Has anyone tried asking what their WL rank is? Is that appropriate?

If I remember from interview day and the emails they sent, they won't tell you your ranking. Maybe its different with rona now though. If you do ask, please let us know what they say lol.

I tried asking them but they said they can’t provide that info 🙁

Yes, it is unranked. They pick from WL those who they find the fittest to add to the class and continue to build the most extraordinary and diverse class possible.

Yeah, it's ranked
I just find it odd that we aren’t allowed to know our spot on the waitlist when it’s ranked. :/ It would make a big difference in my expectations of coming off the waitlist. Does anyone know why this is SLU’s preferred method?

Pretty sure it is to fill demographic quotas.

that sounds reasonable

SLU specifically mentions that WL candidates are chosen from:

"[...] our Committee evaluated you based on your interview, academic record, MCAT performance, letters of evaluation, your personal comments, work and research experience, relevant extracurricular activities, and any other accomplishments of a non-scholastic variety."

Anything beyond what they say is pure speculation and not factual.

this also sounds reasonable

Has anyone who is planning on attending SLU next year got the financial aid info yet? I got off the WL and was wondering if they have sent the aid info.

Very true...but that's how they rank applicants, and doesn't clarify why they don't let applicants know their rank.

I was accepted on Tuesday, sent an e-mail to their financial aid office. I had to select accept on the portal before they could release the financial aid package. I received a package today. Only offered federal and gradplus loans. 🙁

RIP! I was hoping they'd offer you more!

Did you fill out FAFSA? At the interview, they made it seem like everyone who filled out FAFSA at least got like 5k or 10k, or at least that was the impression I got.

Yes, FAFSA was submitted in February and on-file when the award was generated. I can only assume at this point, but they likely denied any chance of other funds due to my parent's net worth - despite being in my mid-30s and self-sufficient since I was 18.

This Is exactly why when they say they encourage you put down you’re parents income you don’t!! because based on how much your parents make I feel like that determines how much you will get don’t put their information only put yours unless you know they don’t make much then it may benefit you .

I wouldn't have, except a few schools required it.

Yes, I sent one last week!

Did you upload your update through the portal? I uploaded through the portal and didn't get a response. I also followed up with calls and emails, but dead silence.

Anyone connect with them through phone? If so, what phone number did you use.

Yes, I uploaded through the portal! I never would get a response when I uploaded something new.

Sorry, can't dm you sdn for some reason - can you dm me? thanks.

I'm having the same issue with messaging you, I think your private messaging is turned off. I turned on mine so you should be able to pm me.

Are there any current students lurking who can comment on SLU’s COVID response? Are they communicative? Keeping students safe?

I just graduated from SLU undergrad. The president usually sends a message every week updating us about the COVID response. Most of the dorms are closed and ones that are open have strict protocols. Not sure what is happening in the medical campus but im sure they are taking it seriously.

No point of comparison against other schools so unable to say relative quality. They've been doing weekly town halls for all classes but a lot of it ends up being "we don't know," especially for Step 1/2 the last few weeks. M4s will see COVID-positive patients when back in the wards. M3s will not see them for the first few rotations but will be doing so during latter part of the year.

But for 98% of M1s and M2s, the entire year is basically online school w/ exception of mandatory events anyway.

for those already accepted & who received the 5 or 10,000 university scholarship, how long did it take to see it posted on your student account?
