Got my interview set up for January 6. I am anxious and excited. Any tips? Tips that do not violate confidentiality, of course . Also, I think I am more nervous about the online portion than i am about the in-person interview, haha. Its just so awkward to talk into my computer screen.

Writing down a list of meaningful experiences that you’ve had in the last several years is always a big help for any interview; at least, it has been for me.

Thats s great idea. I have also been researching their program in depth and taking notes

How did you all feel after the SVI?
I completely ran out of time on one of them and felt like I came off as a deranged person for the rest trying to rush to get my thoughts across within the time limit. But I guess I didn't sabotage myself too badly since I made it in. It's just one part of the interview process as a whole and not necessarily a deal-breaker.

I wonder if it’s mostly for research purposes and doesn’t play a huge part in admissions yet

Anybody gotten denied an Early Decision acceptance and then received an acceptance after being placed into the general applicant pool?

People that were accepted: Is there a class Facebook page yet? And if so, how many are currently in it?

No I don’t think so. I got an email a while ago that said they’d do it later and let us know.
There is one, instructions to join it are on the portal in acceptance materials under the tab “social media”. Right now there are only a few students and admin in it.

Question about interview attire. I am currently shopping for a flattering suit and I found a beautiful olive green one and a dark teal suit. Would those colors pop too much for the conservative nature of the interview?
The teal looks like so:

And the olive green looks similar to:

You’d be surprised at how little it matters. I’ve been to a few and there were a HUGE mix of colors and everyone looked good. Just get a nice suit that matches your style and makes you feel comfortable.

Anyone interview on Nov 25 and hear anything yet? Dr. Chan usually calls on a Thursday right?

I interviewed September and still nothing. I thought he called Thursday’s, but it seems he’s been calling other days as well.

Any current students, what grading system does the U use? It is just P/F for the first two years, then P/F/HP/H for 3 and 4?

Anyone interview 11/22 and hear anything back yet? I just assumed it would probably be until after the new year

Anyone interview 10/4 with a response? We were told in the wrap-up that most of us would hear around Christmas time I thought?

I interviewed 9/30 and haven’t heard anything haha. I don’t think they’ve sent out any post-II R’s or WL’s yet, have they? I assume they have just accepted the students that are more obviously getting in based on their ranking system.

Yeah, during my assessment day they said that it is possible to receive an automatic acceptance a few weeks to a month after your assessment day if you score high enough on the holistic evaluation, but most people will receive an acceptance in March once they are finished with all the interviews and can rank applicants.

I am interviewing tomorrow! So excited!!! Has anyone found what percentage of those interviewed get accepted? This is my top choice school. Also, does anyone know how much stake is given to the online interview. I was not pleased with how I did. Kept running out of time

I think I remember someone saying that the whole online interview counts the same as one of the MMI stations in your score? But I could be wrong on that. I definitely was not pleased with how I did either. It's weird to talk to yourself on camera 😛

They interview 4x the number of applicants they intend to accept. Ie. they will accept 40 non-residents who graduated from Utah HS or college, and they will accept 10 of those students. And yeah, there are 8 MMI stations, and the online video and the SJT count as the 9th and 10th MMI station as far as weight goes.

Does anyone know if the Commit to enroll date on MSAR is correct... April 30th. That is like 2 months earlier than a lot of the schools. I cant find that on their website and I don't remember if they talked about that on interview day.

Is the video interview something that I should prepare for? If yes, how so?
It's going to be like an MMI station, so prepare accordingly. You'll need to prepare for interview day anyways, so you should be fine.

Thoughts on Utah's SJT?
I discussed the test with my interview group. Most of us felt like it wasn't too bad, but we also were generally unsure how we fared on it. I don't think it's possible to prepare much for it, but I also don't think many people do too poorly on it, but I may be wrong.
