2019-2020 Emory

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you for the above data.
It does appear also from the self reported IIs from SDN this year, that majority of IIs are out of state, unless they start with them. Do they usually?
I don’t see here mass IIs for IS people still. Actually overall, there are only a few IIs both OOS and IS. Do you think they usually wait with IIs and interviews because they give deadline after acceptance? So they wanna make sure that you are towards the end of your interview season and decided?

I think you're trying to read too much into what is really a low amount of inconclusive data on this page. In general, Emory interviews 4-5x mor OOS students anyways, so it would make sense if more OOS students have been posting here about IIs.

Yes you are correct. Thank you,
I am just trying to stay calm and hopeful. 🙂

This table is amazing! Would it be possible to get the link for it? Thank you!
This site seems to always take the link and actually embed the table.

I am adding a space in the middle of google to break the link from embedding for you.

Can someone comment on the photo requirement not to "Do *not* submit cropped photos"? I do have a passport-like photo but I'll have to scan it, meaning that it will be cropped in that I have to crop around the photo. Alternatively, I have other photos I used for other schools but it is cropped to just be my head/shoulders but I guess they could tell if it is cropped not to include the rest of my body?
Goddammit I missed the part about not submitting cropped photos. I submitted a cropped photo fml

Cropped photos means that the photo was for example: you with your friends in a group photo and then you cropped the photo to your face, these tend to look really bad. The "no cropped photos" does NOT refer to the scenario such as scanning it, cropping a professional waist up shot to be shoulders up, etc.

Tx! And by plain background, it can't be outside/garden? It should be like a solid color?
I was in my boxers with a jacket and tie on and had my friend take a headshot in front of a wall. As long as you're the only one in the photo and you're wearing professional clothes, it should be ok!

hey y'all - I hope we start hearing more soon (would love an II here)... for those that have IIs or already attended an interview, plenty of people would be grateful if you added to the spreadsheet

add your interview data here.
check your school's data .here.
Done! Thanks for this awesome tool!! Maybe people will stop asking for stats and complete date every time anyone posts anything since its all right there :cat:!

Nah, we’ll still ask because a lot of people don’t use that. Maybe in a month, people will automatically update the spreadsheet, though.

Probably a dumb question but- does everyone else's application status say "your application is ready!" or do they say "under review"? Mine has said "ready" for the past couple months but I wasn't sure if that would change once they actually started the reviewing process, as every other one of my apps has said "under review".

Really like your spreadsheet. Did a minor analysis on average mcat scores and gpas. From your spreadsheet I got 515.6 as average mcat and 3.78 average gpa. Although not everybody has entered, the sample seems pretty good data. Most of the higher mcat guys got interviews first or higher mcat guys got more than one interview which could have pushed it up. This also explains that in next 3 to 4 months people with lower/middle mcat scores would get interviews as most of the higher mcat score guys start rejecting lower end school options once they get into top choice schools.

It stays at your app is ready

"If you have any updates or new information to report since you have submitted your AMCAS primary application, please briefly describe below." - are these also things that occurred prior to submitting AMCAS but we just didn't have room for? or what kinds of things are appropriate for this section?

No. It says new info since submitting AMCAS, not "anything you weren't able to fit on your AMCAS." Telling about an experience/accomplishment, etc. that you have had since submitting your primary is appropriate.

Thanks! Also, for describe your healthcare experiences, is this mainly for clinical exposure, or would non-patient related research work?
Buddy dont worry you will get accepted to EMORY. Stop freaking out about every single thing about your application. Just fill it out and send!

I did just clinical

+1, I don't really think clinical research would really be considered a "healthcare" experience, unless maybe you had a pretty active role interacting with patients in a healthcare setting (ie. at a clinic/hospital).

At emory in the past, when do they start sending rejections? And do they come in waves?

Hey guys! So I just got some extra cash and have no II as of yet. You think it’s worth sending my primary to Emory tonight?
GPA: 3.77
MCAT: 512 (balanced)
Clinical experience: 4000+
Research: 200
OOS, ORM
Help!
With a below average MCAT for this school and a late(r) submission, I personally would just hold onto that money ... but I’m sure everyone’s just gonna say to shoot your shot if you have the money to blow lol

i paid my secondary fee and have a receipt but it still shows up that i haven't paid so I probably won't be able to submit. Did this happen to anyone else?
Yes. There's a glitch in the system sometimes. Just call the admissions office and they'll sort it out.

when did you pay?

Does Emory ever send a separate email saying that the application is complete? I only got an email saying the secondary is submitted.

Your stats are on point. And have strong clinicals which they emphasize, as its a hospital based med school. As the above user mentioned their secondary was released late. And I believe they are OOS friendly
This is really useful. Thank you!

I have around your stats and I submitted a couple of days ago.. If you think you'll regret not trying then I would go for it

When I scheduled mine they were in October, so my guess is they are now into November.
