Hey guys. Sorry if this was already covered earlier ITT. I accepted and paid the $100 deposit to hold my spot here, but now I'm looking to withdrawal. I can't seem to find anywhere to do so on the myslu.slu.edu page. Can someone point me in the right direction?

My guess is you just have to email admissions. Hopefully they should be able to coordinate your refund of the deposit as well.

I've lived in St. Louis for a couple of years and let me tell you: Pappy's is the popular big name but they are far from the best BBQ in StL. Check out the Bogarts for really good ribs, Sugar Fire for incredible saucy bbq (and their sister restaurants Hi-Point Drive Thru for good burgers and SugarFire Pie for sugar and delicious pies), and Salt & Smoke for the best all-around BBQ (one of my favorite restaurants in StL, DEFINITELY get their Mac&cheese). Honorable mention for BBQ include Vernon's and the Shaved Duck.

For the uninitiated, St. Louis BBQ is often grilled and then slathered in delicious sauce, so prepare to get messy. Definitely worth a try.

You're awesome. Ill definitely take a visit when I go back to St. Louis

Awesome thanks! Best of luck to everyone in this cycle. Hope some qualified applicant takes my spot 🙂

At about what time was the interview day done for most people?

At about what time was the interview day done for most people?

There are two options, and your interview will be completed either before or after lunch. If before lunch, you will be done around 12:30- 1 PM. If your interview is after lunch (they send you the time in an email) you will be done approximately one hour after your interview start time.

Sorry if the question has already been asked, but is anyone familiar how the waitlist here plays out? Are they receptive to interest letters?

Also interested in this. I think we're still in the running, but we are just delayed in hearing anything until at least May :/

Anyone have recommendations for hotels?
I stayed at the Hampton Inn, was very nice, not too expensive, and had some food nearby. I Ubered to the school in the morning, didn't take more than 10 minutes. Took the GoBestExpress shuttle from the airport for $25 to the hotel.

Hey I am interviewing here in two weeks. Does the interview day really start at 10:30?

Hey guys, I'm new to the thread.

I'm really curious if anyone else is in my boat. I still have 6 schools (including SLU) that have not sent in any responses (no rejection or interview invite). What does this mean since the interview season is almost over? I've checked all of my application portals for these school and they just say "your application is still under review by the AD COM."

Appreciate any input!
Thanks

Pre-II rejection this morning. Good luck to everyone still in the running and congrats to acceptances.

I interviewed here a few weeks ago, and I just wanted to post and say that this school really surprised and impressed me. I really loved the environment and the atmosphere that the students seem to make, as well as their commitment to serving the community. I wasn't really sure about accepting the II, but I am so glad I did!

Really glad to hear it, I was having the same concerns about accepting the II as well
I'll look forward to visiting Saint Louis!

A fellow SDNer that would like to remain anonymous would like me to share this with you all:

"I agree 100% with Dr.Kat. I interviewed with Dr. Willmore recently and it was by far the most stressful interview I've ever had, and I interview quite well usually. He just nitpicked and questioned every little thing I said, to the point where I was certain he was convinced that I made up every activity on my app. When I answered questions he gave me unconvinced looks. I left that day convinced I didn't get in. However, a few weeks later I got in. So, if you get Dr. Willmore don't freak out! Ultimately that interview left me annoyed, so I am unsure about whether I want to matriculate or not, but it's a great school."

Below is my tale:

Hey all! I was accepted on 12/5 and interviewed 10/28 with Dr. Willmore. I just wanted to share with you guys I interviewed with him and it was tough and I legit thought I was rejected straight away. I cried the rest of the day knowing I had bombed the interview. Needless to say that I was shocked to have gained acceptance despite the tough interview! Just some words of advice, if you think your interview with Dr. Willmore went poorly or he was too strict, just don't take it personally and realize that is his interviewing style. After I interviewed with him, I searched high and low to find some comfort in the fact that he was so stern...so I hope I'm providing that for someone who feels uneasy after interviewing with him or any other strict interviewer! Best of luck to all!

Cheers everyone!

Felt the same way and now it's my top choice!

I called and was told it wasn't going to be until April? Is that not true?

They say in the Student Financial Services letter "Initial award notifications will be sent beginning February 1 provided you are admitted to the School of Medicine and your financial aid file is complete." I was going to call next week to inquire, where did you hear April?

around what time do they usually send out emails (rejection or II)? still havent received any word from them not sure if its a good thing or bad thing =P

Interesting. I called the financial aid office but they must have been misinformed. I'll try calling again

Edit: I called again and was told that they are working on it currently. Although they do not have a specific date, they said it will be sometime this month. The medical school has it's own financial aid department and I must have called the undergrad's. Sorry for the confusion

Awesome! Thanks for letting everyone know so that I don't bug them an additional time 🙂

I stayed at the Clayton Plaza Hotel for my interview. It's about 10 miles away from campus, but I was very happy with my stay there. It's a pretty fancy hotel imo, and it was the cheapest option. Costs a bit less than $20 to uber to campus one way, but that's less than what you save on the hotel. It doesn't take long to drive to the campus, about 20 minutes. What I really liked was the city Clayton seemed to be really safe, with new glass buildings and everything, although not too many restaurants and stores in the area.

I stayed at the Drury Inn which was really nice and only about 10 mins away if I remember correctly.
I did too!!!! They had happy hour in the lobby from like 5-7pm, they allowed 3 free drinks! they also had free dinner during the same hours lol! hahaha I was shocked and thought there was a catch or they were joking. I totally recommend Drury Inn!

Has anyone interviewed second week of December heard back yet?

I just got an II here this morning. I applied to so many schools, I forgot I was waiting for them too. Very grateful for the interview nonetheless, seeing as I have no acceptances yet. I'm still waiting on 15 schools to end the silence post-secondary, so you're not alone. I'm gonna start writing letters of interest to those that accept them.

Hey guys, my interview is at 1:00pm next week. Will I be able to make a 4:50 flight out of STL?

Hi all, I am a first year SLU med student that is on the Orientation Committee! We will be planning the events for your welcome week and making sure you have the necessary info before moving to STL. We have just created a facebook group (just search Saint Louis University School of Medicine - Class of 2021); we ask that only accepted students request to join the group. Once you request to join, we will give you instructions on how to verify your acceptance, so please check your facebook messages (including message requests). Congrats on your acceptance to SLU, and we look forward to having the new class on campus!

I canceled my interview here recently. It was kind of sad turning down the opportunity. I hope it goes/went to one of you deserving people on here!

I used public transportation. The little subway thing had a stop right at the airport and took me alllll the way to like a 2 blocks from the Drury. I had to lug around my luggage on the streets, but it was my workout for the day 😛

II yesterday, still undecided whether to attend or not due to work/financial reasons. Grateful for the opportunity though! Any thoughts on the school from those who have interviewed?

I interviewed here recently and was asked in an interview (a) how many interviews I've gotten and (b) where I've been accepted. I didn't know what to do, so I answered both questions honestly. I'm pretty upset about this, but I don't really feel like I have any recourse. Any advice on this? This isn't normal or even allowed, right?
