hey guys, I'm considering applying here. what is the percentage of OOS applicants that get accepted here? I am from NE. 28 Mcat, 3.6 gpa and +1000 hours of both clinical and leadership EC's. thanks!

The school median is a 33, and a 28 is below their 10 percentile, however, if you are feeling that your application makes up for your MCAT I would go ahead and apply here.

They are a private school so they do not have IS bias.

thank you! I currently work in a community health centers and have been working with the underserved immigrant population in Omaha for over 2 years. Does the school look at stats more rather than the whole application? do you know>?

Well I myself have a borderline MCAT score of a 29 so I'm hoping they look at us holistically. But truth be told, I feel like this is one of the more stat centric schools out there. I mean for a school in Missouri thats not WashU/Ivy League/Not Huge Concentration of Applicants/Not a Coast school to have a 33/3.9 MCAT average sounds pretty stat centric to me.

Edit: for any international applicants out there, my II was preceded by an email reminding me of the required 4-year escrow. So if you get one of those, it may be a good sign.

Any thoughts on interviewing at Anheuser Busch Eye Institute or St. Mary's Hospital vs SLU?
The date I want only has those two options but if I accept a different date, I can interview at SLU

I didn't even know you could interview at all of those. I only had SLU as an option.

Yikes, it does say right in the email haha. As soon as I saw "schedule an interview" I exited out of the email and went to the secondary page haha.

What are some of the Stats of people currently getting interviews? 28 mcat, 4.0 gpa and slu is my top choiceeeee
 
Did anyone else get a weird email today from SLU that is something along the lines of diversity/maturity/mission statement??? I totally do not understand what the point of the email was.

Have you gotten a "complete" email yet? I'm same boat as you...

Edit: If you are still looking for correspondence, there's a part of the portal that says, "Communication Status." It has all of the emails they have sent you. I never got a "secondary complete" email in my actual inbox, but there is one on the portal saying I'm complete.

I felt the same way. I read it like 5 times because surely I thought I missed something in there, but nope. It was truly a pretty pointless email.

I just checked my portal and under the communication status they apparently sent me a complete email on 7/7 but I never received it in my email inbox...Now I'm wondering how many other med school-related emails I haven't received :nailbiting: I don't even check my application statuses once a week since I assume that I'll just get the emails if I get a status change or II so hopefully my inbox hasn't eaten up any of those messages...

Yeah, I hate that crap. I can't be logging into all these portals every day... lol. Let's just hope that the II emails go through for us! 😉
 
Hey guys! I know it might be a little late to submit a secondary...but based on people not writing additional info for the essay and receiving IIs..realistically...how quickly could I turn in the secondary after receiving it? Same day?

If you don't write anything in the optional section, then completing the remainder of the secondary is comprised of approximately 5 check-boxes, a picture upload, fee payment and submission...should be doable within a day 😛

But on a serious note, even if you do decide to write something for the optional section, a short, sweet, and enthusiastic "Why SLU" shouldn't take too long, especially if you do have some sincere interest in the school. And if not, maybe browse the website and find something you like that you can sincerely write about with enthusiasm. And if you have some time now, no need to wait until you receive the secondary to prepare your response.

I think this might contribute to a faster II turn-around but I have zero objective evidence to support that, so take it as you will.

Nice! I'll definitely throw in a "Why SLU" paragraph...but I've been late to the party as a result of my MCAT score.

To reiterate, I have no idea if this actually helps. All I'm going on is that the two IIs I've gotten so far (SLU and Jefferson) were within 2 weeks of submitting the secondaries and in both cases, I used the optional section to sneak in a little "Why XSOM." This could just be coincidence, but I definitely suggest it since it only stands to benefit you.

I will defer to others who are more experienced with the process to give their thoughts on your "lateness" but I get the overwhelming sense that being complete before September is pretty good timing since, according to my understanding, that is when many ad coms actually begin full operation.

I often have to remind myself that the people here on SDN do NOT represent the average applicant, so I try not to let what I see here in terms of stats and timelines faze me too much.

a 35 and 3.9 is well above the median for MD matriculants, yet you act as if you have a 28/3.5. Its not far from Ivy League anyways. What I'm trying to say is that I really wouldnt be worrying with your numbers. Med school admissions (especially MD schools) are super stat centric.
 
Turned that secondary around in 10 mins. haha. Hopefully they can just ignore my old MCAT scores..and focus on my MCAT2015 one 😉
