Hm I hope this isn't accurate. So far on SDN no one who interviewed in January/February has heard back with good or bad news. They have to accept people who interviewed early in 2021 unless we interviewed for waitlist positions.
 
So I really hope the Jan/Feb were not interviewed for wait list since that's sad. I feel like they haven't gotten to Jan and Feb which I hope is the case cause I don't have a single acceptance and UNC is my last hope.

Oh no that wasn't me. I think I was saying Dec. 14th was the only interview date in Dec. Someone else said that wasn't true because they themselves, and their friends, interviewed Dec. 7th and haven't heard back yet.

I think you’re right. Based off of last year’s thread, UNC had one more wave of acceptances the second week of March before they sent out a wave of waitlist offers later that same week. So there’s still hope for hearing good news next week!

My portal updated several hours before I received the call, so I had a pretty similar experience! I've heard of some people not getting calls as well and the admissions decision email usually comes a day or two later. The interviewers are the ones that make the calls and they're often super busy, so it can take them a while to get to it or they could miss it altogether.

So I feel pretty confident saying Jan/Feb applicants were not just interviewing for waitlist spots, because I do have classmates who interviewed in those months who were accepted without being waitlisted. But remember guys, until you get the R, you absolutely still have a chance of getting in. Hang onto that and hang in there!
 
I'm a december 14th interviewee and I just noticed my portal changed to decided. Is it a bad sign if it did that and I didn't get an email and there isn't a "link" i've seen some people talk about?
 
I wonder what happened to all Jan and Feb interviewers. Either sdn doesn't have a lot of students who interviewed in those months or there are some big waiting periods for them later on.
 
I'm still awaiting decision. early October interview. I interviewed at two other schools in DECEMBER and already got the R from one and have a full financial aid package and everything else from the other... come on UNC. To not have a decision 5 months post-interview (at schools that start releasing decisions 10/15) is not normal, even in this whack process. (I really do appreciate their hard work.. but it's like.. they have HUNDREDS of applicants who need to prepare to reapply/ write LOI for waitlist/do pre-matriculation requirements for other schools, and it would be kind of cool if they could let us move on with our lives, whatever the outcome. (Sorry for this rant I'm just frustrated at this point after almost half a year of waiting).

Wow...amazing you have already received your financial aid package. Would it be an invasion of your privacy to ask what amazing school has been able to accomplish this? I'm with you...feel like schools should at least reject people they are certain will not make the cut earlier in the process. Especially in state schools who basically make offers for the bulk of their positions from in state candidates!
 
Sorry to be neurotic, but I think I'm the only one who posted on here who's portal changed to decided yesterday but hasn't heard anything. Has this happened to anyone else ?
 
I really don't think those interviews were for the waitlist. I'm pretty sure schools will tell you if you're interviewing for a waitlist position.

I had an interview today for somewhere else and they did tell us it was for a waitlist position.

It was me and all ours still sat awaiting decision sooooo
 
Late January interview, still awaiting decision. During interview day, they were really hesitant to give any sort of timeline but said "definitely by early April" so honestly I'm expecting to have to wait much much longer before I hear anything

Perhaps if we set out expectation for that, then we won't get disappointed. But good grief, some people would have interviewed over HALF A YEAR by then.

They told my group we would most likely hear back before the holidays and it’s now 4 months later with no communication or even a simple “hey we’re behind, it will be delayed a bit” email so it’s not off base to feel frustrated at this point. I’m wishing the best for you, though!
 
Dumb question, but which portal do we check the status of our application? I only have the link for the interview portal. Thanks for any help guys lol
 
Hey guys, I never got a call from my interviewer after my portal changed to decided on Tuesday, but around 10:30am today I received a bunch of emails from UNC SOM with different things and one said to check my portal status and another read " Again, congrats on your acceptance.."
I thought my interview couldn't have gone better so I was really optimistic at first but after completely botching the AAMC VITA (No joke I didn't even record past half-time and it was soooo awkward) and not hearing anything for three months I assumed the worst.
I'm extremely blessed to have been accepted : )
For everyone waiting to hear back I wish you all the best of luck and hope to see you in this upcoming class!!

Are they holding up the people from those two months only? It seems like there are people who interviewed in Sept etc and have not heard back either. Help me understand what leads you to think it is only Jan and Feb interviewees?

I meant that there hasn't been a single post about Jan and Feb yet whereas there have been Sept acceptances. I just wanted to know if Jan and Feb are considered in the acceptance decisions or are we WL positions. And btw if I'm this tired of waiting only for 1-2 months I can't imagine waiting sicne Sept so props to them

I got accepted and was a January interview
