Hey! Sorry, haven't been on this thread lately, have the Rs gotten to late July yet? Does anyone know where they are at. Last I saw was early July Rs in September

anyone kind of unsure about Tufts solely b/c they've just implemented a new curriculum? Idk if this is anything to be worried about... what are y'all thoughts about it?

All I found so far was the financial for last year. I was going to call them to get them to get more information
There is no need to rush this. The Financial Aid office will email you with the forms when you need them.

The curriculum has changed only in structure/implementation not content. In the old structure, first year was broken up into two med foundations blocks: 1) biochem, histology, pharm, etc 2) physio and anatomy. The end of first year started systems which was on disease pathology and treatment.

The new structure has you in a systems based approach starting in the winter of 1st year (ie now). Instead of separating the two, after going through all the biochem, micro, etc you jump into your systems with a more fully integrated physiology, anatomy, pathology and treatment structure. If you're worried about STEP 1, I'm an M4 at Tufts and also teach the PBL course and can tell you the current 1st years are at the same level my class was at this time. In many regards, I wish this had been the structure during my time.

Well Tufts is one of many schools that are revamping their curriculums. Miller is another example of a great school undergoing similar changes. I think all schools are required by their accreditation to reconsider and update their curricula to meet the current challenges today’s physicians face aka increase teamwork, technology, education on health disparities, etc

Has anyone sent Tufts an in-the-area email before? Are they receptive? I'm going to be in Boston in January and I'm debating whether it's a good idea to send them an ITA email or not. Complete since 9/08 and crickets. Sent them an update letter early Nov too.

Has anyone applied to the MD/MBA program at Tufts and heard back? Does anyone know how that process works? Complete mid August and haven't heard anything 🙁

Hey! I applied MD/MBA and received an II for the MD program. I believe you have to be accepted to the MD program alone and then they decide later about the dual degree. Hope this helps.

I submitted my secondary on 8/2 and my portal just says "Your application is still ready!"

Do you guys think I have any chance at getting a IA?
Same tho. I've been complete since early August and I've even submitted an update/ letter of interest and they are still leaving me on read.
I want to have hope.

In case people are curious about the MD/MPH decision timeline, I was accepted to Tufts regular track in October and applied to the MPH program in late November and was accepted to the program in less than two weeks.

anyone from Nov. 8 interview get word back yet? or knows when we should hear back? (Maine Track)

What are advantages of MD/MPH or MD/MBA? If you enroll now, will that be a commitment? Can you change and withdraw optional program (MBA or MPH) before you start your regular MD track?

I'm pretty sure you can drop the MPH halfway through if it's too much to handle, at least from what I remember

Per their MD/MPH FAQ - You surrender your MD-only seat once you accept MD/MPH and cannot drop the MPH except under certain extenuating circumstances. This is what was communicated to me during the interview day, and students wanting to drop the MPH are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. There's also a 5-year MD/MPH option, but I wasn't able to learn much about it sadly
