*during tinder date*Hey I’m crying, but I’m crying at the gym. Progress
Why were you looking in through my window last night*during tinder date*
Date: Why are crying? Is it because you found love at first sight after seeing me?
Applicant: wtf no don’t flatter yourself. It’s been 10 years and my dream med schools still haven’t gotten back to me.

Can someone who is in it tell us how many people are in it LOL
got merit scholarship call from dean ratts! She seemed to imply that the merit committee just finished meeting
I guess that's all the initial acceptances.
Isn't that lower than last year's #s apparently by mid-March? Earlier in the thread they said there were 270-300 people in the group by Mid-March.
No idea. I cannot see a LOI hurting anyone though. i sent one.Do we think people mostly get off WL after sending a LOI or To people who didn’t send a LOI too?
I heard thru SDN everyone gets waitlisted on 3/15. I prefer a firm answer and not be held in suspense all summer. Hope if they WL us all they at least tell us roughly where we are in the queue.Anyone know if WASHU rejects post interview or do they just WL everyone
They don’t tell you.I heard thru SDN everyone gets waitlisted on 3/15. I prefer a firm answer and not be held in suspense all summer. Hope if they WL us all they at least tell us roughly where we are in the queue.
Seems like they WL everyone (from years past). But maybe it’ll be different this year, I doubt it though. Is this a school that will reject post II, or do they WL everyone?
The fact that this is even a "reasonable" possibility makes me angry at this processr do u have to accept the A blind?
You got that right. To heck with this - I am moving on mentally. If they call, they call. I'm tossing in the towel.Wustl had the worst possible way to release decisions imo - if you’re gonna call, you should do it all at once, not a slow drip since last October.
No I mean if they tell you you are accepted AAMC rules say u have like 5 days to decline ur old offer or the new one. But will u know ur financial aid offer from the school u got off the WL before those 5 days?Even if you have to accept the A blind, it's not a commitment. Is that what you're wondering?
I see now. From AAMC:
"After April 30:
and
- Permit all applicants:
- A minimum of five business days to respond to an acceptance offer. This may be reduced to a minimum of two business days within 30 days of the start of orientation.
- To submit a statement of intent, a deposit, or both.
- Recognize and respect the challenges of applicants with multiple acceptance offers, applicants who have not yet received an acceptance offer, and applicants who have not yet been informed about financial aid opportunities at schools to which they have been accepted."
"The AAMC understands that an individual’s circumstances (e.g., delays in receiving financial aid offer or other compelling personal reasons) may warrant exception from one or more of the following protocols, and defers to each school’s judgment in such cases."
Here's my interpretation:
We should anticipate receiving a fin aid offer before we need to make a final decision. If that does not occur, you would be in contact with WashU and request an extension to decide after April 30. This is why we submit FAFSA to schools ahead of an A, and if we are WL, they will send instructions encouraging us to fill out CSS when required.
Can you link to where you found this?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the application cycle, it’s that schools don’t care what’s best for applicantsDoesn’t make sense why WashU maintains its practice of waiting a week to give Rs/WLs. Gives many applicants who traveled at large expenses to Missouri several days of dread knowing what’s coming.
Would you be willing to expand on this? What makes it unique? That’s really unfortunate particularly for WashU. I think really experiencing St Louis is really important before moving here. It’s a pretty unique place and it’s not for everyone...
Kind of depends where you are coming from... I think if you’re from a major city it’s a a big culture shock (it really is “the Midwest“ vibe, it has some city-like aspects, but it can also feel very much like a small town). It’s also in Missouri obviously and although St Louis is pretty liberal, Missouri is verrrrrry conservative. Just as an example *the only* abortion clinic in the state is in St Louis and it is currently being lobbied to shut down. That’s a pretty big deal to me. Missouri could lose its last abortion clinic. Its fate will be decided this week.Would you be willing to expand on this? What makes it unique?
Yet many applicants still buy into the idea that schools do in fact care for applicants and have their best interests in mind, or even go as far as saying schools are actively trying to do what is best for applicants. UnfortunatelyIf there’s one thing I’ve learned from the application cycle, it’s that schools don’t care what’s best for applicants
Yeah, the bulletins I said we get weekly and that I’d be willing to post are all about students and staff.Do med students experience robberies too?
