus; be sure to ask the person checking you in for a validation ticket.

Hope you have a wonderful interview day, I really enjoyed the school!

Hello everyone,
I know the class at SLU is ~180 students, but does anyone know how many people are actually accepted or what percent of interviewed candidates are accepted?

Thank you!
