anyone complete late June/early July receive an R yet? I was complete 6/29 and can't help but feel like I'm next šŸ™ƒ

They probably are just weeding out people as a whole. Some schools do it chronologically, and others(in the case of Sinai) decide when they have a large batch of applicants. If you did not get one this wave, they def looked over your app but deemed you at least eligible to not get rejected this wave, at best to get offered an interview. Here's to hoping that it's the latter for the both of us!
 
Complete 7/12 and havenā€™t heard anything (IS). These schools like Boston and Sinai sending R waves have me on the edge of my seat wondering how in the world Iā€™m dodging them šŸ˜Ÿ

I think they've read everyone's app at least once by this point. They just are taking their time sifting through them to see who they want to reject immediately vs. interview.
 
While I feel happy about the 2 T5 interviews I got this week, I canā€™t help but feel surprised at the lack of love Iā€™ve been getting from my NYC schools. Especially since I went to college in the city and would love to go back for med school.

Does anyone know if theyā€™ve sent all their IIs out?

Apparently my post struck a nerve with people, applicants who have at least one A and pending post IIs at Top10/20 med schools. Please note that IIs=\= As. My stats are quite low compared to the averages of some of the schools that I got IIs for and I donā€™t have any acceptances at the moment. Therefore, it is still very possible that Iā€™ll be a reapplicant if I donā€™t get accepted.

I am interested in continuing my education in New York and I was commenting on the fact that I have received nothing from any of the NY schools I applied to.

Part of this response may indicate why you aren't getting love from NY schools (as in your stats being low maybe?). NYC schools are pretty competitive to begin with and you are likely not alone in your feelings of not getting love from them.

I also would say that going to college in the city doesn't really mean a whole lot unless you are an alum of one of the schools you are applying to... In some states it matters more like Missouri/Indiana/Ohio -- the places people in their 20s don't normally want to spend their time in. This is all just me guessing btw, but my thought is that the idea that
"going to undergrad in the same city of a grad school shows you are interested in that city" doesn't apply as much to NYC/Boston/Chicago, because a large majority of applicants want to end up there and adcoms can assume most people are interested in the city. Does that make sense?

And your first post probably struck a nerve because I initially read it as one of those posts saying "I am happy/thankful... buuuut I am actually not happy/thankful..." I can now tell you didn't mean it that way and were more just providing context, but this is whole process is an emotional rollercoaster and it can just be interpreted as sounding ungrateful. Again dw, because it now sounds like you didn't mean it that way.

And Columbia, Cornell, NYU, and Mount Sinai all have interviews through February (and that does include the possibility of getting an invite in February as well). It's not over until you get an R.

Thank you for your response. Youā€™ve been very helpful and reassuring. I didnā€™t mean to sound ungrateful. I got some great IIs this week and I would be ecstatic to go to any of them. However, the ~30% post II acceptance rates mean that thatā€™s hardly a guarantee and I donā€™t feel totally secure in getting in anywhere yet.

Since they send IIs until February, Iā€™ll have to wait and see whether I get some from these schools. I am a Columbia alum and certainly do hope thatā€™ll help for Vagelos, but I was hoping that the other NY med schools I applied to would see that part of my background as an indication that Iā€™m very interested in staying in New York.

Getting into NY med schools is such a struggle, I don't envy y'all. Most of my CA peers put EVERY NY school onto their list cause they want to experience the NYC life (even tho the med school isn't in NYC...). Hoping you get into the alma mater!

You didn't sound ungrateful at all. (and even if you did, who cares?) I think what you wrote is totally reasonable. Anyway, wish you luck. I am also waiting from Mt. Sinai.. lol

I think it was less about sounding ungrateful and more about the fact you had to throw in ā€œI got two IIā€™s from T5 schoolsā€ and questioning why you havenā€™t received an II from Sinai yet when a lot of us would be happy about an II from anywhere let alone Sinaiā€¦.just came off as kinda entitled/braggy dude

Are we in North Korea? Why are you so sensitive about people bragging about it? (although I don't think that was the guy's intention at all). So because a lot of you would be happy to get II from anywhere, people can't wish and be concerned about not receiving IIs from places that they truly want? I am just confused about what you are trying to say.

Iā€™m getting the sense that they donā€™t go in order at all. My completion date was in late September.
 
II this morning, shocked because I really didn't think I'd hear from them given I was complete in the first day possible (6/25). Update sent in early December. Very very excited!!!! Scheduling through the first 3 weeks of January. Showed up in the portal as an interview tab in addition to an email (that did not go to my spam folder, but check it just in case -- I also have the grad school emails blocked).
