2015-2016 Saint Louis University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A handful in Texas (UTH, Tech, UTSA, A&M) and a couple state schools (Utah, Indiana) and also Miami. Miami adds everyone to the alt list then pulls from that each month. Is it similar to that? Some of the schools I interviewed at still don't have waitlists but this is the first besides Miami that makes an official waitlist before interviews are over.

I think they meant which adcom did you interview with at SLU 🙂

And to answer your question, I think they accept like 2x or more for the class size. They matriculate like 180-ish and I think accept like 400 something. So it should move quite a bit

Haha that makes sense I thought they were calling me out for not knowing how the waitlist works here. I interviewed with Dr. Rainey

Oh no haha I totally just wanted to know who your interviewer at SLU was

When I interviewed here on Tuesday, my interviewer told me that I could expect to hear back in 6 - 8 weeks. Did anyone hear otherwise?

Sorry but could you explain this a little more? I just don't get how it would have significant movement with those numbers?

Well my understanding was that when schools list the # of acceptances they give, that includes the number of people they pull off the waitlist too. So in this scenario, they accept a lot of people to end up filling the class. So that would mean that lots of applicants get in off the waitlist.

But I could be misinterpreting!

How long does it take to hear back from SLU after you send them your secondary application?

Interviewed 2/2 and waitlisted today. Welp, guess that didn't go as terribly as I'd thought. GL to all.

Hi guys. I just wanted to follow up, I am a first year SLU med student that is on the Orientation Committee! We will be planning the events for your welcome week and making sure you have the necessary info before moving to STL. We created a facebook group about a month ago; we ask that only accepted students request to join the group. Once you request to join, we will give you instructions on how to verify your acceptance, so please check your facebook messages (especially that random "messages requests" folder!) Congrats on your acceptance to SLU, and we look forward to having the new class on campus!

If you are having trouble getting accepted to the group, please message me here and I will help you!

I've sent a request a while back, but never got a message to verify my acceptance. Just cancelled and renewed my request. Wondering if there's anything else I can do?

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knows when we are supposed to hear back about financial aid?

Hey all,

I called last Friday and they said to be on the lookout within the next few weeks. They mentioned that you will have your financial aid notification sent to your SLU email first. They will then mail a paper copy to your home address.

Alrighty, good to know. Thanks!

Anyone else hear back from the first week of February? Any acceptances lately?

Anybody else get financial aid information? I checked SLU account today and had an award notification. I'm not sure if it is final though. I sure hope it isn't.

I found it. I'm not sure if they have given scholarships yet or not, mine only has loans.

Same. It was extremely disheartening. I spoke to someone in financial aid and they made it sound like it could potentially change. Emphasis on "could." I wouldn't get your hopes up too much though.

I received the 10K endowment scholarship. I accepted that immediately and will decide to accept the loans on a different date.

Did you have to apply for this on your SLU account? Or do we simply have to fill out the FAFSA?

I just filled out my FAFSA with my parents information too. I went it in two weeks before getting before getting the scholarship notification. I called the office last week to confirm that they got it and they did. They told me to then check my SLU email and my SLU account which all showed my amount. There's a chance that you will be awarded the scholarship at a different point.

Alternate list. Interviewed early February.

Hearing a lot of people get placed on the alternate list from my interview date. Has SLU rejected anyone post interview? Is it wait list or silence for now? Praying for some love from my dream school!

I'm really hoping this trend doesn't continue. I would hate to think that the last couple months of interviews were only for alternate positions, given that I interviewed 2/29. Hearing just one person getting a direct acceptance from these later interviews would give me at least a little dose of hope!

I'm sorry man 🙁 I hope there's waitlist movement! And I'm starting to get nervous because I also interviewed on the 9th but haven't heard anything yet...
Appreciate the support! Best of luck to you. Regardless of movement, I'm just grateful to have one acceptance under the belt, so I'm not feeling too bad if this doesn't work out. I'm sure they're sending out the alternate emails out before the acceptance ones haha so stay positive!

I appreciate your support too! And I'm glad you have an acceptance, so congratulations on that! You'll make a terrific doctor regardless 🙂

I'm honestly not sure how SLU's admission process works... If I remember correctly from something I read in the past I think each interviewer presents a handful of the candidates that they interviewed and the decisions are given out based on when the interviewer presents during the admissions committee meeting. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong? If that's the case it could just be that the person I interviewed with hasn't presented yet at an adcom meeting. Regardless, I also wish you and everyone else in this thread the best of luck!
