2019-2020 Indiana

Any other mid-September II people still waiting on a date? I hope I'm not the only one haha
I'm also still waiting. I've emailed them about the interview and here's their response:

"The only thing required to put you in the queue for interview scheduling is completing the Graduate Applciation & Fee. After you have done that, you will be ready to be scheduled."

Guess it's a waiting game now...

I applied to South Bend SCP also but haven't heard about when I'm interviewing 🙁

I looked on the school website and it says that the SCP one isn’t available for the 2020 year? I also applied to this one and got an II so I’m wondering what will happen...I got my interview date recently though and it looks like my interview won’t be at South Bend. I wonder what that means.

I called them. They told me that they are taking students for the program. They said that the program will likely be taking students for fall 2020 and that the website was reflecting students for fall 2019. They also told me that they will try to find out more about the interview date. They are calling me back within 48 hours.

Oh ok, great! Thanks for checking with them.

I called admissions for the regular campus because they schedule all of the interviews. It turns out things might be a little more complicated than we think. Just because we got an interview for Indiana doesn’t mean that we got an interview for the priority placement program. They also would not tell me whether I have an interview for the regular campus rather than the priority placement program.

So I just called the admissions office as I’ve still been a bit unsure as to what the topic of my interview in Indy would be like (I also applied for the South Bend SCP). They confirmed that I was deferred from the SCP pool, and that my Indy interview would be a traditional one.

Just wanted to share some insight! So once you get your date & location, if you want to verify what type of interview you have, they can probably clear that up for you as well. I think in your case they may still be considering you for the SCP?

Post interview anxiety has finally kicked in! Although I am an IS URM, my stats are still well below the average for IU. And starting to feel like my interview invite was just a courtesy and will have an R coming sooner or later. Lol sorry for the quick vent, but it’s finally setting in how incredibly stressful this process is. Anyways, good luck to those who also recently interviewed, or have one coming up🙂

I totally feel you! I’ve felt the same way about my interview and I also have stats lower than their average. Hang in there !! Hopefully we get some good news 🙂

Lol R here as well. Anyone IS get Rs today? Wondering if they were just sweeping through us OOSers lol

On a side note, that R email is so savage..."We regret to inform you that your record does not make it possible for us to include your application in the group selected for further consideration." Tell me how you really feel about me IU lmao

Lmao it’s impossible for you to go to school here. K bye

R
OOS, but had a connection to the state which was why I applied. Best of luck to everyone else 🙂

Anyone who has already interviewed still have an "incomplete" application on the portal? It shows "prerequisites have not been met", when they certainly have

if you scroll lower on that page with the check marks, it shows which courses haven't been met!

If you have interviewed, they said they were going to make sure to review everything before your interview. So if you are missing anything then they have likely determined that some of your courses are indeed not meeting their requirements. You should call or email them about it

I finished all my prerequisites long before I interviewed, but was still shown as "incomplete" on the portal until a week after my interview. I think that's just a matter of the admissions office processing things slowly, and not something you have to worry about.

Good to know, I’m hoping this is the case for me as well!

Is your missing course chemistry? Although I haven't interviewed yet, I see 3 credits missing in gen chem even though I feel like I should have met the requirement.

It was not. I also completely misunderstood the missing prerequisite list as a comprehensive list of the prerequisites I have completed, not those that are still missing. The only one that I was missing was a course I took over the summer, so it wasn't on my transcripts yet. I'm dumb lol

Long time lurker just wanting to chime in: I applied SCP (OOS, ORM) and got an II on 8/22. Interview scheduled on 9/19, but in Indy. I emailed the admissions office and they pretty much said I was deferred to traditional MD pool.

First interview this week, so I'm really nervous! Anyone who's interviewed here have any last minute advice?

@eggfriednice My interview felt pretty chill, the interviewers were nice people (you could end up having 2 or 3 interviewers btw). My interview started with basic stuff (tell us about yourself? why do you want to go to IU? etc.), then they asked me about a bunch of stuff in my application, and at the end they did like 7 questions in the "tell us about a time you ____ " format.

So yeah, have a spiel ready for the most common interview questions, be prepared to discuss the past experiences in you application, and also expect a few questions that you can't really prep for. Basically the exact same prep you would do for any non-MMI type interview.

My interviewers were people only peripherally associated with the school, so they didn't really have a lot of specific insights about the program. So when you are preparing questions to ask at the end of the interview you might want to include some that work for people not intimately familiar with the curriculum and all that. Most of your most important questions you will want to present during the info session where a panel of current students answer Q's.

I got the "recieved email on" August 8th and the SCP invitation email on August 9th, but i did not apply to it. I havent heard anything since.
For those in the same boat, who are just applying through regular admissions, have you all heard anything? any II invitations?

@MasonBlue

Thanks so much! I know IUSM is an open file interview, but that sounds pretty chill and conversational. Best of luck to you!

Is the portal everyone's talking about the same portal where you filled out the CAS application? Or is there some other place I should be checking?

last year IU sent me their "We received your AMCAS application" email in the beginning of September and got an II within the end of the month. I applied to schools like over a month earlier this year and I received that email in the beginning of August. But I still havn't heard back from IUSM after that. Is it weird that I applied earlier this year but still havn't heard back as compared to hearing back sooner with an II last year?

Does anyone know if IU accepts update letters or letters of intent post-interview?

For those of you who interviewed here in the morning, what time did your interview finish? Anyone interview at the Muncie campus?

Hey! I'm OOS (from Ohio) and didn't apply to SCP (really thought about it, but would much rather be in Indy). Sadly, no communication from Indiana since my completion email on 8/2 and my SCP invitation on 8/9.
Hey, as an MS1 I have a little bit of insight on the scholarly concentrations. There is an opportunity to apply to scholarly concentrations about a month into school (currently, the application for MS1's is open right now). AND, besides the Gary and Terre Haute concentrations, you do NOT need to be at that campus. I know the rules for early acceptance in a concentration are different, BUT that may relieve some stress if you decide to go to IUSM without committing initially to a concentration but want to do one.

I think your experience sounds like the norm, but I had a single interviewer today, and we only got through like 6 questions (he talked like 75% of the time), so that was interesting lol. Otherwise the school is quite nice and Indy is beautiful.

Just got my II date assigned to for 11/6 in Gary, Indiana. I applied through the PPP for the SCP at South Bend... anyone know how to find out what I'm interviewing for?

edit: jk just read the last page - looks like I was deferred to regular admissions

Wow I would do anything to trade interview locations with you. Got the same date but Fort Wayne, which is a 3 hour longer drive for me :/ also assuming I got deferred to regular admissions!
