2019-2020 Tulane

On CASPer (boooooooo hahaha ok I'm done), somewhere on their website it said that CASPer is optional for this year but beneficial when adcoms review applications. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that if there are two candidates with equal stats, ECs, letters of rec, etc, the one with a CASPer score has higher chances of admittance.

How long did it take for yall to be considered complete? I’ve been waiting 🙁

Submitted and complete on 7/10 but still not under review........ feels like I wasted some $$$$ lol. Also, when does tulane send out the Rs?
Yea I submitted 7/10 and I'm still not complete ... And then there are ppl who submitted 7/18 getting II ):

Does anyone have this thing where you see check marks across everything (submission, fee, letters, app file complete) except for in progress (red "!")?

Submitted on the 12th and still waiting to be under review.

did anybody get any II today? usually they send it out on Monday
I got an email that my app was under review on 07/23

As neurotic as it may seem does 7/23 applicants getting IIs today imply that 7/22 and earlier are getting passed on for now?

I was under review on 7/22 and just got it today so i'm sure you still have a shot. I also got their secondary super late (not really but there were so many posts of people getting a secondary before me that I thought I was going to be rejected just because I was submitting so "late", but i got it on 7/12 and now here I am). Nothing is for certain, so just make sure all your apps are complete and check your email every now and then. You haven't been passed on any more than I was passed on these past couple weeks.

Does your portal say under review or in progress? I got a complete and under review email awhile ago but my portal says in progress so I was wondering if it changes when they actually review it or not!

Mine is in progress

anyone still waiting on a secondary? finished pre-writing last week, casper delivered - just need that secondary 🙁

Complete but not "in progress"...is it normal?

Yes, please just read the thread. This is the status that most of us sit on until we receive a completion email, the last red box goes green, and our app is actually being read by them!

Question: it shows my letter was received one week ago but it still has an exclamation next to it. Did this happen to anyone else?

How many rounds of II have they sent out so far? Also there interview acceptance rate is super low. Do they just interview a lot of people normally?

Where'd you see this? They interview ~600 students for 191 seats. I'd guess they accept ~50-60% post-interview.

So they send out around 600 interviews for a class of just under 200. Assuming as per the traditional rule of thumb that a school will send out twice as many acceptances as they have seats to fill, they actually end up giving out the A to 2/3ds of their interviews. I don't think that's too bad.

They do send II's out early though

I am in the same boat.

I guess I just didn't understand the 191/600 very well. Just nervous I guess!
There's 191 matriculants to the school, but not everyone that is accepted matriculates. Therefore the school will accept 1.5-2x it's class size (so 300-400 interviewees). If you got an interview you have a good chance of getting in! 🙂

My portal says my rec letters were received but still shows a red check. Should I call them?

The general rule of thumb is that a school will give out 2-3 times as many acceptances as the number of matriculated students in the entering class. Since Tulane loses a lot of accepted applicants to cheaper schools (LSU is a major rival), they accept closer to 3x. The class is around 200 students and the interviews are around 600 so the vast majority of people who interview at Tulane will get in. As long as you don't do or say something catastrophic on interview day, it's safe to assume your chance of getting in is extremely high.
