2019-2020 Indiana

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone who received an interview invite on 8/20 still not have an interview date. My portal still has not updated the graduate fee or given an interview. Thanks

I got an II on 8/22, SCP applicant, OOS, no ties.

I don't have a date yet, and my portal has everything checked except "prereqs met" and "app complete."

Lol, thanks for everyone giving feedback! So it looks like OOS and non-SCP IIs have definitely been given lol albeit probably not as many as the SCP purely because they probably are trying to get to the SCP applicants first.

For any SCP applicants that have already interviewed, were you interviewed by faculty overseeing your concentration along with relevant questions, or was it more in line with a standard MD program interview?

When did they accept you off the waitlist? How long did they leave you hanging for?

In interviewed early January and they waitlisted me in April. Then, I found out I got off the waitlist on July 23rd... so it was a wait! Haha it was exciting though and that is honestly what powered me through the week leading up to orientation. I had to get housing and financial aid in order within just a few days but it’s worked out!

Is there an option to house/stay with students? If not, what is the closest hotel to IU school of medicine Indianapolis campus?

"Your application is now complete and ready to go before the admissions committee. All applicants will receive a final decision by June 1."

Did anyone else get this email even if they're ED?

nope. ive had radio silence from them since submitting my SCP application end of august lol

Does Indiana accept pre-II updates? Also, has anyone from the Prevention and Health Promotion scholarly concentration heard anything yet?

Any current student willing to host me for a day?
My interview is at Northwest-Gary on Wednesday October 2 at 2PM. I am getting there at 9AM in the morning. Just need a place to take a shower and change. Will be traveling back on the same day after the interview.

Portal finally shows that my prereqs have been met and my grad fee paid. It still says that my application is incomplete though but I assume they just have to update that since everything shows received. Interviewing at Indy on 10/2

Same status on my portal, albeit with no II date yet

is there a place to get signed up for housing with current students? or do most people just book hotels? trying to plan for my interview

My application is still incomplete because I haven't taken my last semester of physics yet (taking it spring sem). Will i not be reviewed until after I finish this prereq even though I've already interviewed?

no, if admitted, your admissions offer is conditional on you completing your missing prereqs before matriculation (along with other conditions like background check, transcript/IA discrepancies, etc. if applicable)

I paid a week ago, but my portal still says graduate fee not paid. Anyone else have the same problem?

did they email you when they scheduled your interview? I keep checking my portal but if they email and update with the date then I probs will stop
I did get an email. On the portal it says even if a date shows up on the portal it's not official until they send you an email telling you it has officially been scheduled.

How long does it typically take to show that the grad app fee was received? I paid over a week ago and still don't have a green check mark in the portal

Does anyone know if they sent most of their SCP applicant II already?

Congrats! At this point I feel like getting my interview date confirmed will bring the same initial rush that I felt when I got the first invite from Indiana lol

They must be stalking this thread.. just got my date confirmed for 10/9 in Indy! The rest of you SCP interviewees probably won’t be far behind!

When did you get the initial invite and when is your interview scheduled for?

I think my post is being a little misinterpreted. So I will clarify

I received my secondary/II on Aug 20
Received my interview date of 10/2 in Indy on 9/12 which I sent an email confirmation the same day
On 9/18 I received a response from IU thanking me for confirming my interview. Essentially confirming that I have indeed been scheduled for that day

ok i got II on Aug 20 also but have been sitting in silence since and don't know when I'm going there..

I’m really curious where you’ll be interviewed, as if I remember correctly you applied for the South Bend SCP (same here), and I assumed that we would be interviewed at our respective sites. Seeing that I was assigned to Indy, I wonder if I got bumped over to the normal MD track, or if interviewees for our SCP are being interviewed in Indy instead.

I also applied SCP. I emailed admissions many weeks ago if I could interview in Gary since it’s closer to home. I was told if I’m approved for SCP, my interview will be at that site. So it’s weird you’re not interviewing in south bend! Makes me think they gave us II’s before reading our SCP apps.

For IU students, does anyone know if the student center portal will update to show us if we’re accepted before we get Decision letters?

In the past I believe it has for some people, does your student center say your application is missing materials?

I applied to South Bend SCP and am interviewing in South Bend, so I don't think that's it. I imagine they'd want to interview SCP applicants at the SCP campus, but I could be wrong.

alright other SCP peeps without interview dates. I just called and they said it will take more time... and they would tell us about four weeks before the interview
On the portal does it say your app is complete. I had the II 8/20 and prerequisites still shown as missing. Should I be concerned?

I'm IS, no SCP, II first received 9/13 and completed the secondary/not a secondary the same day, currently marked complete on the portal. Any idea how long until I get an interview date? Those with interview dates, did you get any choice or get to express preference on which campus?

I applied to South Bend SCP also but haven't heard about when I'm interviewing 🙁

South Bend is a small school so I imagine the interview groups are quite small as well. I believe I received my II around the same time as you, so your time should be coming soon!

This may have been answered before but scrolling through 521 posts sounds like a challenge. Does anyone know how strict they are with their "non-science" faculty letter requirement? I already had my letters sent to IU back when I did my primary app and wasn't aware that they wanted a non-science letter. I got an II today but am now unsure if I will need to get another professor to write me a letter lol.

I emailed them about having two science letters. Their response, “Yes, having a second science letter in place of the non-science letter is acceptable for us. Let us know if we can do anything else to help.”

Thank you, that's very helpful. I appreciate you!

II received 8/20 still no date. I checked my portal and the only thing missing is the Prerequisites but the Application Complete tab has disappeared that used to be under prerequisites. Should I be concerned or has this happened to anybody else?

Just checked my portal, and I have everything checked (including Pre-reqs), but my Application Complete row also disappeared. For reference, I got an II around that time and also have my date confirmed, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Perhaps they felt that checkbox was redundant and just removed it?

I noticed that the application complete tab was missing on my portal too but I am interviewing next week. I think they may have removed it because even if you have everything else with a green check mark your application will still say incomplete. People were probably emailing them like crazy about that. I think having the interview feedback from your interviewers is what truly completes an application. But I am not 100% certain. I wouldn’t be too concerned though
