2015-2016 Saint Louis University Application Thread

Any acceptances from interviews around 10/20 or after?

One faculty interviewer (they should email you who you will be interviewing with), open file, and without access to your stats. It was very conversational, and they genuinely want to know who you are as a person. Make sure you know your primary and secondary well, since they'll ask you questions on your activities and interests. You may also interview either in the morning before the tour and lunch, or afterwards.
My interviewer quoted my stats, albeit incorrectly, during the interview... Just putting that possibility of there.

Any 10/12 interviewees still waiting for a decision.

Do they release only acceptances now or are they already releasing post interview rejections as well?

What I've been seeing on the board is that everytime they send out acceptances, they are also sending out alternate lists, which people are saying they put everyone on that's not accepted post-interview. Also, it doesn't exactly matter your interview date, it depends on who interviewed you and when they present!

With that being said, I had my interview 10/19 and haven't heard anything yet, and am getting impatient! :arghh::arghh::arghh:

II came November 19th. Going to be interviewing December 21st. Canadian student. Anyone who already interviewed and/or any first year current students willing to talk to me a bit about the interview/what the school is like?

Does anyone know if the LOI would work here. I would go here over my higher ranked state school.

I submitted one, the admissions person was receptive to it certainly

For those who have been accepted, are we permitted to make a deposit and hold our spot even if we are not 100% sure we are going there at the moment? (As in, still waiting to hear from other schools so not 100% sure at the moment). I was a bit confused by the wording in the email.

Deposit is non-binding. You can withdraw by April and receive full refund.

thank you
dj tanner you are a wonderful example to many young women in america. sorry about your mom. good thing you've got two great uncles. congrats on your med school acceptance. how is kimmy gibbler?

Email I believe
Both for me. I received the email first, my portal changed and allowed for me to confirm my acceptance, and I finally received a packet in the mail a few days following with the same acceptance notification and directions for submitting your deposit.
They'll email you first though. Good luck!

What's the average wait time after interviewing to hear something back?

I haven't heard back, and I interviewed 10/19..

Turnover does vary in the holiday season. Admission committee meetings don't occur over holidays. Like most schools, you should anticipate at least a month. The time from interview to response is not related to the decision regarding your application. An equal number of students from each interview batch will ultimately end up attending SLU. Later in the season (late winter to spring), more students are waitlisted; however, there is turn over on the waitlist. I think half of each class or something like that comes from the waitlist (as you would expect given my previous statement regarding equal numbers from each group of interviews attending with more waitlists towards the end of the season). SLU is well worth the wait. Best of luck!

haven't heard back, II week of 10/26.

I really really loved this school. I think I will get accepted to my state school tho, I hope SLU throw money at me. I have a feeling we will hear something Friday

Did anyone interview with Wilmore? Have my interest on the 15th and would love to get some feedback about him.

I did. If you search this thread and threads from previous years you will see a wide range of experiences. I thought my interview went well, but was intense. My friend also had that experience. It was his first choice school, but we are not good enough for the esteemed doctor (LizzyM 74 and 75). A few people had very tough interviews with him.
Hopefully you will have what it takes.

Hmm i wonder when i'm supposed to get my follow up email with my interviewer. I signed up for the 8th.

I've been complete since 7/16 and still haven't heard back from them. Has anyone tried emailing them about status updates before and gotten a response?

same here, and I have not but I feel like all the interviews have been given out for the rest of the year (until January at least) so I dont see the point

A good way to show a school or schools that you are still interested is by sending updates, but only if you have something to update them about.

yeah I also had a very tough interview and between that and the lack of a structured interview day, it made me not like the school so much.

+1...have not emailed them about status updates though

interviewed 10/27, really, really hoping to hear back today. waiting another week (or more...) would be dreadful.

I interviewed 10/20 and called to ask about when I might get some news back. They said in two weeks
Did they say 2 weeks for any decisions to be sent out, or for everyone who was interviewed by the same person as you? Because I've heard from people on this board, different interviewers "present" their candidates on different days

Oh I didn't know that. They said two weeks for me

Welp. How quickly things change. Just got the email from SLU, and have been placed on alternate list (which I'm treating as a rejection from what many people said on this board, alternate list isn't usually used).

For those curious, 4.0 gpa, 511 MCAT. Thought my EC's were good (college basketball player with leadership roles, volunteer and work experience in patient care). Super bummed, but that's how it goes. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I'm really sorry to hear that. I have the same stats actually, so makes me pretty nervous!
At least you have an acceptance else where 🙂
