awesome. do you also know if we're able to switch around campuses if accepted? or is it binding?

I doubt you can switch campuses if accepted into your chosen concentration, and you also cannot "downgrade" yourself into the traditional MD pool if accepted into the concentration.

Per IU's FAQ page:

This makes me believe otherwise...
What if I am interested in a scholarly concentration in Indianapolis?

The Indianapolis campus is not part of the Scholarly Concentrations Priority Placement Program. If you choose to attend IU School of Medicine, you have an opportunity to apply for Indianapolis-based scholarly concentrations after you matriculate.

I'm not sure what you mean. There are some concentrations in Indianapolis but they're not a part of the priority placement program, which is what the emails were sent out for. The campuses included in the priority placement program are all elsewhere in Indiana.

If admitted into the normal MD program you can then apply to the Indianapolis-based scholarly concentrations, and I think this is the only way to do so.

Edit:

Ah, are you maybe asking about the following scenario: You go regular MD, get assigned to a regional campus not in Indianapolis, thus you apply for a concentration within Indianapolis in the hopes of "transferring" there? I think this would seem possible.

I was replying to your "I doubt you can switch campuses if accepted into your chosen concentration,...". My bad I forgot to bolden your quote.

I read the FAQ as such: If I accept my acceptance to the scholarly concentration I originally applied to and attend IUSM, then I can still apply for Indianapolis-based scholarly concentrations after I matriculate.

I think the previous IU quote makes it clear that if someone is accepted via the scholarly concentration priority placement into one of the regional campuses, they have to either attend at that regional campus or deny the A. They cannot choose the main campus in Indy instead.

Thanks, limeyguydr (for your earlier response)!.
Re: scholarly concentrations, does anyone know if they actually consider the primary application or is the invite given to anyone who makes it above the GPA/MCAT cut offs they stated on their website?

You're right. I'm tired but I just re-read it. If an applicant denies their placement they deny their acceptance (is what I took from it).

Looks like there's an additional screening process other than the GPA/MCAT cutoffs -- some people in this thread met the minimum stats but did not receive an invite.

1. Have we figured out how selective they were in sending out the scholarly concentration invites?
2. For people who are doing the scholarly concentration app, did you do formal essays or more informal, bullet-style responses?

I was wondering about the legacy disclosure vs. the legal disclosure on our portal. I have submitted the legal disclosure form. I am not sure when we received the legacy disclosure form. View photo attached for reference.

Did you upload your legal disclosure yourself or did you send it off? Also, how did you get the prereqs checkmark?

Just got my interview scheduled for September 11th! Indianapolis campus.

My app was confirmed first week of July, initial interview invite was sent 07/31. IS, not EDP, did apply to priority placement scholarly conc. program.

II today! First one! I applied to the SCP in Evansville and I’m really excited about it. The email I received said don’t do the Graduate Application until after Sept 3, but does that mean I should not log into the applicant portal until then either? Please let me know what your experience has been because I don’t want to log in and get disqualified because I couldn’t follow directions!

I did a more formal essay response for the Evansville concentration, not sure if that helps.

1. Priority placement program has well defined requirement of 507/3.5, and a primary submission date no later than July 31st. Scholarly Concentrations | MD Program | IU School of Medicine

2. Formal essays like I did on every other secondary.

Thank you! It was my first choice, as I have strong experiences involving QI in hospital settings 🙂

Congrats! I just got an initial interview invite on 8/27. By any chance where did you find the information for the interview invite date. I've been looking all over the application portal for it but I cannot find it.

They sent out a second e-mail (mine was 2 weeks later) that had a link to the portal. When I clicked it, there was another tab on the portal called "interview."

oddly enough i submitted my primary to them mid-august and still received an invite for the scholarly concentration program lol

To add to the oddity, I applied primary in June and am above their thresholds and didn’t receive the email. Weird. Oh well!

there is an additional screen after the minimum cutoffs -- there were a couple people in this thread that didn't get them either

Has anyone experienced delays in receiving the "application received" email? It has been over a week since I submitted my primary and did not get one of those emails - wondering if this is typical or if I should email them to be sure they got it.

It is typical. I sent in my primary late June and got the application receipt August 1

i never even got an "application received" email lol. they just sent me the scholarly concentrations app. i dont think they really care to transmit receipts via e-mail tbh

Did anyone receive an email after sending their interview confirmation email? Like a confirmation that your email was received by admissions?

Any tips you have for it? And was it open or closed?
It was pretty low key. My interview was just 1 on 1 with a physician faculty member at one of the hospitals. Idk if it was the interview process as a whole, or just my interviewer, but she was very low-key and easy to talk to. She didn't ask super weird questions to throw me off and it was mostly like a conversation. It was only supposed to be 45 minutes but we ended up talking for about an hour. And she had my applicant file on-hand so it wasn't a closed/blind interview

For
I just submitted the graduate application fee - did y'all do it for the "Medicine MD" program bc that showed that I paid for the Indiana University Graduate CAS and I think that's what they wanted? I probs should've emailed first but it seemed right ha.

Also, it asks for your GPA and MCAT but they specifically said not to put them in so I put the date of my MCAT bc that was required but left the score blank and then said I had no GPAs to report, etc. let me know if that's what you guys did too 🙂
Did you upload your transcript? I know it says to not upload any additional material other than the criminal thing, and I'm not sure if that counts.

I clicked on a link that said "no scores to report" for the MCAT part and did the same for the GPA.

Did anyone see a place to put your AAMC ID? I started filling out the old app before they told us not to and it had a spot, but I can't find one on the new app

I don't see anywhere to put an AAMC ID either

I just filled out the new one and the AMCAS ID box was towards the bottom

I was able to go back and enter my MCAT date and AAMC ID after I had already submitted the application.

Just wondering, has the " Graduate Fee Paid" status changed for anyone on the MD application portal?

Just submitted the grad app too! Hopefully those of us still waiting for interview dates will get one soon 🙂. I get a little nervous looking at last year's thread, as some people waited months to get their date assigned after their first "invite" :dead:

Didn't you all just opt to not add any standardized tests? You do not have to add a MCAT date if you do that.

@OHCA You don't have to add a date, but if you opt out then you don't get the option to add an AMCAS ID. If you add the AMCAS ID you can still just leave the score blank.

The supplemental packet says to not include MCAT scores but says nothing about including GPA. Should I include my total credit hours/GPA on the grad app?

For the Achievements section-- did you all basically put what you put in the W/A section for AMCAS?

@kschaef I actually put that I didn't have any to list. I called and I was told that I would have to ask the office of graduate admissions because it was more to do with whether or not the application itself needed that part filled out to proceed.

I didn't put an MCAT or AMCAS number because they already have that from the primaries. I did list my GPA since it wasn't mentioned. I included the same scholarships and honors that were on my AMCAS for the achievements section. I'm sure they don't even care about what we put, the just want the $70... I mean they have the primary and invited us off of that, so this shouldn't even make a difference.
