Pre-matched! Interviewed 11/4, completely shook
OOS students do not participate in match day, only Texas residents do. Therefore, you could expect an acceptance really anytime other than match day.Any OOS hear anything today? Or do we have to wait until match day?
Did not get a prematch. Also interviewed on 11/23. Would be interested in hearing if anyone else didDid anyone who interviewed 11/23 get a prematch?
+1 but I didn't see any December A's. We may not hear back about December interviews until January or laterInterviewed 12/4 and nothing :/
I hope so! I’m sure you’re right.+1 but I didn't see any December A's. We may not hear back about December interviews until January or later

So unreal! Got the A yesterday too. Interviewed 12/11😯
According to last year's thread, I think there is a scholarship application that's sent out in early April.Does anyone know how/when McGovern sends out scholarship offers/notifications to accepted students? I've been lucky enough to get a few pre-match offers and debt burden is super important to me!
Anyone with a mid October interview date pre-match?
Haven’t seen anyone bt 10/9-10/23 post about it here which I thought was odd given how many people with November dates pre-matched
I have a feeling they are gonna send out one more batch before the pre-match period ends (if they weren't, I feel like they would have waited a little longer to send out this last batch). Totally speculation though. They also seem to not have sent too many pre-matches out thus far compared to other schools this year? And McGov typically sends out a normal amount of pre-matches comparatively. Another reason why I think they might send another batch- so keep your hopes up!Interviewing 1/8, do you think there is a chance to receive a prematch before ranking on 2/19?
+1 but complete in late SeptemberII just now! Complete in July. I darn near fell out of my chair with shock! LM 73.6, complete in July. 3 dates in January are left. Doesn't look like they'll be doing February interviews from what I can tell.
I was wondering the same thing. I was hoping to learn more about housing options and stuff but I'm not sure if a group has been created yetIs there an accepted student group? Prematched 12/16, Interview 10/30
They have seats to fill or they wouldn't be having interviews. They're not in the habit of wasting their time. At least that's what I'm telling myself while I prep for a January 15th interview!I got my II in November and my interview is in early January. Does McGovern have a fixed number of A's for each batch of interviews, or am I screwed?
Not sure of the symbols but any advice for pre med student who has 3.9 cGPA, 3.8 sGPA, 508 MCAT score, interviewed October 30th, in-state, etc. I’m still waiting on a decision, been two months. Maybe just nerves but this wait is killer. This long of a wait, am I still in consideration, but they are exploring their options? Feels like such a tease. I did go out of state for college but I am classified as a TX resident, so I am a little unfamilIar with pre match stuff. I ranked McGovern #1, no pre-match offer.
Also, this is a general question for TX med schools but should I think about writing LOIs for other TX med schools if I have not heard anything from them after submitting secondaries? I submitted them pretty early in the process and I am a little stressed that it is December and no interview invites/rejections. I saw above that LOIs don’t hurt, but wondering if it is necessary to submit pre interview. Grateful for getting one interview still!
Ok thanks! Yea, because I went to school out of state, they never explained the pre match stuff and since I’m a TX resident, basically only applies to me there. You are definitely still in the running. Just because you haven’t pre-matched yet doesn’t mean you will get a rejection. Idk if most people are accepted through the match but I would suppose that MANY are

Thanks for the advice! Question though, LOI stands for Letter of interest/intent so I thought it was more about my interests in their school, not updates? There is no need to worry. Pre-matches are reserved for a small number of post-interview applications and not receiving one will have no impact on your ability to match with McGovern on Match day. Most TX applicants get their first and only acceptance on Match day; all you need to do is submit your rankings before the deadline. Also just FYI, McGovern will never see you ranked them #1 so that will not influence your pre-match chances. I know the wait is killer, but it’s just an unfortunate part of the process.
Historically, McGovern tends to fill ~50% of the class with prematch offers so there are plenty of seats left. Plus you have waitlist movement and applicants giving up their McGovern seat to got to a higher OOS school to free up even more seats.
For LOI, they have to be incredibly substantial to have an impact (new publication, prestigious national award). Any trivial update won’t make it to committee or have any impact on your outcome. It’s generally recommended by TX admissions experts to wait to send LOIs until you’re waitlisted as those can have more impact in waitlist admissions. LOIs have not been shown to increase chances of getting IIs.

be yourself, interview was p chill. one asked about my app, other didn't. so I'm assuming it's open file, but one didn't read over it beforehand lmaoI have my interview on 1/6, any last minute advice? Also, does anyone know if the interviews are closed or open file interviews?
Maybe you could slip something in if you send an LOI?Does McGovern accept updates after interviews, or does the no-updates rule apply both before and after the interview?
You can write them a brief email if you want, but the beauty of the TMDSAS Match is this: you state your preference by ranking your favorite school # 1.I am also in the post-II no-prematch club, wondering if a LOI would be appropriate before match day. I don't have too many updates other than new grades and research progress, but McGovern is definitely my #1
Good point - probably best to be patient until then. Thanks for your infinite support on this websiteYou can write them a brief email if you want, but the beauty of the TMDSAS Match is this: you state your preference by ranking your favorite school # 1.
Just know that you won't know who your interviewer is until the day/night before. I also recommend going to the pre interview social. The student ambassador I talked with interviewed with one of the same people that I did and was able to give me some advice and ease my nerves a bit. Another thing is that the interviews are open file, but they don't know your GPA or MCAT, so keep that in mind when presenting yourself to the interviewer (This might be good or bad for you. For me, I thought it was bad because I wasn't really able to talk about the upward trend in my grades). In general, the interviews are known to be pretty relaxed. Both of my interviewers basically just read my application back to me and asked me questions about activities I listed and stuff from my essays. Good luck!Do y'all have any last minute interview advice? Or do you know how much McGovern weighs the interview v the application?
Had no idea the interviewers don't look at MCAT/GPA, thanks!Just know that you won't know who your interviewer is until the day/night before. I also recommend going to the pre interview social. Can't say specifically for McGovern but many of the other schools go by waves. As in it becomes a lot more unlikely for someone to receive one if they aren't with their respective batches until Match. When offering pre-matches do all the schools look at the entire applicant pool which has interviewed already? For example, if someone interviewed in Sept and hasn't gotten a prematch offer, would it be possible for them to still get one or would they wait till March for match day?
I know that this is for the EY 2020 class, but does this mean that we will need to buy a new laptop? Also I find it so weird that McGovern has not really followed up with admitted applicants or created a fb page. Guess they're waiting for match.

Regardless of what they have done in years past, this cycle will probably be a bit different. I get that the sense that McGov has been pretty on-par in past years with most TX schools in terms of pre match numbers, but this cycle they seem to have given out fewer than the others. My guess is as good as yours.Does anyone know roughly how many pre-match offers McGovern sends out? (Or like a proportion of the class they fill through the pre-match?)
It's still possible. I know people last cycle and this cycle that interviewed Sept/Oct and did not prematch 10/15 but prematched in December. When offering pre-matches do all the schools look at the entire applicant pool which has interviewed already?
