How long were the student and faculty interviews?

It seems to vary from person to person. Mine was exactly 30 minutes for the student interview and then we had an hour allotted for the faculty interview, but mine only went up to 40-45 minutes. I was worried about not taking up the whole time but I was accepted so it seems to be fine either way

were we SUPPOSED to email admissions if we didnt get an email for a student interview? i thought not everyone gets one, but it seems like most people in this thread did?

When did you get your interview invite? I was contacted by a student 5 days after the original invite to set up the student interview. Maybe if it's been longer than that you should reach out just to be safe.

The portal does say to reach out if you still don't have an assigned student interview by the Thurs before your interview. So that's what I did and they replied the next day saying someone might reach out over the weekend or I might not have one. Ended up not having one.

it's been almost a month lol and i'm interviewing this coming week. i'll shoot an email now.

So for clarification bc it seems like just not a lot and weird timing compared to others if anyone who has interviewed doesn't mind (interviewing here in 2 weeks, but have to reserve a room for it so want to be certain on timeline), the interview is only the Q&A Sunday night (optional), the lunch presentation 11-12:30 and then whenever your faculty/student interviews are scheduled? And I haven't been assigned a student yet so will email later this week then about that because honestly would love one.

Yeah that's correct! I had my student interview at 10-10:30, the presentation at 11-12:30, then faculty interview at 1:30

By around January you can't even get a direct acceptance; everyone is waitlisted.
I'm having a weird inner conflict with myself, like on the one hand, I want to keep my original date (11/10--which I already thought was late after being invited early Oct), because I've scheduled off work and want to be considered as early as possible. But on the other hand, I'm like "will they think I'm selfish for not picking another date? Will they think I'm a down-to-Earth samaritan if they see I change my date? Is this like a built-in, real-life Casper test scenario AAMC is piloting??? You just can never be sure with these people...

Someone asked a similar question earlier, but I'm still confused. I got in on 10/15, and I was wondering if anyone else was confused by the email? They say they would "appreciate receiving official notice of intent to register within the next two weeks." That seems crazy to me as they must expect people are still waiting on other acceptances/financial aid packages. Are other people just ignoring that, or are you emailing saying that you want to keep your spot but can't officially accept yet? I'm probably being paranoid, but I don't want them to assume I don't want the spot just because I didn't email. People said you can hold multiple acceptances, but I've only ever heard that you have to be down to three schools by the April date (i.e. have let go of your spot at other schools), not that you literally accept 3 offers. Can I accept for now and then reject later if I get in other places?

I haven't been accepted here, but have a similarly worded offer from another school, and at that school, it's non-binding and just means you accept the offer, but it is not the same as committing to enroll (which is when you actually decide in like April), anyone with info about SLU specificially, please correct me if I'm wrong. Congrats tho! Any tips for interviewing next week? 🙂

Thank you! It was a really informal interview - no ethical questions or anything. They just asked about my life, and it seems like they care a lot about passion. I would also keep in mind that it is a jesuit school, and they are really into that and giving each other "grace" etc. You don't have to fake believing in that if you don't, but at least seem like you can vibe with it. Good luck!

Those that interviewed: Not sure if I missed this info during the presentation but did they mention when we would hear back about acceptances/rejections/waitlists?

How long are the turn-around times? aka from application complete to interview invite/pre-II rejection

i got accepted with a 510 being orm and oos. interviewed 28th sept foud out October 15th. yall got this. but not to worry some, my interviewer really vibed with me ,and basically said ill see ya next year and that my recommendations were excellent. so there is obviously luck involved as well in who interviews u and what "mood" they are in

Hi everyone, I submitted my secondary on 9/13 and haven't heard anything back. Should I be worrying? Like how long did it take for everyone else to get an interview invite? I'm out of state, 3.98 gpa, and 510 mcat.

Sorry, I think I said it a bit strangely. I meant I wasn't interviewed this cycle. I interviewed later last cycle and wasn't able to get off the waitlist. This cycle they called and told me they would accept me on Oct. 15 without an interview based off my waitlist rank from last cycle.

^ Damn this king/queen goes hard. haha. I interviewed and got WL last year as well but obviously not high enough to get this option. congrats!

I submitted in late July and have not heard back

+1 here. I was complete on 8/22 and still no news despite being a re-applicant who interviewed and WL last cycle. But of note, last cycle i was not complete until Oct and got the invite to interview mid Jan for early feb. Stay strong!

Did anyone who got an II attend the student Q&A session? Just curious what it was like and what you wore?

You will get an interview. I believe. I literally had same LizzyM as u and I'm OOS ORM
Thanks for your hope!!! I really hope so! I wrote an essay on SLU and Saint Louis and my ties to the area (which I am fond of). I hope they read that and give me a chance. GL for the rest of your cycle!

thanks you too! Im so happy that I have an acceptance to SLU. took away a lot of stress from me

question: did anyone who got accepted have 30 min interviews?? both my student and faculty interview were ~30 min (30 and 36 respectively) and seeing all the accepted ppl have 40+ min interviews is freaking me out.

The student interviews are part of a pilot project so I won't even worry about that. I think a 30 minute interview is normal. Mine was yesterday and was also 30 minutes for the faculty. Some interviewers might be more or less chatty. Apart from time, do you feel like the interview went well?

The Associate Dean of Admissions interviewed me a couple hours ago, and it was ~45 minutes. I think it went well, and it left me a good impression of the school, overall. Very conversationall from the start. She didn't ask the "Why do you want to pursue medicine?" It just flowed during our conversation. I also had the student pilot interview, which was casual and only ~24 minutes. Both were open file, and not intimidating at all.

Are people putting their thank you notes on letterhead or just a plain document (since we have to upload to the portal)? And are you including a signature?

Yeah I am really not sure how to do it. Been procrastinating it because I feel weird about uploading a plain word document with a couple lines of thank you.

Does anyone know when we need to complete the VITA? The website says 4 weeks but 4 weeks would technically be after my interview date.

I was in the same boat. Not sure how/if they even consider it, but just in case I did It beforehand so that after my interview, my file would be 100% complete in case that matters (but I would not be surprised if it carries no weight at all)

Yeah it's four weeks. I did mine 3 weeks after my interview and it was fine (I got accepted). I think someone else on here also got accepted before even completing VITA so I don't think they're really taking it into consideration this year

It was alright haha I’m not super sure and I feel like it could go either way. I’m a more serious/solemn interviewer and my interviewer was more chatty/casual so we didn’t click very well.
