Dean Hicks went over the waitlist in detail at my interview day. 100 people make it to the list. In 2009 they called 5 people from the waitlist to fill 3 seats. In 2010 they called 4 people to fill 3 seats.

Before 2009 though they would need to ask anywhere from 30 to 50 people from the list to fill the class.

Wow has Hopkins just become more popular as of late? Or has the pool of competitive people simply increased? I can't imagine what this year's cycle will be like! Feel bad for those who are applying :scared:

They're not sure why the sudden interest, although the new curriculum did start in 2009 so that may have had something to do with it.

I think so.

no, all applicants have not been contacted yet...

no one can predict what will happen this year regarding the wait list... the recent trend in more accepted students deciding to matriculate could be due to any number of reasons; The new P/F genes to society curriculum, the new state of the art medical teaching building, the new 600+ bed state of the art hospital that will open next year are all recent changes that may be playing a role in less students deciding to go elsewhere.

In addition to the recent changes, we also asked students that were accepted but chose to matriculate elsewhere what they did and did not like about Hopkins in a very detailed survey. By listening to applicants, we are constantly trying to improve as an institution and continue to make ourselves more attractive to candidates! So I think its a combination of all of the above that has led to the decreased pull from the wait list.

Anyone have any insight into whether or not Hopkins is done sending out interview invites? Was really hoping to hear back but hope is dwindling....

For those of us who got the call on 1/20, have you received your official acceptance letter yet?

Wondering the same. Anyone get one recently or know what dates they are now scheduling interviews for?

I submitted on Dec 16th and still haven't been completed yet, should I call them or is this normal?

Oh, my bad, I just checked my inbox and the letter on the 16th was confirming receipt of my application (but it wasn't a completion email). I did in fact submit the application the night before the actual deadline.

I interviewed on dec 17th. Does anyone know if the admissions committee met yet and/or if phone calls have been made for the friday group? thanks!

Hello,

Does anyone know how do they normally send out invitations or regrets?

By phone? Mail? Email?

Or do they send out regrets at all?...

I finished my application in November.

Cheers,
Howie.

Is Hopkins done sending out invites?

Post-interview rejection via snail mail today. Didn't feel great about my faculty interview, so it's not much of a surprise. Good luck to everyone still waiting!!

any news on revisit weekend anyone?

I think the Director of Admissions told me that it was the April 8-9 weekend. Seems to be pretty popular - that's also the weekend for WashU, Pritzker, and I believe Stanford (??). Gonna be hard to swing that.

I interviewed early Jan and got the call earlier this week. Good luck!

I received the email about Second Look yesterday, confirming April 7-10. Really excited about it here! Hope to meet some of you guys over there!

I'm so excited! But there are so many decisions to make! Which events are you guys picking?

Night out at Fell's Point or Charles Theater?
Potluck dinner or dinner in Inner Harbor?
Orioles game or Peabody concert?
Also, which interest modules?

I wish they had more in-depth descriptions of the options... :/

ROBERT!! I've been trying to get in contact with you for a LONG TIME but you're so busy, lol. Is this how you treat the Spelmanites lol.
How you been? Did you defend your thesis yet? And how's Ross doing? Hopefully, I'll see you at the SNMA Conference this year in Indiana 🙂

Since no one has answered with better knowledge than I, I'll give it a shot... Someone who got an interview on December 11th was scheduled for late February, and there were a few more invites given out in January. Considering they generally seem to schedule you at least month before (at least that was the case for me, but I was invited in October for a November interview), I would imagine that they are pretty much done. If not, I can't imagine too many more going out, but best of luck to you guys and hopefully I am wrong with my logic

I'm pretty sure that the next round of decisions is ~last week of March, since the Committee takes a Feb vaca. I interviewed late Jan, and were were told to anticipate news which would make getting to Second Look (April 7-10) very last minute.

I interviewed January 21st and heard the same thing.

I can imagine that things are hectic these days for you all, so to try and help relieve some stress... if you interviewed on a Thursday between Jan 6 and Feb 3 or on a Friday between Jan 14 and Feb 11, you will hear back prior to second look weekend if accepted (I can't give an exact date)... if you interviewed after those dates, you will likely not be notified of acceptance until after second look weekend...

Has anyone done anything about fin aid apart from filing out FAFSA? All the forms they asked to fill has anyone done that yet?

is there just usually one committee meeting per month? or will they have more than one in march?

I would imagine that they have at least 2 or so, one for the Friday kids and one for the Thursday kids. But rjdmmfl would probably know for sure.

Does anyone know the earliest possible date for wait-list movement? (Got that letter in late Jan). Is it May 15- when peeps can only hold 1 school?

I sent them an update/interest letter pre-interview and they emailed me back saying I was rejected.

sorry to hear that. may i ask when you sent your update? i recently sent one in as well, so i'm wondering if i should be waiting to receive a rejection through e-mail too ..

i think it could be as early as may 15, but as late as day before orientation.

well look on the bright side...waitlist movement (if it happens) will happen closer to may 15 than the end of july
