2014-2015 Saint Louis University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know if posting an update on the portal would cause a re-evaluation of one's application? I did see @Ace Khalifa say that he got an II soon after posting an update...
I don't see a reason not to give an update. All I did was tell them, "Hey, I've worked xxx number of scribe hours thus far; let me reiterate what a meaningful experience it has been for me due to blah blah blah." As long as you have something good to update, like anything better than mine, you should be good.

My interview is on Dec 2nd ahhh I'm so nervous. I've already been accepted into two DO schools, but this will be my first MD interview! It seems like most people had a pleasant interview so hopefully it won't be too bad for me. My interview is at 8:15 eeek!

could someone do me a huge favor and post or PM me the link to the secondary/application portal? i just got a new computer and i've lost my bookmarks and somehow a large chunk of my email history...thank goodness i still have my login info.

never mind it's totally on their website

so i've looked over the confirmation emails and what it says on the secondary but i'm still unclear about the process on interview day. if my slot is at 9:00 do i just go straight there to meet my interviewer or do i need to go to admissions first and check in? this is the first interview i've had where the tour and info sessions are afterward, not before!

You check in first at the admissions office. They'll give you a name badge, and any instructions for how to get to your interview location (depending on where you are, you may need to swipe a card to get into a certain building). After you're done, you can meet back at the conference room in the admissions office--for me, the tour/Q&A started at 10:40 am. Good luck!

Anyone have any info and/or words of wisdom for the interview? Or if it has already been summarized and I missed it could someone direct me?

Waitlisted, reapplicant, LizzyM ~71. Interviewed late Oct. PM if you have specific questions.

do y'all think the holidays will slow down the post-interview decision process? hearing in 5 weeks rather than 6 weeks would make the difference between my having to drive across the country or not for another interview!!
knowing my luck i'll get a SLU email midway through my drive.

what is the turn time around on decision after interview? With thanksgiving and xmas will that slow things down?

The only thing that we have to do to hold a spot in the class is pay the $100 deposit, correct?

Anyone interview with Claudia Vidal, MD, PhD and have any tips, advice, info? Please PM me if so.

Thanks.

In early October they told us 4 weeks (and it was even faster), but now it sounds like they are telling applicants 6 weeks.

I think so...I hope so! I just paid the $100 online following their directions. And I also just filled out the thing on the admission offer tab on the portal.
Lol I suddenly feel paranoid that I didn't do something...

Interviewed Oct 14th, still no results yet, I'm so nervous! Does SLU give interview result regardless after over 8 weeks(Accepted, waitlist, rejection)?

I waited about that long, all dependss on how soon your interviewer turns in their stuff and can show up to the meeting!good luck sending positive vibes your way! 🙂

Can someone else who has been accepted here explain to me how to log into the webpage for the first time to do the tuition deposit?? I can't figure out how to log in...

Somewhere in the email/documents there is an explanation that includes what your default password is.

Hi guys, to any current students or applicants who have already interviewed, what aspects of SLU impress and attract you to this school? Anything stand out as being exceptional at SLU?

Are they now scheduling interviews for January?
Yep. When I was scheduling mine, they even had a date for December. I think they had about 3 more dates for January that were still available.

Has anyone interviewed with Dr. Garrett yet? How did it go?

In response to the question about updates... I was complete in late July, hadn't heard anything for months, then sent an update a couple days ago and received a II the next day... Not sure it it was coincidence or not, just my $0.02

What sort of thing did you include in your update? Was it substantial EC or like a "hey I'm still interested" kind of thing?

Mostly just updates on my ECs such as progress in my research, new awards, etc.

Interviewing tomorrow morning. Those of you that have interviewed, my interview isn't until the afternoon. Do I really not need to show up until 10:40 when the luncheon and tour starts? Used to longer interview days.
