I was accepted after 6 weeks (interviewed in mid-September)
Accepted! Interviewed 2 weeks ago! This school was awesome
Yeah, that's what they said.
Does a current medical student mind laying out how the curriculum is structured as in how much time a day is lecture, how much time is anatomy and how many times a week, how much time and how many times a week is other stuff like histo...how the blocks are structured, etc. Also, if a medical student can go through how their day is usually structured (how much time they spend on lecture material vs. other material vs. anatomy vs. wellness lectures, etc.) that would be helpful as well! Please PM or post here if you want
Anyone know if admissions is closed until janury 2nd?
I guess someone could call if its important
Anyone know what the minimum grades or gpa is required post acceptance?
I would call in and ask, but it should outline it in the acceptance letter. As far as my letter said, it just said C or above in any other prereqs I had left and I presumed that just applied to all other classes. With that said, I don't think stony would be super happy if you got all C's your final semester of college, but you never know unless you call and ask.
Thanks, yea I reviewed my acceptance letter and it just said satisfactory completion, was just wondering what satisfactory meant and if someone else asked already
hey sorry if this is too forward.
i noticed in your sig that you had quite a successful cycle. my
lizzyM is identical to yours but its looking like i'll have to reapply next year! would i be able to PM you to ask about what you think may have contributed so much to your success this cycle?
has anyone who interviewed in Late november after thanksgiving heard back yet? :'( Seems like it's not good news if december interview acceptances have been given
I wouldn't say that. I think it just means they did the late Nov and early Dec interviewees around the same committee meeting. Don't lose hope because others have had good news!
Don’t sweat it. People in past years waited several months before getting accepted (no waitlist either). Just have to wait and see.
I’m still waiting on results from my early November interview by the way.
Second call for any med students or fellow applicants to elucidate the amount of time that needs to be dedicated towards mandatory things like wellness lectures, labs, pbl, etc. This info would be super helpful in both my own decision on where to go and I'm sure plenty of other people's (I can't exactly find this info online, nor do I have the email of any sbu students atm)
Where is SB with interviews? Do they silent reject? Have they rejected anyone pre II yet?
Got the WL. Early November interview
What time does the interview day start and end?
Accepted! Still crying
Is the acceptance offer binding? The wording makes it seem so
Based on previous posts on this thread, from people who called admissions, it is not binding - its just an acknowledgement of the offer and that you would like to hold your seat for now! I agree, the wording sounds intense lol
When was your interview?
early December, a bit closer to mid
Hi PentuPenguin, I saw you had a pretty successful cycle so far! can I PM you and ask some questions?
Hello - sure, go ahead! Let me know if you are unable to PM me
Thank you! just PMed
does stony brook give merit aid?
Look on their financial aid/scholarship website. It seems to indicate they only give need-based aid, which is determined by your FAFSA and estimated financial contribution and such (EFC)
Does Stony brook reject post interview?
When does stony brook take step 1 and step 2?
for those accepted, how did you respond to your acceptance via email? did you say you are accepting the place in the class or did you say that you are accepting your "seat"
It....It doesn't matter, nobody cares what words you use to express that you want to save your seat, just send the email lol. If you are stressing about this...don't. It is next level neuroticism otherwise.
Both after 3rd year
Correction: Step 1 is taken after clinicals, which end in the middle of 3rd year
True, true. Since their "3rd year" starts after 18 months, I guess it would be in the middle of other schools third year.
Just received an II invite.
congrats! When were you complete?
does everyones portal say "under consideration?" trying to remember if its always said this or if they're actively reviewing rn.
What time are the interviews?
this is a kind of random question but do med schools talk to each other / know if we're sending letter of interests to multiple schools? I plan on only sending one letter of intent and multiple letters of interest but idk if med schools let each other know if they're planning on taking one student and telling neighboring schools to not accept them etc.
It has always said this
I read somewhere on the traffic rules that they were not allowed to talk about applicants to other schools, but not sure how much this is regulated
Does anyone know what potential scholarships StonyBrook has provided in the past?
I was wondering the same thing. From what I understood, they do not offer Merit
Anyone heard recently? Waiting from a 12/14 interview & anxious
I emailed an update recently and they said that they aren't going to make most of their offers until April/May because of the new traffic rules. (Granted this is MSTP but the same idea may apply....)
II just now!! 3.47 gpa 506 mcat. Complete 9/10!
Rejected pre-II this afternoon. LM 69, complete 8/28.
Are the apps looked at in order of submission? I was compete second to last day of August and haven’t gotten an II or R
