I ask for very little in this life 😅

Are they even sending out interviews any more?

I don't know.

I interviewed in January and felt like I did ok but not great. I was incredibly nervous and definitely stumbled over my words. I didn't send thank you emails because I was so nervous I forgot to write down names. I emailed the med admissions asking for email addresses but got no response, which is fine as I'm sure they are incredibly busy. I also attended the research symposium they had.
Is that a big deal? I have no idea. Am I overanalyzing everything right now? Yes.

😫😫😫

Would y’all choose a solid, well established DO school over CDU?

(and/or assuming DO school is close to home, cheaper tuition, & low COL)

I just saw this asked in Meharry’s chat so I wanted to ask here out of curiosity.

I would definitely do it. I personally think it would be equally hard to match to a competitive specialty. You might as well save some money and build some generational wealth.

definetely not, MD is still MD at the end of the day. where you match is highly dependent on you, not just the school you graduate from.

Yep, I definitely would, although there's no DO schools in Maryland, yet.

My student loans are already dumb expensive, so I gotta consider the financial aspect. Plus, to have familial support and my best friends near me again would be nice.

MD or DO. Imma make it shake

No clue. The person above recommended. I’m sure they already made decisions, so if I’m waitlisted I will.
Yea it seems like the admissions committee is very small so idk how much they pay attention to emails ! That’s just what it seems like

Don’t do it. MD makes a big difference in residency match compared to DO in terms of difficulty matching at the higher tier program

Dr. Loeza is the person dealing to the emails, reviewing applicants for interviews, etc; so yea large task for one person.

But if the applicant is interested in FM/IM, I think going the DO route is fine (plus cheaper COL, closer to home, etc).
IM makes a difference. For example, USC hasn’t taken a DO to their IM program for like 10 years

This and not everyone necessarily cares about "high tier program". Like let me just match. Lol but I know DOs who are in competitive specialities like Derm. DO isn't a death sentence for specialities. Might have an uphill battle but at least the established DO likely has a lot of official connections and partnerships set up to help you network

Exactly. it is also important to remember that they are trying to pass the FAIR act which might somewhat level the playing field for DO's. Harder maybe. Impossible definitely not.

Three things that would help determine it. 1) how much cheaper COA? You talking 10-15k/ year? Not big deal. 30-40k/year? Ok got to consider it. 2) what important is living at home and what’s the situation? Single and just you, eh moving away may be good. Family with little kids and retired parents? That would be a huge help if they are up for helping with the kids. 3) Interested in FM/IM/Peds or ortho/ortho/derm level of specialities.
