looking through last years thread it seems as though they email the first batch and, email/call the people they accept closer to the start of school.
 
when I spoke to the lady today she said call then e-mail, however just emailing was the trend last year as foven pointed out

I asked a month or so ago and I was told that we are notified by phone first as well. As far as the movement on the waitlist, judging from years past it could easily be June or mid July before your name is called! Be ready.

So I assume that at the VERY latest we have to hold out till August 5th.
Would suck to miss the White Coat Ceremony though.

The white coat ceremony is actually Aug. 1 according to other schedules as well as the administration on SLU tours.
If you notice on the web-site you posted, it says Sunday, July 31 (the 31 is a Sat.).
They have the right info on this schedule:

The Welcome Dinner is July 31st the Saturday. The White Coat Ceremony is August 1st the Sunday. And that starts of the orientation week. The classes start the week after.

I agree I really thought today would be the day that at least someone heard some news. Guess there is more waiting but luckily june is right around the corner and there was some movement in june last year good luck

hey dont give up hope just yet! there is always tomorrow! i know some people got back their Alternate List status on a Friday.

Giving up hope on today already...I am giving it a couple of more hours before I pack it in

I don't think that they would have you miss the white coat ceremony. From everything I have read on their website, they view it as a physical and psychological pact to act like a professional doctor and whatnot. It's a pretty important ceremony and a crucial part of the med school experience

i understand that...but they do say that they accept people up until the second day of orientation. i doubt they actually do that, but it can theoretically happen.

From what I have heard getting off the alternate list happens as late as orientation pretty regularly. Sometimes a student will "freak out" on day 1. The other thing that can happen is that someone doesn't report that they thought would report. So..... There is hope until second day of orientation. So there you are minding your own business enjoying your summer and BAM they call and say that you need to be in St louis tomorrow. Funny I think.... What a mess though.

Yet or if it's just not SDN people. The latter seems unlikely bc there r quite a few people that follow this thread. Hmm...

waiting sucks, lol..

i just wish there was some way to know numbers, some information regarding our place on the waitlist, just so we know relative odds

but alas, thats not how it works :/

hope we all hear good news asap!
 
Maybe you guys could contact the admissions office. Won't they give out at least some general info?

they have pretty robotic answers to keep the conversations short. i don't blame them. just wish there was some update they could post online that we could check every now and then.

Yeah, they must be getting tons of questions on waitlists, that's probably why.
 
So this is not going to come as a surprise to anyone as the people at the admissions office already said that the waitlist is moving...

I found the facebook group for the class of 2014 and some people just joined it on may 15th, which means that if anything at least some of the people on the waitlist have already been accepted...
 
Thanks koko_eats for being a calming voice of reason. I am on the wait at SLU and another midwest school. I haven't heard anything from either school. From what I can tell acceptances aren't being given out yet. It sucks waiting but a little patience is better than a lot of madness. Trying to interpret facebook movements into admissions office action probably isn't helpful.

Yeah, I think that's most likely.
 
Pretty sure that someone on this wait list would have heard by now if the wait list is moving. Look at last year. The bulk of wait list acceptances was in mid June.

Two of my friends who got in last year off the WL was in mid/late June...so hang tight.
 
Yeah I guess there is nothing left to do but sit and patiently wait. Hopefully ppl can post if they hear any news so we can get a better idea of how many ppl are getting and so forth..
 
Well, withdrew my other acceptance today. I'll be attending SLU!

caaaarap. i was hoping to find out by this weekend so i dont have to take biochem (a pre-req for my other acceptance). oh well...
